Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provides medical care to men, women, and children. Despite contrary belief, Planned Parenthood is not only an abortion-based service. This organization treats “42 % STD/STI Testing and Treatment, 34% Contraceptives, 3% Abortion Services, 9% Cancer Screenings and Prevention, 11% Other Women 's Health Services, and 1% Other Services” (Planned Parenthood). In fact, Planned Parenthood is a main source of medical protection for low-income families. Furthermore, the main concern conservatives have with this firm is abortion services, meanwhile the government does not pay for abortion procedures. By defunding Planned Parenthood, the American society will suffer due to a variety of medical problems …show more content…
“Planned Parenthood health centers comprise 10 percent of all publicly funded family planning centers, but they serve 36 percent of all clients who obtain care from the country’s family planning health center network” (Guttmacher Institute). The non-profit organization gets a specific amount of money to fund patients, however, Planned Parenthood serves 26% more patients, which they do not get funding for. The firm is relying on a small amount of funding from the government, yet they serve more than they are able too. Planned Parenthood patients will financially suffer if Congress decides to go through with the defunding of Planned Parenthood. The government does not fund abortion services, which deem to be the most unfavorable portion of Planned …show more content…
However, it is often forgotten that the organization serves a variety of medical conditions. By defunding Planned Parenthood the American society will suffer by denying those who are below the federal property lines to treat their problems, that are not relating to abortion. Planned Parenthood’s patients are not only women, and as stated before, abortion services only make up 3% of Planned Parenthood’s treatments. Also, by denying proper funding to Planned Parenthood, those who may have contracted an STI/STD are unable to get treatment due to the inability to pay for advanced technology that is required. Overall, by defunding Planned Parenthood the government is denying a large number of people the right to get medical treatment for their conditions because of conservative
I also believe that through family planning, women’s health approves and so does the status of women in the community. Their health and status approves since women have access to Planned Parenthood where they are empowered to make educated decisions about sexual and reproductive health. Planned Parenthood clinics serve a majority of women receiving publicly funded contraceptive services and no longer having these clinics would play key roles in many women’s lives. By defunding Planned Parenthood, women will have to find new places to get contraceptives but they may not find a place they can afford and, in turn, don’t feel the need to continue using contraceptives. By not practicing safe sex, women are in danger
There are many other women who do not live as well as myself, who do not have the same privilege as I do. These women need Planned Parenthood to prevent disease and unplanned pregnancies. To pretend that these people do not need Planned Parenthood to stay healthy, to survive, is almost as ludicrous as the notion that Planned Parenthood endorses the killing of innocent lives. Planned Parenthood is much more than abortions. It stands for the rights of women as humans, as people who need help, to improve the lives of those who cannot improve theirs on their own.
To qualify and receive Medicaid, one of the criteria’s are to be poor and pregnant, which is also state funded. The funding cut from Planned Parenthood, will be used in other areas involving female medical services. Some are also wondering what
Planned Parenthood had saved many lives and ultimately changed the way the American society thinks about safe sex. The majority of the United States takes Planned Parenthood Institutional teachings reliable, and affective. If this law did succeed against Griswold, the United States as a whole would be different in contraceptives. It would not be a right for both men and women to use contraceptives and protect themselves if it wasn't for Griswold that stood up against the Connecticut law. A devastating impact on society would take away peoples rights to be able to prevent from getting pregnant.
Today more than four million American individuals rely on Title X and its services. Without Title X, over four million individuals will lost the affordable preventive health care they have. Doing away with Title X is also doing away with women 's rights, and a woman 's control over her own body. I know that many of you believe that doing away with federal funding for Planned Parenthood is for the best, but in actual reality it is probably one of the worst things you could do. Doing away with Title X would lead to more unintended pregnancies because women 's access to affordable birth control would be cut off.
