Star Wars Op-Ed May 25, 1977. Something the world has never seen before is released to the public. Star Wars has been pushing people 's minds ever since. Star Wars was a game changer in the movie industry, and it set the standard for what to expect when at the theater. Part of what makes Star Wars an epic movie even today is the vast setting it takes place in. Spaceships, shooting across the galaxy, planets, different creatures, and the type of technology being used has all never been seen before. The characters all knock it out of the park as well, with robots that can talk like C-3PO. Chewbacca comes out as a big, hairy, bigfoot looking creature, which is also new to movies. The Jedi wielding people carry something like swords but with
Lucas also uses different archetypes and mythic symbols to add variety to how we understand the characters and their journeys. The Star Wars franchise has intricate elements that appeal to all generations of movie watchers. The technology
May 25, 1977 the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, just another Sci-Fi movie that was set for failure. Little did the movie industry know , this franchise would be one of the most successful in movie history. Lets not forget the cultural appeal Star Wars would make and is continuing to do so. Star Wars has a found its place in society and is now an established staple film that everyone knows about. With its famous saying “May the force be with you” it is hard not to know where that saying is from.
In Star Wars IV New Hope you see several things that are like our world. Like how people negotiate business deals with each other. In the video, Han Soto reminds me of a used car salesman. Trying to convince you that this vehicle is a life changer with stories about how great it is. It sounds all good until he tells you the ridiculous price.
evil driving the plot. A New Hope tells everything the viewer needs to know in the first ten seconds, by showing how large the empire is and how small the rebels are (see figure 1). The plot is so simple and concise that almost no exposition is required for the movie to explain itself, because everything is already explained. The Phantom Menace starts with two Jedi talking about a trade dispute with the Trade Federation, right off the bat this is incredibly dull for a Si-Fi movie for kids. The plot then falls into a continuous loop of a minute of action and then ten minutes of exposition, resulting in a boring plot and meaningless action.
1. Science Fiction, sci-fi, is one of my favorite genres. Sometimes they are action-packed full of futuristic battles, or they are sometimes thought-provoking stories with abstract ideas. They are movies like Terminator (1984), directed by James Cameron, Star Wars (1977), directed by George Lucas, and Back to the Future (1985), directed by Robert Zemickis. A few predominant conventions in the sci-fi genre are time, establishing shots, and an advanced artifact of great power.
Gender and Race in Film from a Feminist Analysis Representation of women and people of color in the film industry remains mostly divisive issue due to the heightened attention to diversity in recent years. Based on this observation, the current paper analyzes the state of representation in this industry focusing on the film “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Star Wars: The Last Jedi “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is a film written and directed by Rian Johnson that was initially released on the 9th of December 2017. Produced by Lucasfilm, the film served as the eighth main installment of the hugely successful Star Wars franchise. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributed the film.
The opinion of cinema was forever changed as films were now looked as more than just entertainment, but
The Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise that needs no introduction. The movie series has more cult followers than most religions. Beside being the cutting edge of CGI at the time, Star Wars was (is?)
In 2015, HBO aired a six-part, true crime documentary series titled, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. Writer and director, Andrew Jarecki, examined the details of three crimes associated with Durst, including the disappearance of Durst’s first wife Kathy, the murder of his dear friend, Susan, and the murder and dismemberment of his neighbor, Morris Black. While the mini-series was met with acclaim, many – including myself – criticize The Jinx for its storytelling approach. The series seemingly blurs the lines of storytelling – for entertainment purposes – and journalism; raising many questions regarding ethics. Initially, Durst approached Jarecki regarding an interview after he saw All Good Things, a film Jarecki had released
In the movie business the director will usually do whatever it takes to try and attract to the audience, whether it be trying to appeal to a bias or just providing a cheap thrill. The movies Godzilla and Frankenstein are no different; they explore the unknown nature of technology and how it can be detrimental to us humans. By exploring these unknowns, movie makers are able to exploit how society feels about technology and push the boundaries of what 's right and wrong. From the first movies being about cowboys and romance, movies have started to explore the unknown nature of technology.
First of all, I believe that the Star Wars saga have transcended through generations due to the fact most people from age 80 to 4 know about the
George Lucas' Star Wars has been an "unprecedented commercial success in the history of cinema and has made a huge cultural impact" (Feichtinger 28). It is a popular franchise and is widely known all over the world. Star Wars plays a major role in influencing the youth and sending a message to everyone, especially the fans. George Lucas said that he wanted to do more than entertain the masses; he wanted to "introduce young Americans to spiritual teachings through 'new myths' for our globalized, pluralistic millennium" (Burke). These spiritual teachings and motifs are seen throughout the Star Wars movies and they "promote values and worldviews", which are adopted from Buddhism (Feichtinger 34).
Many mergers tend to fail and many others succeed. A merger is the combining of assets and operations, usually between two similar sized companies, in an agreement to join together. Mergers can cause bankruptcy, job losses, less choices, and even a breakup. On the other hand, they have many advantages such as, increased market share, lower cost of production, and higher competitiveness. Most mergers can be highly risky but with the presence of knowledge and intuition they can be successful.
Science fiction has become increasingly popular over the past few years as new innovative technology has made it possible for films to become more realistic. Avatar, being one of the highest ranked sci-fi films to be made, is a clear example of how the film industry is on a fast moving track towards a new era of science fiction storytelling. James Cameron’s Avatar exercised all new forms of cinematographic tools in order to bring one’s imagination to real life. The first step after writing the script was to cast actors to each specific role.
Case Question 1: Most aspects of foreign culture, like languages, religion, gender roles, and problem solving strategies, are hard for a casual observer to understand. In what ways do do Hollywood movies affect national culture outside the United States? What aspect of U.S culture do Hollywood films promote around the world ? Can you observe any positive effects of Hollywood movies on world culture?
