“Life is a drama full of tragedy and comedy. You should learn to enjoy the comic episodes a little more.” The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls has very important life lessons that will teach you to laugh at your tragedies sometimes. The most important lessons are that struggle makes you unique, you either sink or swim, and sometimes crisis makes you realize your potential. In the memoir, you will learn these and accept them. There will be a lot of struggles thrown your way, but you will find a way to get through it and realize it makes you who you are.
First of all, struggle makes you unique. In the book, Jeannette sees a Joshua tree and decides to move it. “Mom frowned at me. ‘You’d be destroying what makes it special’ she said, ‘It’s the Joshua tree’s struggle that gives it its beauty’.” (Walls,38) It might not seems like much, but this is saying you might have so many life challenges coming your way, but it makes you who you are. Last year I realized I lost and had no friends, I started to get depressed and did not want to do anything anymore. I learned that this was a crisis and my adrenaline started pumping. It took me awhile to figure out I do not need anybody that does not need me. I learned that once something bad happens, you realize you are not alone in this world. Everything happens for a reason, good or bad. You have to learn from those moments just like Jeannette and I did. Jeannette and I might not have the same exact life, but we have one thing in common. We learn and live for the moments. We both have a mother and father that want us to be someone better than ourselves. We both will show our parents, we are who we are and if they do not accept that, then they should not come to us when we are good and making money. To sum up, as soon as we all get older and wiser we will realize how much we are worthy and that we will never be
