When the president is acting as Chief Diplomat, he has the ability to use an executive agreement, which is an international agreement with foreign countries that are not considered treaties. Whereas, a treaty needs to have two-thirds approval from Congress to be policy, the president does not need any approval from Congress with an executive agreement. Commander in Chief gives the president the authority to take action when he feels the need to or when it is the best interest for the country in foreign affairs. The president does not like to use his authority unless necessary. The Chief Diplomat and Commander in Chief are the two roles that give the President of United States his or her power over foreign affairs.

American citizens look to their President to help them through problems that arise, to lead them through difficult situations and crises. The people of America look to their President to implement policies that will affect their everyday lives. The President is constantly in the spotlight of the nation. It is the President who enjoys all the adulation when things are going well. It is also the President who bears with all the blame and animosity when national government polices aren't working well.

It is a romantic comedy that takes place in the White House, during primary season. The president, Andrew Shepperd, is a widower, with a daughter, who is hoping to be reelected and pass two bills. One related to gun control and the other on fuel restrictions. While watching the movie, I noticed several key roles that the president played; all of which gave him the qualities of a realistic president.

Barack Obama has influenced millions in his lifetime by taking the power he desires to have, from being an attorney, moving up to Illinois State Senator, to becoming a US President for two terms. While he was a Senator in 2004 he was invited to speak at the Democratic National Convention. In his Keynote Address, he expressed different bases of power as he spoke. The bases of power, as explained by Agunis, Pierce, and Simonsen, are reward, coercive, legitimate, referent, and expert.
