Have you ever wondered if you could ever change the school lunches in the Public schools? Well you’re not the only one, many other people thought about changing the way you eat at lunch and started to change it. Some trials have failed but some have succeeded at the trail for their public school. But some administrators what it to come to all schools, for the fact that they are losing money because kids stopped eating lunches at school. The school lunches impacting more than just the schools money, it’s impacting the students education and after school activities just like sports teams. First of all ,students are getting bad grades because they aren’t eating anything at school because the school lunches are disgusting. For an example, in a Perspective Flip Book called “School Lunches: Healthy Choices VS. Crowd Pleasers” it states:“The new dietary guidelines left …show more content…
In some schools some principals superintendents have made a decision to opt out of the Healthy choice foods and make there own semi-healthy foods that kids like. To reduce waste and bring back students who have opted to pack a lunch or go off campus for fast food, his districts cafeterias have installed stir-fry stations with abundant vegetables so students can have meals made to order. and he’s added spice bars so kids can even the bland. In schools some principals and administrators are starting to take action. They want students to eat healthy but at the same time eat what they like. when students go off campus researchers say they gain more weight then when they eat the food they like at school, healthy or not. If it’s not the healthiest food in the world then the lunches service can put less on the kids plate. Kids will eat more at school if the school sells what the kids like. FInally the school noticed it and finally started selly stir-fry stations. thus Principal and administrators finally noticed that kids hate their food and want the food that they will eat and not throw
If students start packing their own lunch and not eating the cafeteria lunch then the school will be wasting food and possibly even money because the students don't want to eat it. Parents on the other hand might wonder why their child is coming home always hungry and it would be because the child doesn't like the new lunch menu at school. Then the school will have angry parents at their office desk yelling and complaining about the menu being changed because their child is going all day starving due to them not liking the food. Some of the students might blame it on the cafeteria workers when its not their fault at all, which could lead to the lunch lady's to quit their job or start complaining to. Everyone has a different opinion but this one is mine School lunches should defiantly stay the same no matter what anyone says.
It would only change what is at school. Students aren't going to change their whole diet because one meal is changed. changing the school food to become healthier will not have much of an impact. It could lead to students to stop buying lunches. students would start to pack lunches that can be much more unhealthy than what the school lunches originally were.
A recent study found that children who regularly ateschool lunches were 29 percent more likely to beobese than their peers who brought lunch fromhome. Health science has advanced greatly since theinception of the National School Lunch Program in1946. When a 2008 Institute of Medicine committeecomprising 14 child-nutrition experts examined dataon the content of school lunches in the UnitedStates, its findings were stark. The updated standards aligned school meals withthe 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans byincreasing quantities of fruits, vegetables, andwhole grains; establishing calorie ranges; andlimiting trans fats and sodium. Children consume almost half of their total caloriesat school, and the National School Lunch Programprovides
Student Declaration of Independence Preamble: When in the course of life events, we are writing this Declaration of Independence to declare that we should be able to have off campus lunch because what we are served at lunch is basically the same thing from the day before. Us as students should have the right to be able to have our own say in this. Declaration: We hold these truths to be obvious that we should get better lunch or be able to go off of campus to get our own food because here at school we get the same food everyday and the food doesn't even taste real.
The authors have the opinions of the USDA’s Office of Inspector General and a US Senator stating that they also disagree with this school lunch system. The Inspector General states that the National School Lunch Program has, “high rates of improper funding”. If he is saying this then there must be a lot more people thinking the same thing. In addition, Senator Thune states that, because of the improper payment, taxpayers are paying an extra $2.7 billion for this program. These professional opinion is that this money could be put to a much better use and that is appealing to most taxpayers today, because if the American people have to pay taxes they want to make sure it is put to good use.
On a typical school day, students sit through 7-8 hours of nonsensical busywork before they can even leave the building. Most high schools in America have a strictly structured day planned out for their students. To begin the day, students sit in class for a few hours. Then they are exposed to some of the worst food known to man, cafeteria food. Not to mention that once they are done scarfing down the sodium-rich garbage called food, the students have to sit in class for a few more hours before their freedom is regained.
School Lunch menus need to be changed. Many schools plan on changing their lunch menus. When changing school lunches many students will lose some of their favorite foods. When the schools do finally decide to change the lunches, it needs to be a change for students, they need to be healthier and it needs to be something different for students.
Though new school lunch organizations provide a healthier, more proficient learning environment, they also promote realms of controversy over student meals. However, these conflicts are futile in comparison to constant concerns over global health issues, including obesity, anorexia, and even
The principal is trying to change school lunch menu's to healthier meals. I strongly believe that this is a good idea to change the lunches because of the following reasons: healthier meals makes kids grow big and strong, it gives you more energy to move around, and it taste delicious. Schools all around should consider changing their lunches for the better of their student. This is for the better of the student to have healthy food. I will go into greater detail in the following paragraphs.
Second, the school will start losing money from the decline in sales of school lunches. If students' favorite lunches are taken away then students will stop buying school lunches , which means the school will start losing the much needed money for other activities. Money is needed for almost everything, which include lighting, plumbing, heating, electricity, extracurricular activities, paying schools' staff, etc. If a school does not have enough money it will limit learning, cant afford textbooks, and eliminate some classes people enjoy such as, band, chorus, wood shop, and agriculture classes because the school can not afford them. Which is not going to make the students happy.
Should School Lunches Change For a long time now people have been arguing over whether or not to change up the restrictions to the lunches served in schools across America. Many different arguments have come up in recent years. School officials should not change up the school lunches because some people need more food than others, they should not be able to tell them what they can and can't eat, and finally because it will take lots of time and money to make the switch. The first reason schools should not put a limit on school lunches because some students need more food than others.
The school should not change the lunches. Lunches are already healthy. If the school does change it the students may not buy the lunch. Students may start bringing unhealthy food from home.
To begin with, the taste alone of school lunches is beyond unsatisfactory. The meals provided by public schools are not appetizing. There exists a tangible disconnect between the enticing, nutritious meals advertised on the school board’s menus and what the students actually receive—pathetic portions and lukewarm meals slapped onto a tray. Children’s complaints about school lunches are often seen as trite. However, while common, they are not any less accurate.
Stress has become a major issue for high school students. Many students have seven classes, participate in sports, have after school activities, homework, and need to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Some parents and outside influencers don’t see the benefits of having a longer lunch period for high school students. Students complain about how long school is now but they don 't have enough time outside of school to complete everything they are expected to. While it is understandable that some parents wouldn’t want longer lunches because it could result in safety issues and students having to remain in school 30 minutes longer than the traditional time, longer lunches would give students a chance to complete homework, get help from teachers, and eat a nutritious meal.
However, the provision commodity foods may have unintended financial consequences for schools that ultimately have an impact on school lunch nutrition,” was said in, “A Comparative Cost Analysis of commodity foods from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the National School Lunch Program,” by Cora Peterson. The food schools get from other places cause financial problems. If the students could go to town to buy their own lunch from places they would prefer to eat, this should not be a
