Poverty is one of the most horrific epidemics in our society today. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. It is a very serious problem that many people suffer from today. Many issues such as illness, hunger, and bad sanitation are all causes of poverty. Statistics show that there are over 35 million Americans that live in poverty. That is almost 10% of the whole population. There are many reasons that cause poverty in America. The lack of jobs that are available for people with a low education. People can’t get the education they need because colleges are too expensive. Statistics have also proven that alcohol and drug addiction affect about 20% of the homeless. Poverty is like a disease that is killing this country. What is the government doing to help save this country?
For one thing, we need to make more jobs available for people who get the best education. People can’t just survive on minimum wage forever. They have to decide on whether to pay bills or buy food. It is a very difficult position to ever be in. If they don’t pay bills than they can end up being homeless, and if they can’t afford the food they can’t survive. This reminds me of an article I read on talkpoverty.com. They suggested that with the 170 billion in economic saving the government can pay for over 11 million jobs at a salary of $15,000 per year. I 100% agree with this idea. This can help save so many lives of people that are suffering from poverty.
In addition, if colleges were less

1984 Essay Technology is taking us closer to the world of Big Brother. Current technology is more than capable of monitoring our every move, and our over exaggerated fear leads to increased monitoring. I believe that we all have a right to privacy.
Poverty is affecting billions of people around our world and the number is growing with each day. Many people think they can avoid the effects of poverty, but it is something that affects all of our daily lives. Many people see poverty as a person who lacks money, although this is true poverty is caused by many more things than being without money. Just the fact that one in two children live in poverty can help people see clearly the impact it has on our world. Poverty truly does influence the type of care and treatment a person will receive when they need it.
The government should increase the work wage so families don’t have to struggle and worry about the money. This problem is in all the places. People and families, they struggle for money. They can’t buy a house and get a good education. And it is so important to have good education and good
Kenney Morales Prof Peters English-101 “Homelessness” Imagine you are walking in a city, and amongst the crowded street, you notice a man. He isn’t walking, just sitting down out of sight. He doesn’t make a sound. However, he stands out the most out of everyone else.
Even though around $35 billion was put into the country from 2002-2009. Even the nuber one cause of death is poverty. There was a movie titled “The pursuit of Happyness” made in 2006 which explores the idea of extreme poverty in the states. Poverty can be a vicious cycle for some families that goes from generation to generation. Another personal issue that can lead to poverty is illness and unemployment which puts someone out of work and there is little to no income coming in. I identify myself as Jean Valjean in the story. Valjean was a poor guy who was sentenced to be an oarsman for stealing a loaf of bread for his niece. He could not get any job after he was released because of his ex-convict’s passport. He ended up staying at a local bishop’s house and stole silver dishes. He got caught by the gendarmes, but the bishop forgave Valjean and even gave him more silver.
Education Reforms Education reform is legislation to improve the quality of education in the United States. Once, grades were the most important achievement for students. However, politicians and the public were concerned that our standardized test scores were not as good as those of other countries. Therefore, state and national governments started making laws to make school more challenging and to test kids more. One of those laws was “No Child Left Behind”.
Imagine being so hungry you can’t even move. Having to sleep in a house made of dirt, or being so thirsty because there is no safe drinking water. People around the World face these problems everyday. 328,000,000 children live in extreme poverty, and 1 in 10 people live on less than $1.90 a day. The conditions they live in are horrible and everyone should do what they can to help end poverty and world hunger.
Racism, the act of “…prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race…”, is a major problem today. It gives people fear, doubt, shame, and sometimes guilt. In addition, racism gives people an awful perspective of life and sometimes, if one is looking up to a racist, the racist’s point of view begins to alter the person’s judgement. Racism could also lead to great conflict arising from those who heavily despise that race and maybe even mass killings, which foreshows that racism needs to be stopped and ended completely.
The children of our nation are the future; however, America’s children are suffering. Child poverty, hunger and nutrition, and welfare are growing issues that need to be solved. The statistics provided in The State of America’s Children 2017 Report are eye-opening. Sadly, poverty is threatening America’s children. According to the State of America’s Children in the United States and Alabama 2017 Factsheets, 18 percent of the U.S.’s children were poor in 2016, and 25 percent of Alabama’s children were poor in 2016.
What is Poverty? Poverty is somewhat difficult to define in universal terms and is often impossible to put together figures or amounts to it.
