Service To Junior High School

National Honor Society Application It is an honor to be selected as a candidate for the St. George’s National Honor Society. I have been working toward this opportunity for many years. I understand how many doors this will open for me by introducing me to better colleges, better jobs, and a better life. I believe I am fit for a position in this organization because I serve my community, exhibit leadership, and demonstrate outstanding character. My service hours will benefit my community and those around it.

I have volunteered at the Catholic Worker House preparing and serving food. I have also served food at the Salvation Army. I have volunteered at the Cedar Valley United Way, helping them with stuff around the office. Outside of school service I help my grandma, who has had a stroke. I'm always there to help her clean and get around the house.

I demonstrate my outstanding achievements in service through the clubs and teams I participate in. I’ve organized many teen outreach events targeted towards middle and high schoolers such as lock-ins and dances, but I have also organized community service events targeted for the whole base, for example barbeques. A recent example of this would be the Ramstein Color Run taking place next month. Being a Girl Scout for 7 years taught me to appreciate and enjoy taking action in the community. From a young age, I became used to helping around my community.

One of the first times that I volunteered was for a summer camp at my church. At this camp, I was assigned to the craft station. Every morning we were in charge of gathering the materials to make the craft kit’s needed for that day 's crafts, and

My reasons for wanting to attend a service academy are opportunity and service. Attending a service academy is an honor not experienced by many. I see the United States Naval Academy as a world of opportunity. Since I was younger, I have had a desire to protect and serve. I didn’t know about the Naval Academy until just a couple years ago, so I had my heart set on becoming a police officer.

Over the course of 120 hours, I helped the children during swim lessons, played with them and entertained them, and assisted the counselors in making the day run smoothly, all for no monetary or personal benefit. I also helped out the parents of the community by keeping their children safe and happy while they went to work.

Finally, in my 5th grade year at LaPerche Elementary, I created an organization that helped soldiers. I worked with my 5th grade teacher to help spread the word. I collected all sorts of toiletries and essentials for soldiers that had been deployed. As you can see, being a good citizen is near and dear to my

I have been considering and trying to aim for National Junior Honor Society since I have entered this school. This would be a wonderful experience if I could become a member of the National Junior Honor Society Chapter. Although, I am not involved in a numerous about of clubs or extracurricular activities in school. I am in a couple of organizations, do community work and work related jobs outside of school that demonstrates my skills, such as leadership and providing me experience. I like to make my community a place where people can get along and that it is comfortable for at least most people since not everyone will be like that.

Ever since I was little, my mom stressed me to be a leader. By this she meant don’t be like everyone else and look up to a person, but be the one who everyone looks up to. Being a leader isn’t an easy thing to be because you must be a role model 24/7. In my opinion I’m a leader academically and physically. Excelling when it comes to grades and on the football field.

In order to be confirmed at my church there is a required amount of service hours. Church leaders plan two or three Wednesday night service events so that we could get some of the hours done. It is a nice way to get out of the church to go and help people in the community. Service is done all voluntarily so that no one feels forced to go out and do it. One place in particular that I love going back to is Feed My Starving Children (FMSC).

Throughout high school I have participated in many different activities and programs, but one of the opportunities I was given I will carry with me forever. As a junior at River Valley I participated in the Marion General Teen Volunteer Program. After interviewing and being placed in the physical therapy unit I took the opportunity to branch out into other areas of the hospital. I soon made my way to the labor and delivery floor where everyday a miracle happened. My duties while volunteering included assisting the nurses during hearing checks, changing diapers, and rocking crying infants in special care.

Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, the greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring to your own life.” This quote clearly explains what service truly means to people that care about others from their heart. National Honor Society is an organization which recognizes students’ achievements not just with exceeding grades, but with service, leadership, and character. Serving others is an important and valuable pillar of the National Honor Society.

I have played volleyball for six years now. Our volleyball season can revenue three months longer. This past season I was on the junior varsity team. In the upcoming season I will be playing on the varsity team. These teams prepare myself for my future because they help me learn how to collaborate with others.

Through the readings of the last week, I have learned a great deal about ‘Service Learning’. It is a combination of teaching and learning approach for teaching public health issues and improving health literacy. It is an integration of academic learning and community services to strengthen civic engagement. It is helpful in promoting cooperation, teamwork, civic responsibility, solving complex problems etc. (Service learning, 2016).

Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
