Teddy Roosevelt's Impact On The United States

Theodore Roosevelt was on of the most famous presidents of his time. One reason this is, is because he wanted to build the Panama Canal. In 1904, Teddy Roosevelt had established the idea of building a Canal. He also decided that he wanted to build it in Panama. He thought, “Oh, well the French did it, so why not us!”

Theodore Roosevelt had an excellent political career, following his vice-presidency he was the president of the United States. Roosevelt was the governor of New York City, and he was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, he also participated in many other monumental acts. He was a Civil Service Commissioner, Police Commissioner of New York City, led the charge up San Juan Hill and was Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

He founded these programs because he had great pride in the environment and felt that it should be protected. During his presidency, he preserved over 230 million acres for the public to use recreationally. He was able to do this when he signed the Antiquities Act. This act stated that archaeological sites should be protected and preserved for the future. Theodore Roosevelt was such a great man that he got rewarded the Metal of Honor in 2001 for his actions in Cuba, but thats not as important as him curbed the monopolistic power of the railroads.  One of President Roosevelt’s major goals was railroad regulation. For example, in support of the creation of the Food and Drug Administration, the FDA helped to improve the safety and quality of the nation's food supply. Also, Theodore’s support of the creation of the National Park Service helped to preserve the nation's wilderness areas and natural resources. The second major pro of Roosevelt's presidency was his aggressive foreign policy.
