Peter Appleton and John Proctor are both similar and different in their own way. They both are in similar situations when they are faced with similar moral dilemmas. They both are coming from different time eras so the dilemma for both of them are of course going to be different. In John Proctors case he is facing the dilemma of him and his wife being accused of witchcraft, and with just being accused of witchcraft no one wanted to associate with you in any way. Peter Appleton’s dilemma is that he is a big Hollywood film writer and living the American dream, but things start to go down because he has been accused of communism. When all of a sudden Peter goes to work the next day to find out no one was working in the office, so his boss comes up to him and had told him he has been accused of communist activities. He does not deny it, because it turns out he had joined some type of organization back in his college years to impress a girl whom he had thought he was in love with. Peter really valued his life and his career very much, you could tell just by his actions throughout the film. One night he went for a drive and he had swerved off the road and had crashed to wake up with he had no recognition of who he was. Long story short an elder man found him on the beach mistaking him as his son Luke who had originally died at war and never returned home until now he had thought. The doctor had said he would soon start to remember things and as soon as he did he remembered who he was and what moral dilemma he was facing. Soon enough he had his court hearing and his lawyers had a statement for him to read specifically so he would not go to jail and he would be able to go back to his life in Hollywood, and forget all the events that had happened. While facing the court, Peter had decided to not go through with his lawyers plan and he decided to take manners into his own hands. With that being said he had proven the court wrong and was free to go and to remain living his

Peter had to survive an animal stampede, and they helped them to get closer to winning the game. It was their best role, and the animal stampede split up after awhile. Both men had a successful time getting through this
Peter spent his days as a young man, mixed with foreigners in Russian and outside as he often travelled to Western Europe – spending a year mostly in England and Holland visiting shops, military fortifications, ship building facilities (working as a carpenter there) and any other institute which offer up knowledge about European technology and political and economic structures. From this point of view it’s not difficult to see why Peter was so obsessed with Western Europe; not only was he basically immersed in it during his early years but it caused could have even caused him to not be able to see how any country could be governed without Western European
Many could argue that John Proctor is not a tragic hero, but actually, he is. Proctor was a very respectable, well known man and he had the courage to admit his affair with Abigail in front of the whole courtroom and ruined his good name. He could have saved his wife and let everyone die but no, he decided to do the right thing and confess. He didn't care if he lived or died, he just wanted all of the killing and accusing to stop.

In the Puritan New England town of Salem, many people are trying to keep a good reputation and their names out of witchcraft. A group of girls go dancing in the forest with a slave named Tituba. While dancing, they are caught by the minister, Reverend Parris. One of the girls, Parris’s daughter Betty, falls into a coma but no one is sure if shes in a coma or this is caused by witchcraft. A crowd gathers in the Parris home while rumors of witchcraft go around town.
If someone has ever seen a person help out another, then they know how good a person can be. John Proctor was that type of person. He was the type of person to believe in moral values and to honor oneself. He believed in the Bible and the Ten Commandments. John Proctor made choices that may not have been morally ethical, but we will examine Mr. Proctors actions and beliefs which lead to his demise.
John Proctor is allowing his name to be muddied while still preserving his name as a husband. The town is seeing him as impure; but all he cares about is saving his wife. John Proctor saving his wife, is allowing him to look at himself in the mirror and say “I may not be the best man, but I am trying to better myself as a husband.” The concept of looking at yourself in the mirror, being able to sleep at night, or meeting St. Peter at heaven’s gate, all are the reason he destroyed his fake confession.
Although Salem, Massachusetts was founded on religiously centered morals, nevertheless it turned to sinful behaviors because Arthur Miller wants to demonstrate that community can be shaped by social pressures. Arthur Miller portrays the detriments of a close-knit community and illustrates how small Salem truly is through everyone knew each other's business. One night, John and Elizabeth Proctor had an argument over Abigail Williams. Elizabeth accused John of cheating with Abigail and told him “if it were not Abigail that you must go to hurt, would you falter now? I think not” (Miller 52) Elizabeth Proctor supports her accusation of adultery with this statement.

The affair took place between him and Abigail. In the play they are at court and Proctor is upset because and lashes out towards Abigail. Claiming she would lead him away from Elizabeth and dance on her grave.
Peter the Great led the first westernization of Russia in history, permanently changing Russia and its culture permanently. By the time Peter came to power in the late seventeenth century, Russia had fallen behind Western Europe in terms of becoming a modern society. Technologically, and culturally Russia was centuries behind, it had had no Renaissance, no Reformation, and no Scientific Revolution unlike the West. Russia was effectively seen as medieval Europe, with little to show for itself compared to its far advanced neighbor. This is what Peter wanted to change whilst in power; he wanted to achieve ‘Western ends’ of modernity in anyway possible.
Peter is ruthless becasue he feels no emotions or regret in killing/murdering his parents due to not getting his way.
