Bush’s relationship with the American citizens is comforting and soothing. Bush’s 9/11 Address was meant to influence everybody including the terrorist. They assume that America is going to stick together and get through this and they’re holding president Bush accountable because he promised this. After the message, the American people assume that the terrorist will be taken down.

President Nixon is one of the most famous Presidents in American history for being the first one to resign from office. While Nixon is famous for doing such an unthinkable act, he is also the one that gave one of the best and most well known speeches in political history, The Checkers Speech. The speech was given by (Senator at the time) President Nixon when he was running for Vice President on General Eisenhower’s Presidential ticket. A newspaper, the New York Post, had a front page with the headline "Secret Rich Men's Trust Fund Keeps Nixon in Style Far Beyond His Salary"; the article alleged that people were donating to a secret fund that Nixon had for his personal benefit in trade for political favors.

Introduction Hook: I never knew that one day, one idea could have such a big impact. That one thing could change the history, set up the rest of the country to follow suit with this specific topic, and things that need a change in general. Background: Over 50 years ago, on March 7, 1965, now known as bloody Sunday, segregation was still prevalent. At the time it was not allowed for blacks to vote at the time.

United States president, George Bush, in his nation-wide speech, “9/11 Address”, establishes himself as an American citizen as well. Which encounters to make his speech powerful in many of the people’s eyes. As president, Bush is influencing Americans and terrorist by letting them know with warning and threat they will regret what they have done. Bush’s speech makes the audience feel rapport with the citizens as the following was quoted, “..we stand together to win the war against terrorism..”, “I ask for prayers for all who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered.” While observing Bush’s speech he sees himself as one of the own citizens and not as the superior president.

“Nobody cares how tough your upbringing was. Nobody cares if you suffered some discrimination. And moreover, you have to remember that whatever you 've gone through, it pales in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured - and they overcame them.” (Obama 6) In the speech Obama had presented at the graduation class of 2013 at Morehouse College, he wants them to remember their struggles and be able to overcome them to do what is right.

Reagan’s melancholic yet optimistic tone uplifts the nation. Reagan’s uses diction in his speech to create his optimistic tone. “We’re still pioneers. They the member of the Challenger crew, were pioneers” (4). Reagan explains that everyone will do something that is new, which makes everyone a Pioneer.

Study hard in school. Be focused. In the end it’s your own responsibility to succeed. The teachers, the government and your parents can be supportive without you being supportive of yourself. The only one who can fulfill your responsibilities is you.

Tragedies, they will happen without a hint of awareness but they cannot be stopped or answered for. When they do occur it leads people to shock and grief. However tragedies brings forth something that gives people unity, hope, and direction. This something is called a leader and throughout history many people have embodied this quality. There are many instances where people have stood up an embodied this quality.

After the 9/11 attacks, America was devastated and distraught. America was in need of a leader. We needed someone to take us in and protect us, to make us feel safe again. George W. Bush (our president at this time) acted as our protector. He comforted America with his sympathetic words, but also managed to bring forth fear to the terrorist.

As a president of America, the credibility of Lyndon Baines Johnson is well-established. He did not have to establish his credibility as everyone already knows it and he is a trustworthy source. But, as his audiences are young adults, so he still try to boost his credibility at the beginning of the speech with the joke about coeducation college student partying to let the students know he has been there too. 2.3.2 Pathos This speech can be said as an emotional roller coaster as the emotional elements have its ups and downs.

On September 11th, 2001 the Twin Towers in New York City fell victim to a terrorist attack that left thousands dead, thousands more injured and millions in fear. Later that day George W. Bush, the President of the United States of America, created a speech to help calm the public about the events that occurred earlier that day. The speech was shown on national television the United States from the White House. The speech was effective because President Bush did help calm down the public with his speech. In President Bush’s speech to the public on the night of September eleventh 2001 he showed that his point of view was from the perspective that he was trying the comfort the American public.

This day was one of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil. More than 3,000 innocent people lost their lives that day. George W Bush had been president of the Untied States for less than a year at the time of the attacks.

On December 8th, 1941 Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered a speech to the House of Representatives, Members of the Senate, the House Speaker, to the Vice President, and to the American people. Franklin spoke of the incident of the attack on Pearl Harbor the day after it occurred. Mr. Roosevelt was stern and concise. He spoke on the occasion of tragedy to inform the House and the American people what the Japanese have done.

President Eisenhower, in his address to the country, more specifically the people of Arkansas, discusses the inevitable situation involving racial segregation occurring in Arkansas. Eisenhower’s purpose is to convey to the country that he will fight to preserve the decision that the Supreme Court came to on racial segregation. He adopts a personal tone in order to convey to the people of Arkansas that he understands how they feel in this situation. After establishing that he will do whatever is necessary to protect the rights of the students and connects with the Arkansas people by addressing the fact that his decision wasn’t based on his personal beliefs, Eisenhower shifts his focus to validating the citizen’s feelings of anger and feeling slighted. Eisenhower through logically crafted arguments asserts that he will use his powers to ensure the students’ rights aren’t withheld.
