He served as President from 1981 to 1989. His goal was to achieve “peace through strength”. In 1986 Reagan obtained an overhaul of the income tax code. At the end of this the Nation was enjoying the longest recorded period of peacetime prosperity, without recession or depression. He faced criticism for his handling of the Iran-Contra scandal, which involved the sale of weapons to Iran and the funding of anti-communist rebels in Nicaragua. He also caved in to the Demands of Terrorist “ After several Americans were taken hostage by terrorist in Lebanon, Reagan provided weapons to Iran in Exchange for their release”. (Soapboxie). To me this didn’t show that he was a bad president, this proves that he was willing to do what it takes to get the American lives back. On March 30, 1981, President Reagan was leaving the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., when several shots were fired. Reagan was wounded when one of the bullets struck him under the left armpit. There was three other people wounded during the shooting. After Reagan spent twelve days in the hospital he was able to return to the White House. Reagan said to Nancy Reagan, “Getting shot hurts.” (Reaganlibrary) After this incident Reagan went back to the White House with a new commitment to change the US relationship with the Soviet Union. He was a bright man and never gave up even in tough
Ronald Reagan essentially tore down the soviet empire which basically ended the Cold war. Reaganomics was also a big accomplishment during his presidency. This was an economic plan; it included tax cuts, deregulation, and domestic spending restraint. All of this helped the economic situation which essentially lasted two decades! During this economic plan over 16 million new jobs were created throughout the country.
As the 40th president of the United States, Reagan was a huge component of ending The Cold War and was also a great communicator to other countries.
First, he helped engineer an economic recovery that would, with but one brief stutter, continue for nearly two decades. Nothing he did was more important for the long-term health of the economy than helping defeat inflation. Second, Reagan brought the Cold War to a successful conclusion on Western terms. He shared the stage with Mikhail Gorbachev, but in the end Reagan was victorious. Reagan’s third achievement was his most intangible.
At the time were he was elected president the country was in a deep recession and facing a lot of economic and military problems that affected their nation in every sense. He made policies and was a good leader which shifted the country back to strength after the failure of the previous Presidents. What Reagan achieved was a big success and a critical change in the Western civilization. Not every President is a leader and anyone can say words and speeches but few can change a nation’s future and have a large impact on a global level. America will never be the same as it was and with the following Presidents after this man America is and will be great
When Ronald Reagan was in office people did not think of him as a very good president at all, here is what one person had to say about him, “Reagan was not an extraordinarily well-regarded president during his eight years in office. He averaged a 53% job approval rating during his presidency, slightly below average for all U.S. presidents for which Gallup has recorded job approval ratings.”. More people had mixed reviews, Another person had said “Reagan 's ratings were higher than the averages of his three immediate predecessors, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, and Richard Nixon, supporting the arguments of those who contend that one of Reagan 's major contributions was to restore confidence in the presidency after the battering it took in the 1970s.”. Overall Ronald Reagan was a good president for a good amount of the time, also sometimes he was a horrible president. I’m not going to say he was the best all i’m going to say is that he could have done
Some people think that President Reagan did more damage to this country than he did help it and other people think that he was one of the best presidents we have ever had. However, I think that he was successful in completing his economic goals and not only pleased the American people but did it in a way that he thought was best for this country. Reagan drastically reduced inflation from that of the Carter administration (Reagan Economy and Society Slide 7). Reagan was also successful in his goal of Raising the Gross Domestic Product. Over the course of his administration he raised the GDP thirty-four percent which is an incredible growth when compared to that of other presidents.
Reagan, the 40th president of the united states was best known for his acting career before entering the political arena. Reagan’s great public speaking skills , wonderful sense of humor, and little to no experience in politics landed him the highest position in government in the United States of America. He was emowered by his supporter and doubted by skeptics like any ordinary president. Throught it all, history and facts regard him as one of the most effective and accomplished presents of all times. Ronald Reagan’s beliefs about equality transcended the American people’s idea of equality.

One of the main attributes of Ronald Reagan while in office is his constant striving for peace. He was elected at a time of war when a peacemaker was needed most. This war, called the Cold War, was between a few nations but America’s main adversary was the Soviets. Action needed to be taken but there was debate on what type. President Reagan knew a head on military clash with the Soviet Union would be catastrophic and far from worth it.
During his service the economy improved and ended the cold war. This is a such great thing that he did, in ending the cold war. I think that he did improve the economy by everything he was changing and fixing. Reagan’s main importance was for us to win the cold war because he thought all people deserved to be free. I think that he worked really hard to win the cold war, because he cared about everyone.
