I would be a good fit in the Roger Williams University Honors program for a multitude of reasons. I obtain the qualities of someone who is ready to become a leader, as well as the best version of myself possible.I have participated in multiple activities, clubs, and service projects throughout my life. A few qualities that make me a suitable candidate would be, my motivation, dependability, and ability to put others before myself. During my four years at Sandwich High School, I was involved in numerous clubs and activities. This can be shown on my application;however, that list does not show the impact it had on me. From Sophomore year to Senior year, I was involved in PALS. This club gave me the opportunity to work with younger children in my community. It was very similar to the Big Brother Big Sister program. I was given the opportunity to influence and inspire others. I learned a lot from this opportunity. I learned that not everyone is as fortunate as myself, but most of all I learned how to be there for someone. I knew each week that even if I felt sick, I would be at that elementary school, helping that child to the best of my ability. On top of spending numerous hours at clubs, I could always be found studying or working on a project. I have always been interested in my …show more content…
I have been given numerous opportunities to prove myself, both in the classroom and out, and I believe I have done so. I made a positive impact on a younger peer, and I am proud of that. In my mind, that is one of my biggest accomplishments. I have maintained good grades, and challenged myself. I have learned how to balance myself. I have learned how to become a role model, and a leader. These are qualities that have grown and developed throughout my entire life, but became evident during my time at SHS. These are qualities that I hope to bring to the campus of Roger William University next
I Peter Walton should be selected as a member of the National Honor Society because I have clearly portrayed the four characteristics:character, leadership, service and scholarship both in and out of school. I have shown character in school by treating others with kindness and respect and have earned the citizenship award twice during my high school career. Also I work as a cashier at a restaurant and as such I must be very patient with all the customers which has made me grow in character. I have demonstrated the quality of leadership by assisting in class decisions as vice president and secretary, and by leading a second pardeeville curling team to the state tournament. In addition, I was a VBS group leader, meaning that I had to look after
Sydney VillacortaBuer 11/4/15 Contribution to U.S Roger Williams was a peace keeper, founder of a great colony and role model for the colonists and Native Americans when it came to respecting both sides and cultures. Williams believed in equality, so when he witnessed the Native Americans being disrespected, he was quick to react. This new author wrote a book called, “A Key into the Language of America.” This book introduced the Native American’s perspective.
PDA #2 In 1631, after arriving in Boston, Puritan minister Roger Williams preached in Plymouth and Salem. That was before he was banished from Massachusetts in 1635. Afterwards, Williams made a home for himself in Providence, Rhode Island. After spending the majority of his time amongst Indians while in Plymouth and Providence, he wrote a dictionary of New England Indian words while he was sailing back to England in 1643.
Roger Williams and John Eliot on Civic Duty The 1600s were a century in which most European powers seized land in the New World for economic and agricultural gain. However, for the English, their land in “New England” became a safe haven for Puritans and other (viewed) dissenters from England. Certain members of this community began to go beyond the required guidelines as a missionary of the Christian faith. These men did not only strive to better their own communities, but also to spread Christianity to the Native American communities, and establish living standards through the establishment of social responsibility.

Freedom to Prosecute Religion The New World is often thought of as a safe haven from religious persecution. Many future colonists had been persecuted for not accepting their countries' religious doctrine and were willing to travel long distances in search of religious freedom. A vast land away from the parenting company was a perfect place for a fresh start. Religious freedom would still be far from grasp, as many religious sects would continue their homelands traditions of persecution for many more years.
I feel as though I could benefit National Honor Society through my leadership qualities, willingness to dedicate my time to the community, positive character, and perseverance to succeed in academics. While I may not hold many leadership positions at this time, I am able to step up and take charge in any necessary situations. Additionally, one can see that it is important that I take time out of my day to serve others as I devote two hours each weekend to volunteer. My academic standing is also of importance to me, believing that consistency in school is a crucial factor in achieving success. I challenge myself by choosing to take any honors or AP classes available and striving to put forth utmost effort in each class.

I am proud of this accomplishment because it has gotten me a lot of good opportunities. For example I attend Young Women's Leadership Charter School, and there is an organization called Girl Power. I made a difference because I helped these students understand the materials they’re supposed to learn in class. This was eye opening because seeing how happy the kids understand something made me feel like a teacher. Personally, I learned kids love when adults care about them. They like it when I teach them math.
I decided then that it was important to start getting involved and start paying attention to the world around me. From then on, I have made it a priority to help others and be giving. Student-Athlete Leadership Team taught me to be a leader, a listener, a giver, and a role model for others. I realized that I am thankful for everything I have. This experience makes me want to help others as well as generate an impact on other people’s lives.
Coming from a small, diverse town and high school, with an overwhelming majority of low-income families, I learned to never take for granted the life I was given. More importantly, I learned that I have the opportunity to help people that are less fortunate than I am, in a wide variety of
As a future student of Florida State University, I have worked hard to become the best student I can be to better your community. I have learned to take hardships and turn them into positive fuel to reach my dreams. I have learned how to take loss and turn it into a gain. I was taught these skills by surviving a tough childhood. When my brother passed away I learned, at the age of five, that life can be unfair.
I enjoy being challenged and no matter how hard it is, I am always up for it. I love to dig deeper and expand my knowledge when learning to get a broader understanding of topics. The Honors Program will allow me to do that through its small class discussions. Secondly, I am very focused and take academics seriously. This program will surround me
