However, from that moment on, I tried to understand what makes computer science so attractive for me. My passion for computers started in the 9th grade, in 2008, when I started studying it as part of the introduction to computer curriculum in my high school. This seems like interesting because there was no computer in our elementary school in Bingol, the Kurdish region in Turkey. First of all, I am a hiphop dancer and I have huge amount fans on Instagram, musically and other platforms that helped me to manage people and control them according to their requests. I’ve been performing on theater almost ten years, sometimes professional sometimes amateur, that led me to observe the other people with minor details because the best performers are the best observers. What these people may not understand is that our society is somewhat forcing us to live this way. In the area in which we reside, there aren’t many high paying jobs. This forces us to commute to areas such as D.C and Richmond. Commuting these long distances can take a lot of time out of our schedules which can be put towards exercise and spending time with family. To keep these jobs that whole families rely on, adults have to dedicate most of their lives to working.
Box 1 – The College of Liberal Arts at Temple has been a great conduit for providing opportunities for my intellectual and professional development. First and foremost, I feel extremely privileged to be part of Temple’s CLA Honors Program due the outstanding faculty, both teaching and administrative. I again feel lucky to have been exposed to several fantastic clubs and organizations, such as the Temple Economics and Political Science societies, that pertain to my fields of study. I’ve also been afforded possibilities to attend lectures given by prominent academics and scholars, in particular the talks given by Professor Joseph Schwartz on political theory. Learning from the exceptional professors and commingling and collaborating with other
I had enough butterflies in my stomach to make me entirely focused on my upcoming performance. While we danced and sang on stage, I prepared for my rap solo. As a sophomore, I would have never subjected myself to this risk, but I dove into it with confidence. Out of breath, I messed up the lyrics, but was able to recover well by mumbling the tune of the rap. At this moment, I realized I did not need to be perfect in order to gain respect from my peers and help them enjoy themselves.

Going forward a liberal arts education will be key for me to attain my goals. Specifically a Hollins liberal arts education. I am interested in pursuing pre-law, creative writing, art, and equine studies. At a typical technical based studies program I would be unable to study and learn what I 'm passionate about. It has been said that if you choose a job you love you will never have to work another day, and I fully intend to live my life with zeal doing what I love and am truly passionate about, and a liberal arts education will help me achieve that.
I was breathing hard, smiling to myself in a cramped practice room on the second floor. I looked in the mirror. I didn’t care who thought I was “soloist material” or not; I wanted this and no realistic, pragmatic gutlessness was going to get in my way. Performing - the mere image of it projected in my mind was exhilarating. I was satisfied for a long moment.

In the past, I have made three choices that have impacted my life significantly. This includes incorporating God into my daily life, applying to Mayfield Secondary School for the RAP, and quitting basketball for one year. While some of these decisions have filled me with an eternal sense of happiness and satisfaction, one in particular has left me feeling remorseful. I have sought God, first, because I was not completely happy throughout my childhood.
