There are public schools all over the world and those in public schools are not getting the proper education that they need. It seems public schools only provide the public with the bare minimum. This bare minimum can become very discouraging to parents, students and the entire public community in which the school is. Most Supreme Court rulings agree that school districts across the nation, and across the world, really only need to provide the bare minimum legally. This present an issue, if the professionals are only supposed to give the bare minimum then they themselves will be given the bare minimum. The reality is that most school professionals give way more than the bare minimum because even though they are supposed to just meet the requirements of …show more content…
Although, many options exist and no matter where you stand on the issue on how to educate our youth or children, all the funding should exist even more so in our public schools especially in the early years pre-k and kindergarten or elementary school students. This is so important because even if people are all for charter schools, private schools or home schools; those special students will eventually have to work and live next to majority of the students who went through public schools and it is very important that the public school kids get the absolute best guidance through their early years. If we do not give them everything we got we will end up with many problems. The problems we will have are not just people who have low reading and math skills but also potentially people who have low self-esteem and have many different mental problems. Public school funding goes beyond simply reading, writing, and math. There are so many extra activities in school that every child should get a chance to be a part of including guidance and other mental health activities that will help him be a better person. In some schools spending per student exceeds $10000 per year but the graduation rate is below 50 percent for example in Detroit. Detroit spends about 11100 per year on each student but only 25 percent of their student’s graduate high school. Policymakers should focus on reforming policies and resource allocations to improve student achievement. According to the National Center for Education Statistics 52 percent of public Education expenditures are spent on instruct and this percentage keeps decreasing overtime. Children who benefit from the school choice program usually have higher test scores than their peers.
Schools, they are meant to help children learn right wrong, basic life skills, and how to become intelligent adults. Students start school around the age of three and stay in it for as long as they need; however, school are failing to turn students into intelligent working adults. Parents are told when their children are struggling and when they are succeeding, but are they really succeeding? Humans are strange creatures; we become upset about the strangest things, and labeling children is just as bad as eating their snack during snack time. When children hear that they are either good or bad they start to believe this.
Combined with the 2000’s recession crises, many high schools and elementary schools have decreased resources or even cut classes in subject areas that are not part of No Child Left Behind 's accountability standards. Since 2007, almost 71% of schools have reduced instruction time in subjects such as art and music to provide more funding to Math and English (http://www.ed.gov/esea). In some schools, even though art and music remain available, students who are not on level with basic skills are sent to remedial reading or math classes rather the other optional
It is my belief that charter schools should be held accountable for addressing the needs of the same student population. The New York City Department of Education, in collaboration with the Office of School Health, has implemented programs to address mental issues in schools. Charter schools should implement the same services to the students who are enrolled I their school, opposed to discharging them to the public school they are sharing the building with. The disparity in testing scores and graduation rates will remain the same if the policy remains the same.
Depression sets in and you leave the room hoping not to bear another minute of this miserable day. Within the American school system, the goals to help students gain personal fulfillment and help create good citizens are contradictory. One cannot think for themselves and pursue personal interests while being socialized to fit into society, it is an oxymoron and it is a belief of nation. Truly, school systems need to understand that while individuality is an important factor in self-growth, some conformity is necessary for societies to function.
Recently, more and more schools all over the country have turned to dress codes. Some people say that dress codes teach professionalism and protect students. However, schools should not have dress codes because dress codes target girls and limit their freedom of expression. They also are hard to enforce and students break them anyways. Arpu Reed Professor Kamara English 102-004 6 March 2018 Why society needs free secondary tuition We as a society face several dilemmas that impact us in a detrimental manner. One of these difficulties or issues is students are being compelled to pay strangely high educational cost in addition to other things. A portion of the issues society face because we don't have free educational tuition is the high dropout rate due to financial problems, the limitation on who can attend, and the extreme stress students face because of this problem.
Many aspects of public education are problematic. For example, the usefulness in grading systems (other than IB schools) are questionable. It cages up creativity and makes the students unmotivated. Also many times the grading system is just wrong. When students write something and give it to the teacher to grade sometimes they can get a horrible grade.
Why “Required” Classes are not Needed Past Middle School Classes that are required for graduation limit a students time, forcing them to “learn” massive amounts of information that are ultimately irrelevant to their future career. The things that people memorize in high school are quickly forgotten. Students are expected to know about what they want to do with their career in their Junior year of high school when they begin to apply to colleges, and yet most adults seem to think that at the same time teens are incapable of deciding exactly what skill sets and ultimately what classes are needed to get them there. Required classes limit a student’s ability to get a feel for what college is like. If students are constantly babied, reminders of
Education is vital to one’s life and well-being, however since education isn’t free so many kids around the world can’t take advantage of it simply because of their economic status. When people become educated, it allows them to develop different perspectives and would not only see an improvement in their life, but in society as a whole. There’s no doubt that education is the most important thing to enhance the lives of individuals. Without it, kids aren’t able to reach their full potential, causing citizens to experience major issues in life such as a low standard of living, ignorance, and among other things. Education should be free for everyone, regardless of their economic background, because every individual is important and should have the equal opportunity to better themselves.
In recent years, the number of people who have been attending university greatly increased, consequently, arguments have continued as to whether students should pay for this prerogative or not. With no doubts, everything has its two sides and the problem of whether the university fees should be paid by taxpayers or not is not an exception. Still, there are people who believe that authorities should take the responsibility for funding the university fees. However, others disagree and opine that it is solely the responsibility of students to pay for their higher education that is in a direct connection to their prospering future career and life in general. In this way, it is important to review both sides of this controversial question.
