By using compare and Contrast he justifies how distractions can affect you and how it takes away your primary focus. For instance, in paragraph 11 Bob Sullivan states that “the distractions of an interruption, collaborates with the brain drain of preparing for that interruption made of test takers 20 percent dumber, turning a B- student into a failing 62 percent”. So, Bob Sullivan is using his compare and contrast text structure to generally explain the statistical analysis on the distractions of technology by comparing how the brain can be affected with distractions and also without. Without Doubt technology can bring negative distractions towards your brain, which is contrasted by keeping the use of technology away when completing a task, which increases the brain
Activity theory, as interpreted by Ph.D. candidates, Wardle and Kain, is a process that attempts to see all aspects of activity such as social interactions and use of writing and language to achieve goals. This theory is award winning. Activity theory states that for a system to be effective, the rules, community, subject, division of labor, and motives must be reasonable. These components are shown through the chosen tool of communication most often. When one area of the system is corrupted, the tool will no longer function correctly in order to communicate or achieve its goals.
Wiesel's use of his young self is in fact there to provoke emotion out of the audience and build his credibility. Yet, it is also there to represent the suffering children of today. The young boy is mentioned because it creates a sense of innocence. When Wiesel was young, he saw those American soldiers as his heroes, men who understood his anger and pain and showed compassion for him. Young Wiesel didn't know any better that those American soldiers had the opportunity to help him earlier but did not.

“The Cry of the Restrained” “The world did know and remained silent…I swore never to be silent whenever wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation.” (Wiesel, Elie; “Hope, Despair and Memory”) This quote states, I shall not be silent and will rise up in any crisis to aid those in need; not aiding the oppressor(s). This speech demonstrates Wiesel’s point of view about human suffering and ideas to prevent or lessen the situation. And Wiesel achieves this via the use of third and first person and terminology.
We are living in a world where the erasure and dehumanization of people of color is slowly becoming a normative. Voices silenced, struggles trivialized, deaths becoming statistics, brutality only brought up for shock factor, achievements hidden and it is all slowly becoming accepted. Through various rhetorical strategies Claudia Rankine illustrates the experience of being part of the marginalized identity in the United States and depicts how subtly and multifaceted the methods of oppression take place in the daily life are and the negative repercussions it holds on the individual. The ambiguity of her writing with the lack of punctuation and clarification of what is thought and what is aloud allows the readers to input their own interpretation of these various scenarios.
Desperation and hysteria makes people susceptible to believe anything, which provides an opportunity for anyone to gain power. In “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller, a group of young girls gain a significant amount of power in the court that is run by the majority of male Puritans in hysteric Salem. These girls, mostly Abigail Williams, portray themselves as victims of witchcraft to get the court officials to believe their stories. What they say gives them control over what happens in the court. Individual people can establish and maintain power over the majority through what they say and how they say it.

Vaclav Havel wrote his essay “The power of the powerless” as a description and critique of the totalitarian communist government and its system. He states that Communism is different to the other types of dictatorship as it is alike a “secularized religion” rather than the usual dictatorship, which do not have any social of historical background and come to power just by the military power. He also described how the individuals are responsible for getting under the autocratic regime due to their agreement to live in a society of consumers, where the supplier is the government, expecting everyone to go with the strict order of life. In case those individuals decide to participate in that and “live within a lie”, they are bounded with the communism.
Having read Aristotle’s article, I believe my emotional expression would be different if I thrived on moderation. Aristotle describes moderation as an intermediate communication which can be neither too much nor too little. He also describes it as not being realistic or desirable. I understand that when communicating, we should not try to present ourselves like everyone else.
“Honey, you are changing that boy’s life.” A friend of Leigh Anne’s exclaimed. Leigh Anne grinned and said, “No, he’s changing mine.” This exchange of words comes from the film trailer of an award-winning film, The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock, released on November 20th, 2009. In this passage on “The Black Veil”Nathanial,Howthrone style of text was more effective than the “Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God. By Jonathan Edwards because Mr.Hooper seemed to always be getting judge because of the “piece of crape he was wearing around, and in the church” house. Mr Hooper had a style of text as of a preacher that was not so mean to others but he was not a well outspoken preacher. On the other hand I disagree with the “Sinners In The Hand Of An Angry God because when he talks towards others he is really serious about the words that he is saying and it is very frightning to others. Joaanthan edwards had stated in the text “
Past leaders such as Andrew Jackson, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Marc Antony are evidence that society does not reward morality and good character in leadership. Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability. In history there have been multiple leaders that have used rhetoric, propaganda and charismatic personalities to gain power, despite their morals.
