On the night of July 20th, 2012, the Colorado Theater shooting took place. It is remembered as the most horrific mass shooting in United States history. The tragedy occurred at the Century 16 in the Aurora Town Center Mall. The shooter is James Holmes a former student of UCD. He carried a rifle, a shotgun, and two pistols, while entering from emergency exit wearing a gas mask and a bulletproof vest. He was on a mission to kill as many people as possible. The scene will be in the minds of survivors forever followed by shock, misery, fear anger and grief for the victims. As a result, 12 people dead and over 50 injured. He did not care if they were children, pregnant women, young or old. The last witness to testify in his case was Ashley Moser. According to the article” James Holmes guilty of murder in Colorado theater massacre; jury to weigh death penalty’ written by Maria La Ganga ‘Moser had just had her first ultrasound; she and her 6-year-old daughter, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, went to the movie to celebrate the new baby”, and now she is paralyzed and in wheelchair. Her little girl is dead and She lost the child she was carrying. This is a case, which should not be forgiven or forgotten. How a human being can do such a thing to an innocent child? Veronica cannot be returned to her mother, she is dead. It is not a secret that there is no worst pain to a mother then loosing her child. In the massacre Ashley had lost two of them. But, the story is coming to an end soon. In the article “James Holmes found guilty of murder in Colorado Theater shooting” the journalist wrote “The jury also found Holmes guilty of attempted murder on all of the 140 counts against him for the 70 people wounded in the shooting. Additionally, he was found guilty of one count of possession or control of an explosive or incendiary device”. Life in prison without parole is a punishment while death penalty is only an execution. Death penalty may be too barbaric and too expensive. Hence, life in prison, with out parole in the cell where he will spend most of his days alone. And, thus this is a most acceptable punishment for Holmes. Because all of us will know how long his suffering will be
The investigation’s goal was to expose Neil Goldschmidt for his sexual affairs with a 14 year old girl. The author also helped people know how greatly these events impacted the girl. She was a smart girl with a strong ambition prior to the raping, but afterwards she dropped out of school, had many neurological diseases such as depression and post traumatic stress disorder, and was arrested numerous times due to possession of drugs (Jaquiss). Her life was completely ruined, yet she still looked up to Goldschmidt. ““I want to personally make sure you get shit for this,” she told Portland officer Clarence Lankis, according to his report.
The article states that the first time the police were called it was because Jacob Henderson believed his wife was suicidal and then later after she shot her daughters she was trying to strangle herself and pry the gun away from her husband. Clearly there is something uncontrollably abnormal within her brain to make her go through with her plan to kill her children and attempt to kill her husband and herself. In my opinion, a major factor of this crime in regard to Sarah’s psychological problems is that her crime was premeditated rather than in the heat of passion. It is hard for me to believe that a mother who has no cognitive dysfunction would be able to plan to kill her children for two weeks before actually committing the crime and then show no remorse about it in
Not calling 911 and hiding the body was morally and criminally wrong. The lack of remorse bothered me as an utter disregard for her dead daughter and selfishness unparalleled. I believe that the prosecution’s putting the death
The demonstration of the narrator's imagination unconsciously leads his own thoughts to grow into a chaotic mess that ultimately ends in a death. By murdering, it’s his own way of finding peace. He is portrayed as being a sadist, sick man with an unnatural obsession for
It was very uncalled for and they shouldn’t have done it. I’m going to tell you some things about the murder. " And there remains the mother, bound and gagged and having to listen as her husband, her beloved children died one by one. "(194), "Next thing, I brought the boy down. First I put him in the room with his dad.

Mary Maloney is a very loving and devoted house wife and mother-to-be. Though her dream of having the perfect American family was destroyed by the bewildering news of Patrick choosing another women over Mary and their child. Innocent is all Mary Maloney is, due to her indistinct state of mind caused by her heinous husband’s decision to desert her and her child while she is unable to control her emotions due to her being pregnant. Mary is not guilty of murder instead innocent due to diminished capacity.
In my opinion, I think Sherlock Holmes positively made the right decision. In the first place, if Mr. Holmes would have decided to arrest and lock them up, they would have been classified as criminals for their whole lives. They’d be called in several times for the crimes they didn’t commit. Over and over, that would get pretty annoying.
The author handles suspense well, making the reader anticipate what will happen next. She spends a couple of chapters writing about the dilemma at the courthouse involving the colored men from The Bottom and The White League gradually leads up to the horrific Colfax massacre. The massacre is described in great detail. The reader is transported into the civil war era and can practically hear the gunshots being fired, can see the men being killed in cold blood leaving their lifeless bodies on the ground in the aftermath. When Israel Smith cheats death again after being brutally beaten and shot in the eye the reader doesn 't know if he will live or die.
I agree with the decision of him being sentenced for life. He killed two innocent people and was making an attempt on a third person. I think a rightful punishment is life in
A child would not be put to death if there were any proofs showing that parents were so careless
When talking about Holmes, his name will always be engraved in the three name Hall of Infamy. When talking about the Hall of Infamy, Holmes’s name will always be said but his full name, so everyone from today, to hundred years later will remember him, but yet, he did not die. Such names such as John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald, but not like Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold the Columbine High School massacre students. Most killers, who try to complete a killing spree, tend to commit suicide or get killed at the end such as Adam Lanza did. Not
On April 20, 1999, two disturbed teenage boys Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris began a killing rampage at Columbine High School in the suburban town of Littleton, Colorado. This was considered one of the worst school shootings to occur at that time. In the morning of April 20, before noon, the two juveniles had killed 13 people to include 12 students and 1 teacher; they also wounded another 23 people before turning the guns on themselves. This event would change the theories as to why school shootings would occur. (History)
Former Harris County District Attorney Johnny Holmes sought the death penalty as often as possible. It is record that after he left the office the number of death sentences as reduced drastically. The reasoning makes sense because of course the elected officials are here to serve the public, however they should not allow their egos and personal career stand in the way of giving out proper sentences to those that are
You'd think that (Y/N) Holmes- the great actress- wouldn't ever indulge in taking revenge, hitting back or preparing to murder just to protect her children. Whoever was threatening her family and friends was going to pay the prise. And the prise... is
