Optimism is hopefulness for the future, and, like me, most people get their optimism from their roots, or how they were brought up as a child. My parents would always remind me from a young age that being pessimistic will not help you achieve your goal, so you might as well be optimistic and try. They have always taught me from a young age, and never denied or doubted, that with optimism comes opportunity, and that optimism is, in fact, the key to success. Over the years, I’ve learned that the more optimistic you are, the more creative you can be. With optimistic attitude, one can generate new ideas and create possibilities to move forward faster and more efficiently than at normal times, due to an open mind. I am so thankful for everything I have in my life, like my family and friends, and reminding myself of that gives me a positive outlook on life. When something goes wrong, I am quick to remind myself that it can be worse, and that everything will be fine. I know that many more people have it hard out there, but appreciating what I have brings happiness into my life. My friends also give me joy, making me laugh about every little thing in our conversation. When we talk about the future, no one is pessimistic. Positivity can affect not only one’s self, but those around them as well. In the face of responding to conflict, positivity can reduce stress and anxiety, help health, and provide a better environment. During times of conflict, positivity has been proven to reduce both stress and anxiety. In an article from the Mayo Clinic Staff, they commented that “Indeed, some studies show that personality traits such as optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your well-being” (Mayo Clinic Staff).

I believe that pursuing happiness as a goal has detrimental effects. As a society, we tend to believe that we need to be full of joy at all times, but that isn't realistic - life happens. By attempting to be cheery all the time, you will never be genuinely content. You will always be searching for more and won't be satisfied with what you have, creating a permanent cycle of gloom rather than bliss.

Life is not about being born, go to school get a degree, amass wealth, get married, raise a family and die to be buried. There is more to life than just this process. Like Jeremiah, God told him that before you were formed, I knew you and before you came out of your mother’s womb, I sanctified you and ordained you a prophet. This supports the fact that, before you were born, a work has already been assigned to your name. To put it this way, every human embryo has a work assigned to it, to accomplish on earth so it doesn’t matter how the human embryo was formed or who carries it.
