Ronald Wilson Reagan By: Kess Kelly A famous man once said... "The most terrifying words in the English language are: I 'm from the government and I 'm here to help." This was said by our 40th president of the United States, Ronald Reagan.

On June 5th 2004, America lost one of the greatest American leaders. Americans are now dealing with post 9/11 and the loss of president Ronald Reagan. On June 11th 2004, Margaret Thatcher, former prime minister of Great Britain who concomitantly worked with Reagan before and during his presidency, delivered a eulogy speech to Americans. Thatcher starts her eulogy by talking about Reagan’s accomplishments that have not been achieved before. Thatcher uses imagery for Reagan’s goals by stating that he worked to “mend America’s wounded spirit, restore strength of the free world, and free slaves of communism.”

The 40th President of the United States (US), Ronald Wilson Reagan's character was above reproach. His charisma could inspire action in minutes. He was in office when the Cold War ended, his policies led the US economy to a generation of growth, and provided authorities for the entire intelligence community (IC).

The passing of who was once Ronald Reagan was one that affected not only the United States, but also the world. It was a loss we all felt, but it was felt more by those close to him. Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain was one who's Reagan's death affected at a more personal level. During her eulogy she's described him as a great president, American and friend with the usage of rhetorical strategies such as anaphora, repetition, comparison, parallelism, her usage of pathos and ethos and the strong personalizing, to describe him and pay her respect to him. Ronald Reagan, while many things, one of his biggest accomplishments is his long presidency.

Ronald Reagan was a very great Person. He had a great childhood life, he was a great president and he had a good life after presidency. He was an honored man. Regan will be remembered as a great person for many years to come. He was born on February 6, 1911, in Tampico, Illinois.

Some people think that President Reagan did more damage to this country than he did help it and other people think that he was one of the best presidents we have ever had. However, I think that he was successful in completing his economic goals and not only pleased the American people but did it in a way that he thought was best for this country. Reagan drastically reduced inflation from that of the Carter administration (Reagan Economy and Society Slide 7). Reagan was also successful in his goal of Raising the Gross Domestic Product. Over the course of his administration he raised the GDP thirty-four percent which is an incredible growth when compared to that of other presidents.

During his campaign, Reagan was outspoken with his conservative which prompted his pundits to name his presidency the Reagan Revolution. He had the ability to transform his victory to legislative achievements which testified to his skills. Many compared his charisma and leadership in his campaign to Roosevelt and Reagan made it a priority to compare himself to the New Deal President. During his Republican National Convention speech, he wanted delegates to continue the promise of the Roosevelt in his speech, “eliminate the unnecessary function of government.” Reagan’s comparison to Roosevelt fueled his desire to a leader like Roosevelt, exploiting the modern presidency and move the United States to “rendezvous with destiny.”

The phrase “Carrying the weight of the world on one’s shoulders” most appropriately describes the responsibilities of the President of the United States. Presidency is one of the most difficult jobs in the world mentally, physically, and diplomatically. It is extremely stressful and, as proved by history, extremely easy to make costly mistakes. In her eulogy, Margaret Thatcher uses her personal experience to discuss the strength and lightness of Ronald Reagan’s character. Through this, she describes instances in which Reagan applied these attributes, directly contributing to their overall success in order to illuminate the effectiveness of his leadership abilities as a President.

On the other hand, President Reagan brought a lot of change to America for the good and some for the bad. Nevertheless, people believed that he was never given full credit for the work he did while serving in office. He believed that if you were poor, it was because of the choices you made and lack of ambition toward providing a stable environment for yourself and family.

Many people said his personality was courage, courage that was natural to him, and a courage that was ultimately contagious. He also did do so much more like creating Reaganomics, strengthening nations, and improving many things in the economy. He also did many things that helped out the people, which was his main goal.

LEADERSHIP QUALITIES 26. The dictionary meaning of Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization, or the ability to do this. According to Dwight D. Eisenhower “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it. To become an effective Military Leader, one need to have some significant leadership qualities”.

I am very active in the classroom environment. I love to lead the groups and help organize when and what needs to be done in a project. I also help the group stay on task and help them when they need it. One final example of my leadership, is seen in the after school
