The Invisible Sea is the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea has been slowly drying up. Now the lakebed that has formed because of this is polluting the air with harmful toxins. Winds then spread these toxins and people inhale them. This increases the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and chronic respiratory disease.
This is happening because the water that usually flows into the Salton Sea is being diverted away and being sent to big cities for usage. Farmers are using less water which means less water is being drained into the sea. This is causing the dry up.
If the Salton Sea starts to dry up severely both wildlife and humans will be affected. The more it dries up, the more toxins are sent into the air. Residents that live near the Sea and even people that live very far away will inhale these toxins that can potentially cause cancer. Deaths have already occurred as a result of this and many more are bound to happen. The Salton Sea serves as an important stop for migrant birds. Without the Sea, they will become endangered, perhaps even extinct.

It’s not realistic because by doing that they’re exposing millions of people to the harmful toxins of the lake beds of the Sea and endangering wildlife. Accelerating the drying process is the last thing we need. Also, there is not enough funds for the long-term restoration of the Sea.
The Salton Sea Task Force’s recommendation is to restore between 9,000 and 12,000 acres of shoreline habitat by 2020 using available state funds.
Their plan is realistic because it involves using many the state has, which makes it a more obtainable goal in the long
INTRODUCTION The Cretaceous Period, spanning 65.5-146 million years ago (Mya), was a world different from what we are familiar with today. Planetary changes during this period included the extinction of dinosaurs and drastic global warming. The breakup of the super continent Pangea had started about 30 Mya, and seaways had begun to form and cover landmass that had once been a part of the super continent (Geologic Time). Today, scientists know that one of these landmasses, the North American continent as we now know it, was at one point covered by a vast inland sea known as the Western Interior Seaway.
Carson’s overall argument is that the sea is some magical place where the miracles of nature happen all the time. “All through the long history of Earth it has been an area of unrest where waves have broken heavily against the land, where the tides have pressed forward over the continents, receded, and then returned.” (Carson) She describes the sea
The Salton Sea is 110-year-old lake that covers 350 square miles but is becoming increasingly salty and smaller in area. Over 400 species of migrating birds are attracted to the marshes and the fish. This essay will focus on three primary ethical dilemmas presented by the Salton Sea issue: Who/What matters more in this situation?
California dry from all of its water people trying to sell or just moving anywhere else. The drought has been going on for many years and slowly California is running out of water. If the government of California does not do anything the people may start to attack farmer to get water or the government may go for the people. The farmers are using all the water and people are losing their water.
In major league baseball the late 80’s through early 2000’s can be described as the “Steroid Era”, in which many athletes were caught using performance-enhancing drugs that resulted in higher offensive performance, especially the number of home runs per season. As professional baseball is getting more and more competitive many athletes look to unethical ways to gain physical advantages over other players by taking steroids. For instance, Mark Mcgwire admitted to using steroids and had a phenomenal increase in offensive statistics in 1998 compared to other seasons. In his season of 1998 he broke the baseball single season home run record of 70 home runs, which was far more home runs he had hit compared to previous seasons when he wasn’t
The cause of all this is the unregulated pumping of groundwater out of aquifers by California 's farmers in the Central Valley. As water is drawn out of these reservoirs, their structural integrity fails and they consequently collapse, causing the land above to sink. Once the aquifers collapse, their maximum capacity is reduced, so they cannot be fully refilled during wet periods. Less water will be stored and pumped, which is a major concern for drought years in the future.
But can aquariums really make it as natural as the ocean? Taking Orcas away from their natural habitat and their family is one reason
As well as, SeaWorld’s money is dropping at a very fast rate. Seaworld should be closed to end the companies dropping of money completely, to let the animals’ live free lives, and to save the Orcas. First, Seaworld has experienced a big drop in money. In the past year, they have dropped one million visitors (Cornin). One person’s admission in the park is 30
And it will be an echo of humanity for their actions, because less sea food will be available to
If sharks go extinct it can cause a disastrous effect on the food chain; coral reefs could possibly die and fisheries could collapse. Keeping sharks alive helps keep a healthy and regular balance in marine life. The oceans
If the situation gets worse enough, thousands, if not millions could die. Other than causing possible human death or harm, increased ocean levels will put more strain on the world’s agricultural systems since many farmlands will be contaminated with salt water. Also, rising ocean levels will lower land and water biodiversity. Imagine a world with no penguins, polar bears, or even predatory fish. This may become a
From birth, every individual is seemingly altered by outside influences. People, conditions, and environment all play a role in the overall character of a person. Whether these influences are good or bad, it can impact a person drastically. Some events are more powerful and affect a person more heavily than others. In both reality and in Wide Sargasso Sea, societal beliefs play a role in the outcome of a person as a whole.
Although we have explored less than five percent of our vast oceans, humans have set them on a path to devastation long before we could discover the rest. Mark Prigg for dailymail.com warns by the end of the century, the oceans will have been damaged to an irreversible point. Without the oceans, the global climate cannot be regulated, where the world’s environmental state would then be far worse than what we have seen to be possible by, for example, global warming. It begins with our oceans becoming filled with various forms of waste by humans, atmospheric changes causing acidity in water increase, and imbalances of organism life leading to lower levels of oxygen. How the oceans may die is crucial to understand in order for them to be preserved for the survival of the planet.
The sea is composed of a large body of salt water that covers the majority of the Earth'[Inserted: the ]s surface (Dictionary, 2016). Hundreds of sea animals live beneath the surface of the water. Some are about to be discovered, but even though people already know them, others still make them [Deleted:s]curious when they do something that rarely happens in the world. Furthermore, it is interesting to discover new things and add new knowledge to what other people already know. Before, human beings thought that sea animals are just there to make their stomach full, but there is more to these sea animals than what they think.
Now another natural cause of global warming is the rising of the seas. The biggest reason for sea level rising is that global warming is causing the air to be warmer and that 's causing glaciers and ice-caps to melt. Sea level rise would affect about 11 out of the 15 biggest cities in the world. The reason this is happening because gases are being released into the atmosphere which is causing the temperatures to rise, which causes the seas to rise. Sea level rising means more money that we have to spend for people living on the coastlines because coastal populations are growing and people are crowding into coastal areas and that area could be underwater in a few years if sea levels keep rising how they have been.
