After bringing out Caesar 's Dead body. Describing what a honorable man his was. And showing them how brutal his killing was. In act three the people are angered and overwhelmed the people kill an innocent man simply because he had the same name as one of the conspirators cinna . the complete chaos ensures rhom may not look seem like a positive reaction to antony 's speech but it is in fact what he wants which is shown through soliloquy through the lack of almost no reaction to brutus logical and ineffective speech it is obvious that antony 's speech is more effective over the people of rome as speeches as a whole this shows that emotional appeal causes a much bigger reaction than logic and reason. Also showing the power of words and how they can turn people into believing
In view of, Caesar becoming to ambitious, Brutus kills him. As Brutus begins to speak out at the funeral he asks,“Had you rather Caesar living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead to all free men?”(Shakespeare 42). With this
Antony states that Brutus killed Caesar after making a deceitful impeachment of ambition; making Brutus not an honorable man. Inspite
Antony’s Speech Using Rhetorical Appeals In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, after Caesar’s death, the Romans are conflicted about what should be done. After Brutus’ speech the Romans are ready to crown Brutus king and be on the conspirators’ side. Though Brutus then leaves the crowd while Antony delivers his speech, the crowd realizes what should be done of Caesar’s murder and Antony prevents the conspirators from getting away with the murder of Caesar.
In Cassius’s eloquent speech against Caesar, he primarily utilizes persuasion through tools such as pathos, rhetorical questions, and compare and contrast. Cassius uses pathos to begin his monologue when he claims, “I know that virtue be in you, Brutus, / As well as I do know your outward favor” (Shakespeare 1.2.95-96). By expressing that Brutus has “virtue” and “outward favor”, Cassius appeals to Brutus’s emotions, but not to an exaggerated extent. This emotional appeal is a persuasion technique because it is used in moderation and in pertinent locations. The context is appropriate since rather than using it as a tool to feed on Brutus’s emotions, Cassius only uses it to get Brutus’s attention as an appropriate hook.
In Antony’s speech to the people, he speaks about Caesar over his dead body. His words make the commoners feel something, as opposed to Brutus,
Rhetoric in the Speeches of Brutus and Antony The death of Caesar is a controversial topic and was even more controversial at the time of his funeral when when senators were trying to benefit from his death by getting the Roman citizens on their side. At Caesar’s funeral, two senators gave speeches as an attempt to get the roman people on their side. Out of the two speeches, Marc Antony’s speech was more effective because of his use of appeals and biases, being 100% true and had a larger variety of rhetorical devices.
In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar one of the main characters Caesar is killed in Scene 3 act 2.Then Brutus and Antony both give speeches about how bad they feel. Brutus gives a good speech by using all three of the rhetorical appeals to persuade the crowd to want to listen to what he say by using logos, ethos, pathos to his advantage. Brutus gives a better speech that draws the audience attention,Antony not as much. Therefor here are some very valid points on why Brutus’s speech used the Rhetorical Appeals better.
At the funeral, both of Caesar’s friends, Brutus and Antony, made a speech. In Brutus’s speech he was very concise and was saying that he did it all for Rome. Brutus used logos and ethos in his speech. To fortify his speech, he used logos which is logic and reason. In his speech, he says listen to my reasons and he goes onto his reasons that Caesar would have become ambitious and enslaved them all.
When Brutus was talking to the conspirators Brutus was going back and forth think if he should help the conspirators kill Julius Caesar. He was going back and forth because he was thinking of the power he could have and could rule Rome. The reason behind Brutus killing Caesar was for the better of Rome. If Brutus would not have killed Caesar, Rome would have turned into a dictatorship, and in turn it would have ruined Rome and all of its people. Brutus did not kill Julius just for the power to rule Rome, he killed Julius to save Rome from Caesar’s dictatorship.
Persuasive Essay Should Brutus join the conspiracy against Caesar? Some may want Brutus to dodge the conspiracy. While others prefer Brutus to join the scheme against Caesar. Brutus has the done the right thing, by choosing to join the conspiracy, and claims he carries reasonable judgements all throughout act I and act II, for joining the conspiracy. Brutus understands that he needs to do this for the people of Rome, he needs to do it to prevent tyranny, and he realizes that evil can come from a good person.
Brutus and Antony speak in Caesar's funeral, they use ethos, pathos, and logos to get their point across. With the use of the pathos, logos, and ethos Brutus gets the attention of the commoners. He asks the commoners if what he is going to say is going to offend them, if it does he asks of them to leave there and they all tell Brutus no. Antony speaks before Brutus and gets his point across but fails at his point and just gets the crowd thinking. Brutus than uses his speech techniques to win over the commoner’s ears to listen to him.
Brutus tries to impress the crowd by saying that Caesar was going to become a dictator. “Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men?” (ii. III.L 22-24). Brutus gives this reason to make the people think this murderous act was honorable.
Brutus wants to make the crowd feel like he is in a way the victim. In order to do that he says "As Caesar loved me I weep for him" so in a way the people feel bad for him. This emotional appeal did not persuade the audience considering the fact that he was if he truly did love Caesar as much as he said he would, then he would have tried to find a different route in getting rid of Caesar as emperor. Antony goes with the approach of making the people of Rome feel guilty. He tells the citizens "You all love him once not without cause what cause withholds you then to mourn for him" so they could reflect on their attitude towards his death.
Brutus delivers his speech in a laudatory manner by conveying Caesar’s deeds and claiming he was ambitious, although Antony contradicts Brutus’ claims and says Caesar spurned the crown with the intent to merely rule as a de facto dictator. Brutus’ speech reveals his motives were truly for the benefit of Rome given his nationalistic tone and Antony’s speech was merely used to obscure his true motives, which was to embroil Rome in a series of civil wars to attain power. Brutus and Antony’s speeches consisted predominantly of Pathos and Ethos, but it is Antony who ultimately it is Antony who prevails because of his almost disingenuous attitude and even use of Logos which is seen when claims that reading Caesar’s will would dishonor his compeers and even Caesar
People agreed and supported him ,steps down he tells the Roman citizens to stay and listen to Marc Anthony ,who arrives with Caesar 's body. Anthony calms the crowd. down and begins his speech agreeing with Brutus , and then cry 's out ( his ambition) and calls the conspirators Honorable Men. starts to persuade the people by saying that the conspirators committed an act of brutality toward ceasar and we 're traitors. Anthony spoke to the emotions of the crowd by crying and talking about all the good things that Caesar did for Rome in a persuasive tone there 's a major difference between the two speeches Brutus was very honorable and Anthony was very persuasive and smart ,Brutus was Honorable in a way that he always told the people the truth ,his speech was real short to the point and spoke to the logic of the people in the crowd for example .Brutus spoke in a dettach way about Caesar 's death .
