The Impact of Stephen King on American Culture “Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, sometimes, they win.” Stephen King is one of the most revered authors of the horror genre. He has around 130 works and has sold 350 million copies of his novels, making King very well known especially in pop culture.

He is a person who has overcome adversity and therefore has grit. Stephen King’s father left his family without warning when Stephen King was a young boy. His first novel, The Long Walk, was rejected and he took the rejection hard, but kept writing. He started writing his novel, The Dark Tower, but the expenses of writing were too much for him to pay. King submitted his novel Carrie to 30 publishers and got rejected each time.

Do you ever find yourself breaking the rules a higher authority has set just to find your identity or explore new things? For instance, in Brave New World, published in England in 1932, by Aldous Huxley, John the Savage is free from conformity and lives his own life, but still tries to fit into society or the World State. Similarly, in Fahrenheit 451, published in Los Angeles, California in 1953, by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag desperately tries to break free from society and find his true identity. Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 both express the interest in relationship between books, life and community. People are often controlled by their superiors, which results in people thinking they are better than one another, causing rebellion.

Stephen King’s On Writing and William Zinsser’s On Writing Well both focus on writing. King through his passage explains to his audience that writing is not an everyday task rather it takes serious thought and effort. Zinsser through his passage explains how to declutter your writing by avoiding and deleting unnecessary details. King and Zinsser both focus on writing and targets the same audience, aspiring writers, but both authors approach the subject differently.

Ray Douglas Bradbury was the third son born to Spaulding and Esther Bradbury on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. As a child he was a fan of magicians, and was an insatiable reader of action and fantasy―especially those written by L. Frank Baum, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice. He never lived up to his family 's reputation of high sea adventure. Instead, his adventures took place behind a typewriter, and around the age of twelve, he decided he would become an author. He later made the comment that he made that decision hoping to emulate his heroes and to "live forever" through his fictional works.

Nightmare on Elm Street Freggy Kruer Will Scare Movie Goers Once More A 1984-classic horror movie Nightmare on Elm Street will have a new remake under New Line Cinema that will definitely make you scream all your lungs out. The 2010 reboot of this movie will be scrapped and will have a fresher take on the film. According to the Tracking Board, there’s still no producer for the film but David Leslie Johnson screenwriter of Orphan and Wrath of the Titans will be the one to write the script.

When a person picks up a Horror Novel for the first time, they have no idea what is in store for them. Certainly they know the book will be quote unquote “scary”, but of course it will be scary. The sole purpose of that book is to scare the reader. Many horror books attempt but are unable to scare the reader, or if they do scare the reader, the book is not very well written. The three books that this essay is focusing on all do a brilliant job of not only terrifying the reader, but also using and exploiting many literary devices that make the book stick in the reader's memory.

Reading and Writing are Important Stephen King's "Reading to Write" (72) give details about King's methods on becoming a better writer. To become a better writer, you must read a whole heap of books. There are so many other things you can read other than books like magazines, newspapers, labels on food, and papers. As a student in college, I understand Stephen King's methods. Reading and Writing will help me further my college education, and it will help me get to my goal.

In Frankenstein, Victor the creator is too afraid to tell others what he is doing. He is even too scared to tell his bride to be. In the nightmare on Elm street the murderer is known to hid, it leaves the victims constantly wondering where he is and what he is doing. The nightmare on Elm’s street and frankenstein book are thrilling to read and to watch, regardless of the time

He held many different of jobs to pay for his studies, including janitor, gas pump attendant, and worker at an industrial laundry. Before he was a Author he was a teacher, He enjoyed teaching very much.

It is used to make the story become more real, and easier for the reader to place himself in the story, and feel the same way as the characters. Stephen King is using the terror effect throughout the whole story. He is making the feeling of dread and anticipation the main factors in the horrifying experience. He also uses the horror effect, when he is writing about The Boogeyman, but he leaves out the gross out part. Edgar Allan Poe is in the same way using both terror and horror to give the reader the most horrifying experience.

Robert Liparulo would gather his sources and put them together to write a story that would involve what he liked to write, and would have people like Stephen King to read over them after he was done writing and if it wasn't good enough he would redo it till he got it just right the way the readers of the his novels, because all he cared about when he wrote was what and how he could make it

What he expressed mainly involves three aspects of his life. American novelist, Stephen King, uses his life experience to convey his drug addictions, inspirations, and fear within his writing. Stephen King is a novelist who took his hardships from his childhood, adulthood and uses them to share his experiences through fictional stories. Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947 in Portland Maine and is still alive today.

H.P. Lovecraft wrote the short story, “The Dunwich horror,” in 1928 and had it published in april of 1929. He has written other works such as “The Call of Cthulhu,” “Dagon,” “The Shadow over Innsmouth,” “The Colour Out of Space,” and “From Beyond.” Many common themes within his work are non human influences on humanity and forbidden knowledge. In many of his stories there are unknown creatures that cause humans to go insane. Also, his short stories have curiosity of the unknown.
