It has been explored how news media abuse people with different skin colour or religion. For example how they portray black people and constantly associate them with terms like crime. This theory is supported by Diawara where he says, “This tends to leave a negative impression of the certain group in the audience’s mind and they are more likely to associate their future experiences based on their impression.” it is also evident by (couriermail.com) where states, “The new problem is social media – it’s easy for people to hide behind a mobile phone to make racial slurs,”. In other words, it is easy for people to use their mobile phone and by speaking be rude to people from different cultures . Thus, by the uses of different type of information about racism in Australia society, it clear that some people are being racist through social media. In conclusion, it is clear that racism has affected many people, like a contagious disease, following people where ever they go. Racism has been and still is a prolific evil in Australian society. It’s disgusting that people believe there is a different between them and treat each other differently only due to their culture and colour of skin. Literature and media both prove that racism still

Schools are a reflection of the society that feeds into them. The attitudes of students to race and diversity are a direct result of the attitudes those students bring with them from home and other social environments such as sporting clubs. Even those students who may come from homes where diversity is (if not celebrated) then at least tolerated, find themselves adopting the attitudes of the particular groups of individuals they socialise with at school. Australia has spent 200 years building its identity as a “white” nation, and no factor has influenced this more than 73 years of government sponsored racism in the form of the “White Australia” policy. The book of my choosing was Australian Race Relations by Andrew Markus, this book gives detailed reasoning on the thinking behind why Great Britain decided to embark upon Australia and the reasoning behind doing so. I plan to discuss some of the similarities and differences regarding three main points that we have both discussed in class and that is presented in Australian Race Relations and they are; the idea of superiority that Europeans had regarding other countries, the racial immigrant segregation seen in the nineteen century Australia, and the ways in which Australia tried to keep themselves white from integration of outside races. Markus starts off his novel by addressing the underlying reason for the British takeover of Austria.
In this day and age, many believe racism to be an issue of the past, when as a matter of fact, it is still frequently impacting peoples lives all around the globe. Unfortunately, many issues regarding racism occur in the sporting world. In Australia, it occurs most often in Australian Rules Football, or in the major competition, AFL (Australian Football League). It is a widely accepted idea that the players and spectators of a sport, rather than the sport itself have a direct impact of inducing racism within that particular sport. Relating to the AFL, the main offenders of racism are the spectators, who are commonly abusing players of different race to them.

With that said, the British went through with the plan of establishing a penal colony in New South Wales and in 1788, the First Fleet led by Captain Arthur Phillip arrived in Sydney Cove. This essay will focus on the effects of racism towards the Aboriginal population of Australia in the past and today. Between 1788 and 1900, a large part of Australia’s indigenous population has lost their lives due to miscellaneous diseases. Aboriginal people were introduced to illnesses like smallpox, measles or tuberculosis, which were brought by the British convicts. Indigenous Australians had no immunity to these sicknesses, which led to the diseases spreading at a rapid speed and eradicating a large part of Australia’s indigenous population.
Like everyone else in this room I was aghast at the news of a terror attack in the heart of Paris. While initially my thoughts were with the victims, they soon turned to the possibility of a similar attack occurring here in Australia. While I had always thought of Australia as one of the safest, stable and prosperous nations on Earth, the reactionary rhetoric I saw on television, YouTube and print media made me question my convictions. I began to see threats where I never did before. For the first time I was genuinely displeased with the Australian parliament for their inability, and their disregard to address a threat.
