Career & Accomplishments Roger Goodell had a history in the NFL long before he received the job as NFL’s new commissioner in 2006. Among his list of accomplishments is the fact that he’s been involved with the NFL since 1982 when he began as an intern. After working aside Lamar Hunt, the then president of the AFC, Goodell worked under Tagliabue, the NFL commissioner until Goodell succeeded him. Under Tagliabue, Goodell served as multiple talents including “director of international development and club administration, vice president of operations, vice president of business development, senior vice president of league and football development, executive vice president of business and football development, and executive vice president of business, properties and club services” (NFL, 2006). Once becoming commissioner, Roger Goodell did have a short list of accomplishments including aid “in expansion, realignment, stadium development, and international development” (NFL, 2006) of the league, as well as “launching the NFL Network and negotiations for the NFL’s television agreements and Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL Players’ Association” (NFL, 2006).

On Friday night, the annual Ely TIgers vs. DIllard Panthers football game was played. On the last play of the 4th quarter, Donnell Wilson made a touchdown pass that won the game. Although some say that the catch was not that great, I think it was due to the fact that he passed his defensive back, leaped to make the catch,and scored the winning touchdown. Part of what made this a great catch was Donnell leaping into the air to catch it. “Wilson made a leaping catch and landed safely in the end-zone capping an improbable come from behind win for the Tigers.”

Pete Rose: The Fall of a Star Athlete Often referred to by his nickname, “Charlie Hustle,” Pete Rose was one of the greatest players in the history of the Major League Baseball Association. Throughout his professional career, Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Montreal Expos as a stellar athlete. He also set a batting record that is still unbroken to this day (“Peter Rose Biography”). However, Pete Rose, a modern day tragic hero, fell in disgrace from stardom because of his limitless desire to gamble, resulting in his permanent ineligibility to be placed in one of baseball’s most important monuments, the Hall of Fame. His weakness for gambling led to his downfall and, like most tragic heroes, Rose could not see his own faults until it was too late.

The ball was deep in Green Bay territory with Dallas having the possession, down 34-27. A short pass was called by Landry to Pettis Norman, he is usually used as a blocker and not a receiver. Landry’s choice of plays did not have much confidence with Don Meredith. Frustration was transpired from it.

The New York Yankees are like no other team in the history of baseball. The Yankees have a historic and memorable franchise that never will be remembered as the greatest baseball team of the 20th century. People actually watch the football games, and they cheer not only for the touchdowns but also for every nasty hits and collision. The popularity of the intense head collisions invaded every social group, and eventually, it became a popular jargon, i.e. knock him over, and knock him to the moon. This is a proof that violence is one of the ultimate marketing strategies of the NFL. NFL exploited the intense and violent nature of football by marketing tapes, such as "Crash Course," "Search and Destroy," and Moment of Impact" (Kirk League of Denial). Clearly, the NFL ignores the seriousness of concussions, however, a turning point occurred from the discovery of the Webster's brain autopsy.

The NFL has had a problem with concussions for the last twenty years. Recent studies have shown that concussions hurt your brain in the long term of your life which is to be expected when getting hit in the head with 1600 pounds of force from an average defensive player. But this is exactly what the players signed up for. Lots of money now but they will most likely have medical problems in the near to distant future. Players are now getting penalized and even fined for hitting the head.

What the NFL has done to try and combat this is a start, however, we still need to build upon that and make sure that all players, from children to professionals, are kept as safe as possible from the mental degradation that decisions of lax football policy can

This unprofessional and dangerous form of bringing down someone is highly likely to create a helmet to helmet to collision, resulting in concussions. Programs such as “Heads Up Football” were created with the idealistic purpose to show the players how to properly tackle. The NFL commissioner is behind this program due to the fact that he believes, by affecting the learning process in the football, little leagues, this will impact the future of the NFL. Strictly because the foundation of football is now being taught on how accurately and precisely perform a tackle. With the abundance of head injuries that players are unfortunately suffering with, the NFL is trying to change the game so that it can be a safer zone for the players.

The flag protest generates conversation and awareness about topic. "In a situation like that, people are seeing it. We can report it”(“If there’s protest, NBC…”). This shows that if NFL players are doing controversial things that news outlets will report it.
