Response To Elie Wiesel's Night

In the book Night, we the readers witness the hardships and struggles in Elie’s life during the traumatic holocaust. The events that take place in this story are unbearable and are thought to be demented in modern times. In the beginning Elie is shown as a normal teenage Jewish boy, but the events are so drastic that we the readers forget how he was like in the beginning. Changes were made to Elie during the book, whether they were minor or major. The changes generated from himself, the journey, and other people.

Loss of More Than Just Life During WWII, the Nazi´s used a certain tactic to abuse the Jews. It was called dehumanization. Dehumanization is the psychological process of demonizing the enemy, making them seem less than human and hence not worthy of humane treatment. In Elie Wiesel's Night, he shows dehumanization through loss of identity,loss of humanity, and desensitization.

The anchoring fear and pain that “Night” brought to me gave me chills as I spent my nights thinking about the traitorous ideals that plagued this world in the past. The pain that you and your family felt brought me to tears by the amount of loss that you had to endure. I believe that if I was put in your position years ago I couldn't handle it like you did and have the will to survive day in and day out for the allied forces to save me. Your story gave me a different mindset by teaching me wars need to stop and we all need to come together not as different races or religions but as human beings and as equals. By writing this book you have taught me and generations to come that we need to change this world for the better.

Elie: Throughout the book we see Elie change from a relatively normal teenage school boy and into a emotionally hardened young man who has become so accustomed to death that he rarely gives it a second thought, even if the person dying was a friend . This change took place because of the tortuous conditions that the Nazi´s subjected him to and that he lost so many family members and friends along the way. My passage shows Elie at a time when he is just starting his journey, yet you can tell that the concentration camps and the Nazi´s have already had a very serious effect on him. ¨He must have died, trampled under the feet if the thousands of men who followed us.

Night Theme The theme of Elie Wiesel’s Night is that ignorance is the most powerful evil. The first example of ignorance in Night is when Elie’s father says, “The yellow star? So what? It’s not lethal . . .”

Shared humanity happens in humans lives whether it's once or many times. The novels and short stories we took the time to read in class had many evidence to show shared humanity in people's lives. These 6 categories play a major role in human's lives no matter what, you are going to encounter challenges in your life as a human.

“Night” by Elie Wiesel is one of the most famous books about the Holocaust, still persisting at the top of the Western bestseller lists. Its canvas are the memories of the writer, journalist, Nobel Peace Prize winner, who at the age of fifteen, was with his family deported to Birkenau. After selection was sent to Auschwitz, then to one of its subsidiaries - Monowitz. In 1945 he was evacuated to Buchenwald, where he lived to see the end of the war.

Shockingly, Elie and his family were ones to be put into a camp called Auschwitz. When they arrived at the camp, Elie and his dad got isolated from his mom and younger sibling, and from that point on he and his dad did not lose each other. Death was the best thing that could have happened to Elie WIesel. In his book, night, he has to overcome some of the most gruesome experiences ever read about, and it’s a true story. He had to get over working in terrible conditions, get over losing his family, and forget his future as his faith was lost. To start off, Elie had to get over the unbearable dilemma of losing multiple members of his family. It is unimaginable to lose any family members in such a horrid way, but that was only one of the barriers he had to face.

Elie Wiesel’s Experiences In the book Night, Elie Wiesel recounts his experiences of the Holocaust. Throughout this experience, Elie Wiesel is exposed to life he previously thought unimaginable and they consequently change his life. He becomes To begin with, Elie Wiesel learns that beings aware and mindful are more than just important. On many occasions, he receives warnings and hints toward the impending tragedy.

The novel Night by Elie Wiesel, which was first published in 1958, tells a great first-hand account of a terrible event named the Holocaust. In this story, it gives a detailed memoir of a young kid named Eliezar who has to endure this appalling crisis. As the Holocaust continues to go on around them, he and his family remain optimistic about their future. Even though they were optimistic, the Holocaust finally closes in on them. Once this occurs they were pulled away from their homeland and relocated to their designated site where they were split by gender.

In chapter one of Elie Wiesel’s memoir, Night, his purpose behind his use of excessive tragic irony is to display the astonishing amount of innocence and unawareness the Jews have about the Germans’ plans. For instance, Wiesel displays the Jews’ ignorance when he writes, ““There was joy, yes joy. People must have thought there could be no greater torment in God’s hell than that of being stranded here, on the sidewalk” (16). This exemplifies how the Jews truly believe that the situation was going to get better. This is tragically ironic because their situation was not going to get better, it was going to get much worse.

Chapter One Summary: In chapter one of Night by Elie Wiesel, the some of the characters of the story are introduced and the conflict begins. The main character is the author because this is an autobiographical novel. Eliezer was a Jew during Hitler’s reign in which Jews were persecuted. The book starts out with the author describing his faith.

I learned many things about the Holocaust while reading the book Night and some of them were that there is a process that they go through many times called selection, they treat them way more poorly than I thought they did, and I also learned how they were forced to separate and do what they say, otherwise they would be shot. Before reading the book Night, I had no idea what selection was and how it worked. I learned that you are put on a certain side because of many things such as how you look. I have read other books about the Holocaust and they treated them very poorly. I just realized how much worse it was than I thought and it was neat to hear about it from someone who actually went through it.
