A group of girls were dancing in the woods with a black slave named Tituba. When the girls got caught dancing in the woods, they started blaming other people in the village of being involved with witchcraft. Soon enough, the whole village believed the devil exists and lives within the fear of each person. Children were considered unimportant in the old days. They weren 't allowed to talk until given permission to, and they didn 't make important decisions. However, during the witch court trials Abigail and other girls were able to say who was innocent or who was guilty. Probably for the first time, they had power over Salem and they wanted to maintain it. The authorities of the town Salem were worried about losing authority and power. For example Governor Danforth and Ezekiel Cheever, the judges, didn 't want to believe that they were being fooled by a bunch of girls so they went along with witchcraft existing in the town of Salem. Salem Witch Trials Twenty-five people were killed in the Salem Witch Trials including the nineteen who were hanged, one which was stoned and then those who died in prison awaiting trial. Even though these people weren’t witches, the villagers killed them on the accusations of some teens and a few adults. People just needed a scapegoat to explain away the negative impacts that were occurring in Salem Village in 1692. The victims of Salems prejudice were people as well.

The Bible talks about condemning witchcraft, so when a group of kids in the town of Salem, Massachusetts, is caught dancing in the forest with the devil, the community starts to panic. The Crucible Reverend Hale So to start off i would like to explain the concept of the play the Crucible. It starts of in colonial Salem, It is a play about the salem witch trials. The two main characters are Abigail, and John Proctor, One thing you should know is that John is married yet had an affair with Abigail who was only about 12-13 at the time. The witch trials start when a bunch of the village girls are caught in the woods dancing around a fire with a cauldron in it. Abigail’s little sister faints when they are caught by Abigail's father Reverend Parris.
