The French Revolution is an uprising in France against the monarchy from 1789 to 1799 which resulted in the establishment of France as a republic. An example of the French Revolution is the storming of the Bastille by the French citizens. It caused havoc in France for many years. The government separated the classes by money and state of living. According to Travels in France by Arthur Young, the peasants were mistreated badly.

Some challenges that this person faced were being arrested and exiled to the Bastille for a year. He was arrested because he was charged with writing libelous poetry. Voltaire was sent to the Bastille again in 1726, for arguing with the Chevalier de Rohan. He was detained in Bastille for about 2 weeks before being shipped into England. Some of the biggest accomplishments of Voltaire were that he began to study poetry,plays,historical works and philosophical works.

Should certain actions be accepted by society when they are for the greater good? Often in situations there are two defined sides. The reign of terror posed challenges to the government to remain civil and fair. While there were people that brought violence and hardship to avoid any change in the nation. The actions that took place during the reign of terror are justified due to the fact that it brought france order and stability, established fair rights, and abolished inherited human circumstances like slavery and nobility.

In 1789, the French Revolution had started. The Frenchmen of the 3rd estate revolted against the King and the unfair inequality the French Laws. After the death of King Louis XVI, France fell into chaos. There have been attempts to restore order into France, however all failed. This time was called the Reign of Terror.

Our modern society has been sculpted by many revolts throughout history. Many governments and ideas have risen to power do to these revolutions. The French revolution began on July 14, 1789 due to the neglect of the people by the french government along with the mistreatment of the lower class. A important phase in the revolution was the Reign of Terror, A period where the government had been taken over by a revolutionary government called the National Convention. This new government rule france with force, executing all who opposed them and outlawing all counter revolutionary ideas and practices.
