Reflective Journal Student Name: Talita Silva Lima Programme: Higher Diploma in Science – Cloud Computing Month: July 1. Project Management In this section I will explain in detail my project management through a Gantt Chart and what I have done since my last journal until now, how my time management is going in order to delivery this project before the deadline and some of my achievements. Before writing about this project in specific, I would like to highlight my project management according to all the projects that I have got for this semester. Figure 1: First page of the Gantt Chart of all my projects and its tasks. Figure 2: Second page of the Gantt Chart of all my projects and its milestones and deadlines. Projects and its tasks were organized by deadline date, from the shortest deadline to the longest deadline. All projects have equal priority once all of them worth a big part of my grades. As shown in the Figure 1, there is a lack of dates from 20th July to 29th July. The reason for this is the need and focus on learning the language which will be used in almost all projects: Ruby on Rails. The general project management is very clear in its schedules, tasks and milestones as seen in the figures above. 1.1. Up to date: Project Plan Specifically for the Health All in One project I had to modify some dates and to better understand the changes in my project, there is the previous Gantt Chart below. Figure 3: Previous Gantt Chart: milestones were represented by
This toolset will drive operational excellence by creating consistent processes for both the plans and FEPDO. The dashboard and reporting features provide a real-time insight into key performance measurements to support informed decision making, the ability to generate configurable automated reports and schedule delivery of those reports. Workflow will provide the much-needed relief to supervisors who currently manually assign workflow processes and give them greater visibility into backlogs and claims inventory. It also eliminates the paper and email trail we currently use to manage assignments and employee progress; allowing Managers and Team leads to reallocate their time to other high value
Project staff assignment documentation – includes names of project team members, memos to team members, and a project team directory. The Project Schedule – The project schedule includes start and finish dates for project activities, assignments and timing for specific leaders, workers, or other project resources. Resource requirements - The Schedule Development process includes estimates of the resource requirements for a project. Some activities may require double resources.
Milestones and assignments to each responsible individuals working on the project are defined. The reports are requested from individuals to make sure the project and work is moving forward and everyone is on schedule. The work is managed with schedule, deliverables, and assigning capable leads to drive the projects and taking report from the leads. This way, it makes the management hours to be flexible and leaves enough time to respond to issues or needs.

1.) A complex project that I have been on would be for my CIS 3365 class where I had to work with my team to create an application for a guitar store to better manage their payments. The store had a layaway process where customers could give payments for a guitar, but everything was unorganized and records were kept on file cabinets. We had to create an application that would store payment records, customer information, payment method, and the final balance. I was in the critical path because I was involved in the designing and creation of the application.
The project manager decides the work scope, schedule, and budget to agree with the customer. The project manager controls the project and ensures the budget and schedule with the customer. A risk assessment may assist with project organizational structures. These systems are designed for the individual’s needs. The matrix system aids in delegating responsibility and tasks to complete each project successfully.
All projects must come to an end and that is the time when it is handed off to the client for their responsibility. For this project there was some road blocks encountered when I was getting to the final stages of the project. I can see how scope creep can extend the timeframe of a project or even derail it completely. This report will describe the timing and extra procedures it took to finalize my project and complete it on time. I planned to have the exit meeting on Monday the nineteenth of October but received no response from the client.
INTRODUCTION The application of information, expertise, tools, and procedures to project activities to meet the project requirements is known as project management (PMBOK 2008). Alternatively, project management is the process in which projects are well-defined, planned, supervised, organized and conveyed such that the agreed features and requirements are fulfilled (APM BOK 2006). Success of IT projects is very much dependent on providing the anticipated product at the projected time, within budget, its desired performance levels, acknowledged by the client, offering at least the minimum agreed functionality i.e. meeting customer satisfaction, and delivering the promised benefits (Dalcher and Brodie, 2007).
You need to create the project scope; how big the project will be and the deadline, budgeting, etc. You need to breakdown to the goals and milestone into task that would be completed. You need to identify constraints that restrict not just the project as a whole but the tasks themselves. You need to think of how many people should work on one task and if one task is related to another. 6.
To organise for project management requires an understanding of the organisation’s architecture which includes the organisational hierarchy - the grouping of internal business units, the authority lines and interaction with one another. Each of these aspects should be designed to support project management within the organisation. Structure should follow strategy or else it may impede communication, coordination and decision making which are all key to success (Brevis, 2014, p. 224). Hence, an important function of upper management is to support project teams by either redesigning the organisation to emphasize projects or integrating projects into the current organisation (Graham & Englund, 2004).
The process starts with reviewing the current operations, past experiences and subsequently identifying what needs to be improved. Secondly, planning needs envisioning the results that the project wants to achieve, and the steps or activities required to arrive at success, i.e. fulfilling the mission of the project. Scheduling is a tool to plan and monitor the progress of the project. The case study, “The Boeing 767: From Concept to Production”, gives an overview of the planning efforts and how the team managed and controlled schedules using various techniques.
This article will make an analysis of the Teradyne Corporation: Jaguar project and discuss the impact of the new tools to the project development and the key lessons that were learnt in the process. Challenges The application of the new management tools produced a myriad of challenges regarding the limitations of presented projects and with regard to determining the quality of the project delivered. For instance, the issue of the amount of additional time that was required to cover the unplanned but
In order to achieve excellent results that don 't stress or worry you as a builder or homeowner, a bathroom renovation can be a critical sequence of events. There are various components of a bathroom renovation such as: waterproofing, tiling, plumbing rough-in, lighting, and they must all be in the right order. This allows the right tradesman to be on site at the right time. You 'll want to keep track of key milestones you have set throughout the project to see that critical stages of work to prepare the next stage can commence.
The principle reason that motivated me to pursue the MSc Project Management course is the appeal and challenge Project Managers experience in delivering assignments they undertake in their career. The qualification, indeed, lead to very smart and modern careers for graduates who love challenges, creativity, leadership and success. As a graduate of Mathematics, I have cultivated these features in my student life. Now, for my master level of study, I would like to take my chance of attaining formal skills in the area of project management. From my research, I see that Project Management is the application of skills, knowledge and techniques to meet the objectives of a project and stake holder’s expectations.
