Please Stop Laughing at Me – Jodee Blanco Character Sketch “Please Stop Laughing at Me” is an autobiography based upon Jodee Blanco's early life, and her struggles with bullying and being an outcast. Despite her troublesome past, Jodee carries a distinctive and individualistic personality and character. Her experiences have evolved her into a caring and empathetic person, among other things, and have also made her into an admirable being. Although Jodee was never somebody to do wrong as a child, her desire to care for the “underdog”, as well as her action in doing so, causes a lot of scrutiny from the people around her, and further causes her difficulty in both her social and personal life. This, however, hardly ever slows her down, and she …show more content…
She typically avoids hurting others, and always defends the people who have been harmed. Even though she always tries to look after everybody, people rarely look after her. Due to that kind of isolation, Jodee looks down upon herself and expels a low self-esteem, and is very sensitive to what people say and to do to her. She has difficulty tolerating herself thanks to all the degradation she experienced through her years, and she longs for acceptance from her peers and to fit in with all the other kids. “Time after time, my "friends" had shown me their true colours. Yet, I still wanted to believe they were sorry for causing me pain.” (Pg. 128) Throughout Jodee’s life, she has overcome many hardships and obstacles that stopped her from having a regular childhood, like all the other children. She experienced plenty of abuse from her peers, as well as the people around her, and because of that, she's become a very fragile person. Despite this, she always bounces back when people throw her down, and she always fights for what she wants and what she believes in. A very kind and virtuously good individual at heart, Jodee is a very talented and empathetic person who definitely proved her bullies

One boy has natural skills unlike the other boy who has to work very hard for what he wants. The hard working boy, Gene does not like the way that Finny never has to put effort into anything to get what he wants. Jeannette was neglected, beaten, and starved all throughout her childhood. She lived without a home, money, and enough food to get by and also managed, against all odds, to fight for her ambitions. The Glass Castle, a memoir by Jeannette Walls, depicts the hardships of her upbringing by her nomadic, undependable parents, yet also her ability to persevere into a successful and aspiring young woman. As a young girl, Jeannette was always travelling due to her unstable parents and living on edge in fear of her parents’ outbursts. When she was the tender age of five, she actually recalls thinking fondly of her dad, always being his little “mountain goat”.
She did not have parents who really cared for her when she was younger, so she always had to make the best of a bad situation. Jeanette feels her childhood turned out the way it did because of how she was raised. She feels that “No child is born a delinquent. They only became that way if nobody loved them when they were kids.” (Walls 83).
What the children and parents called her scared her. She didn’t understand why they were so mean. Then she figured it out when
Have you ever wondered what our children, and grandchildren’s lives will be like? We Screwed Up; A Letter of Apology to my Granddaughter (Ward, 2012) is a letter written by Chip Ward to his four year old granddaughter and her possible unborn siblings. He speaks clearly about the devastation that past generations have caused to the planet we all call home, although he fails to provide any evidence concerning what he claims, as well as majorly lacks appreciation for the organizations already working towards a better tomorrow. Chip Ward begins his letter with an apology to his granddaughter and her siblings for using up all of the oil. He claims that, “We are all gas-hogs, plain and simple” (Ward, 2012), in regards to his generation and those
The theme of James Baldwin’s, “Sonny’s Blues” is overcoming sibling conflict through love and understanding. The poetic passage I chose that best represents this theme is, “Sonny’s fingers filled the air with life, his life. But that life contained so many others. And Sonny went all the way back, he really began with the spare, flat statement of the opening phrase of the song. Then he began to make his.

Compositional Innovations in Sergei Prokofiev’s Sarcasms Op.17 Abstract Consisting of five miniatures, the Sarcasms Op. 17 was composed in 1912-1914 and was one of Prokofiev’s early pieces during his years at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (1904-1914). His years in the conservatory helped him to establish his early style, which highly resembled that of his predecessors, romanticists Scriabin and Rachmaninoff, at the beginning of his career.