Inevitably, it would result in many more unplanned pregnancies which would equal more abortions. Really, if people want that number to go down they should be in favor of increasing the funding of Planned Parenthood. Supporting why the business should not be defunded since women would have the access to and be able to afford birth control and the number of abortions would go down, but if the government defunds them then women are not going to be able to get birth control to stop the unplanned pregnancy, which causes the abortions rise. Arguing to this the people wanting the defunding would say that the number of abortions would just continue to rise since Planned Parenthood if offering them. Which is untrue since they also offer contraception in which people could use to prevent unplanned pregnancies which lowers the abortion
The bill was split on party lines with 248 votes in support of the Survivor Act and 241 votes to defund Planned Parenthood. This is important because if we look into how many women are involved in
There are 650 health centers, and 56 independent local affiliations (Planned Parenthood at a Glance). That is a substantial amount of facilities to offer just abortions, but the truth is that only three percent of what Planned Parenthood does is for abortion services, 80 percent of their patients receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy (Planned Parent at a Glance). Planned Parenthood offers health care to 2.5 million men and women, 270,000 pap test and 579,000 unintended pregnancies each year(Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health), and if it was defunded that it would not just affect the funding of abortions but it would cause an estimate of “390,000 women to lose their access to these essential services altogether, and up to 650,000 women might face reduced access to preventive health care within a year” (Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health Planned Parenthood Provides Essential Services That Improve Women 's Health). They provide 1.2 million pregnancy test, 360,000 breast exams, and 4.2 million test for sexually-transmitted diseases (Standing with Planned Parenthood) which include more than 650,000 HIV test (Planned Parenthood at a Glance).
Hillary Clinton This paper will bring three points of Planned Parenthood related with Hillary Clinton along with my thoughts about her speech. The first point will talk about my relationship with political, Hillary Clinton’s statement about women’s health/the reproductive rights, and Hillary Clinton’s strong dream to give women’s right back to them away from government, religious and all another invert women’s right to make their own decisions. Those three points will bring me closer to understand what going on with Planned Parenthood with Hillary Clinton’s perspective.
By being a provider and educator, the organization has created a reputation as a safe, reliable source that many individuals can depend on for their health. Nearly 4 of 10 Americans are reliant on such programs and up to 25% of Planned Parenthood patients would be completely without medical insurance if the organization was defunded. Defunding Planned Parenthood was an effort put into effect in Texas of 2011 where it proved to be disastrous for both healthcare providers and their patients. The two-year budget for Planned Parenthood was cut from $111 million to $38 million, which resulted in 82 clinics closing, reduced services and supplies, and ultimately an upcharge for what was available. This resulted in a 36% decrease in IUDs and other implants and a 31% decrease in injectable contraceptives, all because it was limited, too expensive, or too difficult to receive (Willingham).
Throughout the past few years, the organization Planned Parenthood has gone through an overabundance of controversy and fabrications. Planned Parenthood is one of the world’s largest healthcare providers, offering sexual education and reproductive health care to over five million women and men worldwide every year. The majority of the group’s opposition contests it for the notion that they provide unwarranted and immoral abortion procedures. However, only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s services are abortion procedures. The rest of the the organization’s amenities include STI/STD testing, cervical cancer screening, breast exams, Pap tests, and more immensely crucial healthcare facilities for the men and women of America.
Imagine that it takes a couple months instead of a couple days to get a cancer screening or the mammogram required for a certain age range. A man or woman fears that the doctor’s office will not accept their insurance and can’t pay the medical bill. A teen needs an STD test because he or she is unaware of the harms in sex. A pregnant woman needs a place to feel safe and not judged by her personal choices. Planned Parenthood gives each of these people what they need and provides the need in an efficient and timely manner.
Planned Parenthood is a National issue fighting for abortion access, giving women facing an unintended pregnancy must have access to safe, legal abortion services. Birth control and the fact all people deserve access to birth control and other preventive care, health care equality and the idea all people should have equal access to reproductive health care. For years politicians in Congress and statehouses across the country have attacked Planned Parenthood’s patients’ access to care. But I believe Planned Parenthood’s health centers provide high quality, affordable reproductive health care, to 2.4 million people across the country. When politicians talk about defunding Planned Parenthood, they really mean depriving patients who depend on public
Planned Parenthood performs many breast exams, which are needed to detect early cancer, and pap tests, which can find pre-cancerous cells. There’s no question that Planned Parenthood helps prevent and treat very serious sexually transmitted infections and diseases. Moreover, the organization tests for and treas STI’s quite inexpensively. Without Planned Parenthood, women who are uninsured or have a low income would have nowhere to go to get these necessary tests done. Yet in 2015, the republicans attempted to shut down the United States government over funding women’s
Susan G. Komen (SGK) is one of the most influential non-profit organizations in terms of its effort in championing their cause. We have been given the task to help rebuild their image, and offer our recommendations on how to regain public trust and support. After the defunding of Planned Parenthood (PP) and its mismanagement of dissemination of information and response, the question that strikes us was why Planned Parenthood responded to the news and actions of SGK negatively. Despite the fact that it is true, that PP was under federal investigation for mismanagement of funds. Based on the knowledge we gain from analyzing scholarly article, video recommendations and records of communication between SGK, PP and the public, our group propose
