Depression Teen depression is much more than feeling temporarily sad or down in the dumps. It 's a serious and debilitation mood disorder that can change the way people think, feel, and function in their daily life. Teens who are depressed may feel hopeless and helpless and it can seem like no one understand and depression is far more common in teens than you may think. Many people assume depression is just a change in behavior that may die out in a few weeks or even a month; however there is much more to it than that. Often, it goes without notice because people don 't want to face the fact or don 't know what is actually going on with them. It 's not an easy task maintaining the pressure of school, friends, family and many more things and the effects from this are often confused with stress. Therefore, it is important that we pay close attention to our loved ones and talk to them to make sure they are not suffering from this horrible thing called “depression”. Many people suffer from depression and don 't actually know it and often ignore the situation. Depression may affect different people in different ways and there are many different cures for individuals who suffer. Although it seems more people are depressed in our time we also have made serious progress in understanding depression individually and as a whole. People who suffer from depression often express feelings of emptiness, sadness, worthlessness and report suicidal thoughts. Feelings of being overwhelmed are also symptoms. Jane’s sister in law Jennie said “the paper stained everything is touched” (653). Depression is very overwhelming as if you are stained with depression just as the crumbling wallpaper stains everything it touches.
As a teenager, it is typically considered a right-of-passage to misbehave, act moody, be short-tempered, or slack off in school. Unfortunately, these behaviors are often symptoms of underlying issues. Depression is a common problem among adolescents, but is infrequently recognized among parents or teachers.

It is suggested that depression among older adults can be detected early if family members, and other people within the community recognize the warning signs. People experiencing depression are often sad and sometimes are having crying spells. They often are restless and have difficulty times sleeping. They feel fatigued and irritable and often have feelings of shame or worthlessness.
Addiction to Depression Addiction is not an uncommon illness. In most cases, addiction is caused by drugs, sugar, or other substances that give the user temporary euphoria. That, however, is not always the case. For the severely depressed, their own sadness can become an addiction for them. Even if presented with a chance at happiness, they will reject it, mostly out of fear of the unfamiliar.

They tend to associate their temperament and weird behaviour with actions of other individuals.
Sometimes teenagers do not know how to deal with certain problems and end up having health problems with a huge weight on their shoulders. When everything seems to move, it seems impossible for you. It is like trying to get out of Quicksand the more you move, the faster you sink. My misery started in middle school I was known for my kindness and the way I treat people, but sometimes they misjudge the attitude and just step over it, without importance. I had two best friends.

Depression can cause severe symptoms that can affect how you feel, think, and handle your daily activities. Depression is always accompanied by sense of suffering as well as the belief that escape from it, is hopeless.
An emphasis is placed on the importance of identifying warning signs and risk factors for depression and suicide amongst teens. According to the research conducted by King and Vidourek (2012) early detection and suicidal warning signs is seen to be crucial for effective intervention. Teenagers need to be encouraged to be more proactive when it comes to their personal mental health. Positive coping mechanisms such as problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, and good conflict resolution skills are all essential in lessening the likelihood that a teen exhibiting depressive behaviors will go forth and take their own life. As most teenagers spend most of their time in school, better prevention and intervention programs need to be in place.

Teenagers sometimes had a period of depressing. They are usually stressed over something, such as some of them witnessing the pressure that was coming from all around their surroundings. The hardship of suicidal people have imagining a resolution to their sorrow is due in part to the misrepresented thinking caused by depression. The unimaginable pain the person is going to lead them to take their own life with frustration. A person with depression usually does not has the similar thinking with a healthy person.
Occasional bad moods or acting out is to be expected, but depression is something different. It is THE effect of multiple issues that have never been addressed properly by an individual to his or her elders.
