Similarities Between Hamilton And Federalists

The Federalists believed in many things and had strong support. They believed in strong federal government and rule by the wealthy class, which caused them to favor the idea of national bank and business. They argued that the national bank was allowed because the Consitution gave Congress the power to issue money and regulate trade. They also trusted a loose interpretation of the Consitution, this made them think they had implied powers, which were powers not included in the Consitution. Another thing that the Federalists believed in was protective tariffs.

A connection to this would be it to Thomas Jefferson to many he is a known Anti-Federalists and he disapproves of a strong central government and allowing the most frequent power that is more spread out towards the people and states. And Thomas Jefferson main reason for entering office is to limit the influence of the national government. So Jefferson so began to everything that the Federalists had established. In class, we analyzed which party did Jefferson lean toward comparing his acts as presidents and categorizing them as Federalist and Antifederalist actions. After categorizing these Jefferson’s contributions during his presidency it seemed as if he was leaning towards a Federalist view even though he strictly labeled himself as an Anti-Federalist.

The original political parties in America differed on their views for many things. For instance, a national bank, amount of strength for the government, and the interpretations of the Constitution. One of their biggest disagreements is the view of an alliance with the British vs. an alliance with the French. The Federalists wanted a British alliance over a French alliance.

The topic I would be doing would be on/about Alexander Hamilton in regards to The Federalist Papers. This topic is significant, because it draws on the Founding Father whose writing influenced/shaped the composition of the Early American Republic, and has given rise to many institutions/developments that can be traced to this day. As quite a controversial and well-debated document, The Federalist Papers was designed as a series of essays used to defend the Constitution—upon which we still call upon today. On September 17, 1787, The Philadelphia Convention emitted their own new constitution to the states for ratification. Instead, The Federalist profoundly accepted the Constitution for several reasons, which included that this new constitution allowed for higher and further central government, that was formerly undermined under the Articles of Confederation. In the other hand, The Anti-Federalist, did not want a authoritative and dominant central government, but instead, powerful state governments; in response to the new constitution, many of the Anti-Federalists began writing different essays and creating pamphlets as a means of arguing against it. In retaliation to the Anti-Federalists experiment at earning states to not rarify the Constitution, many federalists advanced a group of essays known as the Federalist Papers, which argued for the ratification of the new law system.

The clash of the two ideas of the Federalists views of the constitution were highly against the views that the Democratic-Republicans. Thomas Jefferson believed in a strict construction of the Constitution. He believed people should follow exactly what was stated and allowed in the document. On the other hand, Alexander Hamilton believed in a loose construction of the Constitution, and also the national bank. Members of the Democratic-Republican party generally believed that a strong federal government would weaken the rights of the states and the people and insisted on a strict construction of the Constitution.

Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist had different ideas did Thomas Jefferson and the Republicans. (Schultz, K. M. 203). The Federalists believed they could learn a lot from Great Britain and that the United States should be designed like England 's government. they wanted centralized bank and Federal Constitution.

On the other hand, Democratic-Republicans wanted a more strict interpretation of our constitution. The original political parties in America differed on their views of loose or strict interpretation of the constitution. The Federalist believed the constitution said they had implied powers. Alexander Hamilton was the founder of this political party and he influenced members on how they should interpret the constitution.

Jefferson's democratic-republican party views are always contradictory to the Federalist party founded by Alexander Hamilton. Jefferson believes in small federal government and more powers to individual states, his policies are around people and they should rule the government. Jefferson always follows strict constitutional rules. Jefferson always believed the country economy will improve through the agriculture. Hamilton views are very contrasted to Jefferson's view.

The two parties were the Republicans and the Federalists. The Republicans hoped government took a lesser approach to everyday life. Its individualistic perspective includes living in moderation, be tough, don’t spend more than you have to, and be honest. These lofty goals and ambitions were reasonable in the late 1700’s, early 1800’s, however, now most

Populism and Progressivism were two very important movements in US history, that occurred during the outbreaks of the workers union after the civil war. These movements led to the formation of the Populist party in 1892 and the Progressive party in 1912. While there are many similarities between the two movements, they are also very different. The two parties fought for very similar things.

Federalists and Anti-Federalists had opposing views in the Constitution because of their differences; but they also had many similarities that ended up leading to the ratification of the Constitution. Anti-Federalists and Federalist had many similarities. Both were supportive of this new country and knew that they needed a government. They both wanted the congress to have power to create war and to create treaties.

One concerned foreign policy, while the other concerned the rights of citizens. Adams wanted to follow in Washington’s footsteps and not go to war with Britain, instead to be neutral for war and decrease foreign intervention. Federalists, in general, were men of wealth and position. They did not believe in democracy, rule by the people. For this reason, they strongly opposed the revolution in France.

Federalist, such as John Adams, were seen as anti-liberty aggressive bureaucrats and the Republicans planned to secede in secret if they took they lead. This plan was never actually taken into affect; or very seriously for that matter. They made Adams out to be some sort of godless heathen with questionable morals and views so people would avoid voting for him. Democratic-Republicans were heated because Adams refused to engage in a war, which they believed was in order because of the French treated them. They were outright furious and many groups protested their president’s decision.

Hamilton vs. Jefferson Visions to Reality     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton both had very defined visions of the scope and power of the new federal government, how they saw the future of the economic development, and what the United States society should become. In my opinion Alexander Hamilton had more of an impact on the United States during the 1820’s and on contemporary government when compared to Thomas Jefferson. His policies did not strictly work during that time and many of his ideas are still seen in today’s society. Jefferson’s views and ideas on/of the national bank, higher tariffs, debt assumption, The Federalist Party, and his support of the ratification of the Constitution are all reasons in why his policies and visions came closer to becoming a reality.     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, molded the gatherings that provoked to the twofold party system under which the U.S. works today.
