The articles of Confederation were drafted with an aim to succeed, but there were some allocations that were not considered. The first concern that was not considered was how powerful the federal government was supposed to be. The founding fathers knew that confederation was going to make the United States a unit, which means that decisions such as international relations, was to be controlled centrally. The congress and the executive were not given sufficient powers to engage military action. The congress had to borrow military empowerment from the states.

The articles of confederation is the first national government of the United states America, however, this constitution is flawed. The new independent nation needed an organization that would hold all of the states together, send a military off in the future if needed and of course a stronger economy. The articles seemed to be the best route to take for the United States in order to build unity in their nation. The U.S wanted to avoid higher power like Great Britain with King George the third. They wanted to spread power to the people evenly.

There are also a lot of flaws when it came the The Articles of Confederation. For example, if they had agreed to the Article the Congress could not draft troops, the states had to contribute men for war. Another thing

The main debate was about individual rights. Originally, the Constitution lacked a bill of rights. Anti-federalists insisted that a bill of rights be added to the Constitution to expressly grant freedoms to the country. On the other hand, federalist James Madison believed the Constitution was enough, and adding a bill of rights was unnecessary. As southern states did with slavery, antifederalists refused to ratify the Constitution without a bill of rights.

This past week, the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia. They addressed the problems of the weak central government that exists under the Articles of Confederation. Both our fellow Federalists and the Anti federalists, were present at this meeting. The Anti federalists are continuing to fight against the Constitution, claiming that they don’t want a bigger government than the States. However, they do not have a set plan like us.

The articles of the confederation was very weak plan of government but they ended up fixing it in the end. States were given most power and few powers were given to the national government. The laws were difficult to pass because only 9 out of the 13 states agreed. Congress had no power to collect taxes,regulate trade, to coin money,and had no power to create an army. There was no president or executive branch.

During the ratification debate, Anti-Federalists were opposed to the Constitution. They argued that the newer system threatened liberties of the people, and failed to protect individual rights of Americans on a general scale. The Anti-Federalists weren 't exactly a united group, but instead involved many elements. One faction of Anti-Federalists opposed the Constitution because they believed stronger government threatened the sovereignty of the states in their entirety; Others argued that centralized government would have identical characteristics of the monarchical properties of Great Britain which they fought to sever themselves from prior. While others feared that a new government threatened personal liberties.

In the following paragraph, I will describe to you the different arguments that the Federalists and Anti-Federalists had with ratifying the Constitution. Our Constitution should involve focusing on the common good and civic virtue of the people. There is no need for an overwhelming amount of power provided for the national government to where they make all of the decisions for us. A Bill of Rights would give us such things as the right to speak freely and make our own decisions that we, as a people, think is necessary for the common good. This writing will describe all of these points that support the Anti-Federalists and the reason to reject the new Constitution.

In early 1787, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and other nationalist leaders decided to improve and create a perfect union. The Constitution was then created, and the people who supported it were called the Federalists. Led by Alexander Hamilton, the Federalist group supported the Constitution, but as soon as they introduced it to all the states, not all the people agreed and supported to what it said, and that is why the Anti-Federalist group was created. Anti-Federalist were the people who were against the Constitution and believed that it didn’t give enough rights to the individual citizens. They were constantly trying to add in The Bill of Rights to the Constitution of the United States, which they successfully did

As the result, the nation split into two groups: federalists, the supporters of the constitution and the antifederalist, the people who against the constitution. The antifederalists argued that “the Constitution lacked a religious test for officeholding and the Constitution failed to guarantee a right to counsel and a right not to incriminate oneself in criminal trials, or to prohibit cruel and unusual punishments,” In response, the Congress proposed the Bill of Rights, consisted of Ten Amendments to guarantees that every citizen would have such rights as “ the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It is also guarantees “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” This new proposal gained a number of states agree to sign the constitution. The Bill of Rights saved nation from going to another bloody civil war.

Another reason for this belief was people didn't have guaranteed rights. In conclusion this belief among others led to the Anti Federalists fighting against the constitution. The Federalists and Anti Federalists thoughts on the bill of rights like everything else was different. The Federalists believed that the bill of rights was useless. Anti-Federalists thought it was essential to making sure that peoples rights were kept safe.

There were many flaws with the Articles of Confederation for example there was not an executive branch. In article two section one of the Constitution they made it so the President had executive power along with a Vice President. Another issue was the fact that there were not any federal courts. This was changed in article three section one and two, and they stated that the judicial power will be held by one supreme court with inferior courts. There also was no power to tax or regulate commerce.

Why the Constitution Surpasses the Articles of Confederation Today in history, the United States still obeys the Constitution.   As everyone knows, it took bravery, courage, and bloodshed for the U.S. to keep and have this document.  It took a great mind and a lot of trial and error to create the perfect form of government that was right and fair to all the people.  

To give some background, the Articles of Confederation was a document signed by the 13 original colonies that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution. The Articles of Confederation created a nation that was “a league of friendship and perpetual union.” The Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation, the first constitution of the United States, on November 15, 1777. The Articles of Confederation became effective on March 1, 1781, after all thirteen states had ratified them. It made the states and legislature supreme.

The Bill of Rights was ratified on December 15, 1791 written by James Madison. The Bill of Rights was written and added into the Constitution in order to protect the rights of the citizens. The Bill of Rights was added into the Constitution by a compromise between the Anti-Federalists and the Federalists. Federalists were citizens who supported the new Constitution. While Anti-Federalists were another group of citizens who were scared to have another king or a abusive government, basically did not support the Constitution.
