Final Exam Essay The articles “'Rise of the Machines' is Not a Likely Future” by Micheal Littman and the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid” by Nicholas Carr discuss the topics of the impact of technology. The articles discuss the same topic in a unique way but sway in view points. Nicholas car makes several compeling arguments to justify his claim. A strong claim that really had some significance on me siding with Carr was when he explains how the use of technology has infulced humans mental habits in a negative way he states this “I now have almost totally lost the ability to read and absorb a longish article on the web or in print” (483). This small claim elaborates on a big part of the problem the infulecne of the technology has not not only made it difficulty to focus reading a article on a website but has mad it difficult to even skim a short passage. Carr suggest that the impact of technology has caused a snowball affect on the laziness of humans he states this to further justify his argument “ that people using the sites exhibited “a form of skimming activity,” hopping from one source to another and rarely returning to any source they’d already visited. They typically read no more than one or two pages of an article or book before they would “bounce” out to another site. Sometimes they’d save a long article, but there’s no evidence that they ever went back and actually read it”(483). I feel like throughout the article Carr uses credible sources that sway not only me but other readers to understand the gravity of the situation between them and
