The movie Clash of the Titans is based off of Perseus. Perseus comes off as having a warrior heroic archetype. As a warrior, he is fighting for something and continues fighting. Perseus fights to save princess Andromeda. Sometimes, Perseus doubts himself and thinks he is too weak to save Andromeda.

Where does the idea of a superhero come from? Superheroes like Spiderman, Batman, and Superman have derived from a poem that began as an oral story during the Anglo-Saxon time. These superheroes always do good things, and make good choices and fights bad guy rather than being the villain. The question is why do these superheroes do these good things? The answer is because of this poem.

Beowulf can kill monsters, demons, and demons mothers, but what about if the circumstances were swapped. What if Beowulf had to fight some of the villains that a hero like Spider Man fights? Even though Perseus from Medusa's Head and the youngest son from Dragon Dragon have many similarities, they also have many differences. In both stories each character received things from other people to help slay their beast. Perseus got wings for his feet to fly, a shield to protect himself, a sword and a knapsack.

I am comparing Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and Perseus by Ovid and Hesiod. They have many similarities - and differences including their beginnings. They both have the same hero archetypes and more. This makes them very similar stories with the same base structure which could even make Percy Jackson a modernization of Perseus. I will be explaining what is similar and what is different in order to explain why Percy is a modernization of Perseus and to explain why they may have made the large changes when modernizing the story.
