This topic has been spoken about highly; many people are pushing towards getting this amazing sport into the Riverland, to bring the many rugby fans and community together. Though many people are dismissing the sport not only due to its dangerous nature, but also because of the expenses that might need to be paid to bring the idea forth. So the question is, should contact rugby be allowed in the Riverland? If the sport was allowed to be played in the Riverland, it would be set up like other respective sports in the Riverland, such as football, cricket and soccer. By creating clubs respectively in each suburb, Berri, Renmark, Loxton, etc. This would bring an overwhelming amount of people to the sport from all of the Riverland. While playing rugby there could be possible injuries that could severely impact on a person’s life. Or in a really bad situation could be life threatening. Statistics show that 31.2% of injuries is caused by being tackled, which happens on a gamely basis. And when injuries do occur, it is shown that nearly 60% of all injuries are made up of sprains and strains, even though the risk of more major things such as fractures, superficial injuries and concussions are all under 10%, it is still a possibility that someone could get seriously injured while playing . Some people could take this overwhelmingly and would want to stay away from playing. There could also be the problem of drug influences, players could take them to make them play better or take them because they might not be feeling they are good enough to play, whether or not that is peer pressure. In conclusion, should contact rugby be allowed to be played in the Riverland in my opinion, absolutely. A huge amount of people would come and play, bringing the community closer and putting the Riverland on the map. Yes there are the negatives of possible injury and drug problems; they can both be strictly monitored, making the sport fair and fun for everyone. Bringing rugby to the Riverland would be financially successful and would give the fans of Rugby the care and attention it should be

While doing so, he also provides solutions to limit the number of injuries football players endure. While comparing rugby and football, Munger notices that even though rugby has less safety equipment, larger fields, and longer game time, they have fewer concussions than football. He states, “in professional rugby union, there are far more tackles per game (about 220 versus about 90). Yet it is football that has more concussions — about seven concussions every 10 games this year, while rugby has ‘only’ 2.5” (Munger). This supports Munger’s claim, which is that football tackling is too dangerous and needs to be changed, by displaying evidence that proves, despite the excessive safety equipment, football has a problem with its disproportionate amount of injuries.

The debate over whether or not student-athletes should receive money has been a hot topic recently. College athletes should benefit monetarily for their efforts because of the serious risks involved, the time the athletes put into it, and if the college is making money off these students they should financially benefit from it. Playing college sports is a dream for some kids, but many do not fully comprehend the issues involved in college sports. There is real danger involved with playing any sport, players can get seriously injured. The physical risks involved in sports are extensive.
With football being the source of all this grief, restriction of the game in order to prevent these abhorrent issues remains the only
Tackling in Youth Football Should be Banned Imagine a nine year old boy who loves laughing. He is energetic, and it seems like he is always doing something. He is getting ready for the big football game later one afternoon. He has been waiting for this day for two weeks; it is finally here.
Health and contact sports are something parents worry about as over 500 deaths in the past 3 years from contact sports alone are making parents stand out against these sports and if the government doesn 't do anything about it the number of 7% overall contact sports drop will just keep getting lower and lower each time. Dr. William Speight also had this to say “Many other kids have suffered paralyzing spinal injuries”(Pennington). Kids being paralyzed is the fear for many athletes these days and the number f kids getting paralyzed has increases 2% which is equivalent to about 8,000 kids each year which is crazy to think about kids can 't play sports for the rest of thrie and maybe not be able to live their life because of it so next you hear mom or dad i wanna play sports your answer should be a simple NO. Football, although fun and exciting, plays an immense role in many long term health issues especially for people who start at a young age. The sport’s injuries include long term health issues such as chronic encephalopathy, ALS, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia; it also can be a reason for domestic violence, and on some occasions, unnecessary death. There are many factors that can persuade parents to believe that football is a safer sport than it was before, but the long term effects of a simple injury from the sport outweighs it all. In Ed Riley’s article, High School football’s benefits outweigh risks, Riley talks about the concerns that any parent would have when it comes to their child playing football.
Football should be a Olympic sport because it is the top watched sport in the USA, and more and more people watch it every day and i would bet you that you have watched the nfl hardest hits. Contact sports involve touching, hitting, or banging other children, which is often why children get hurt in these sports. Among teens, concussions and death have happened. While these sports increase the strength of teenagers as they partake in a school activity, the risk of injury and death is great. The health benefits of contact sports do not outweigh the risks of playing them. The leading causes of death and accidents in sports are caused by concussions.
If contact sports aren’t banned, many children are going to get injured and possibly affect them for life. So ff you have a child that plays contact sports or you are a child that plays contact sports, stop playing now for your own
Rugby players enraged to find out that there will be no Rugby in the 1924 Olympic Games. Due to the new image of the game, the inability to attract more than 3 teams and the departure of Baron Pierre De Courbetin as head of the Olympic Movement has lead to the fall of this beloved Olympic sport. (Exclusion) “French fans booed and hissed at the American team for the rest of the game after Adolphe Jauréguy was flattened by a hard tackle.” Said Leonard Mcgriff, 45, Medevac.

In the beginning of my Freshman year, I joined my high school’s rugby team. When I joined the team I had no background knowledge on the rules or how to play rugby. My first rugby season was very frustrating and challenging. Within the first week almost every girl excelled due to their knowledge on proper technique; while I struggled tremendously. I decided to stay and continue to learn how to play rugby because I believe in striving to achieve my desires, but at times I felt stuck in the same place on the same level.
Abstract The process of risk management can be implemented as part of a best practice management system within the sport organization and sport sector. The process enables risk factors that might lead to injuries to be identified and the levels of risk associated with activities to be estimated and evaluated. This information can be utilized proactively by sports governing bodies and participants to identify preventive and therapeutic interventions in order to reduce the frequency of occurrence and/or severity of injuries within their sports. The acceptability of risk within specific sports, however, is dependent on the perceptions of the participants involved to sport activities.
