The Impact Of Thomas Jefferson On The Presidency Of Linocln And Washington

Thomas Jefferson, the American President wanted to explore and discover the hidden treasures in the large Western parts of America that were inhabited by the local Indian tribes for centuries. Jefferson then hired his personal secretary, Meriwether Lewis to undertake the expedition, find new routes and discover the eco system in the region. He also wanted them to build better ties with the local tribes that would help foster trade. The expedition of Lewis and Clark faced many challenges, interacted with many new Native peoples and was an important milestone in American history. Lewis and Clark had many, many challenges.

In Undaunted Courage, Stephen Ambrose explains that Jefferson was important to the expansion west. “He sought greatness for himself and for his nation,” this enunciates that Jefferson would do anything thing to help his nation. In “Reporting to the President, September 23-December 31,1806,” Stephen Ambrose says “On that point, Lewis had carried out Jefferson’s orders exactly,” this shows that Jefferson pick the right person for the job to explore the west. Jefferson was important to the exploration west because he made sure everything he could do to ameliorate his country was achieved.

Throughout the course of American history, many powerful presidents have risen up. These people have completely changed the American lifestyle, mindset, and idea as to what a powerful leader should be. Three of these presidents are Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Of these three, Abraham Lincoln is the strongest because of his eagerness to create massive change within the country and his steadfast adherence to what is right and good for the people. Abraham Lincoln led the country through his powerful motivation and dedication to what is right.

My hero is Thomas Jefferson, he doesn't have a middle name. It says in the book “Thomas Jefferson Architect of Democracy” he was born on April 13, 1743. One of his quotes is “In matters of style, swim with the current;in matters principle, stand like a rock.” Another one is “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Yet before Thomas Jefferson became a hero he was a regular child.

Growing since time could tell, the United States of America. Between 1776 and 1870 the United States of America experiences numerous principal changes relating to three main ideas. America is a stronger place today because of these changes. Crucial historical moments for America fall between these two time periods. I will discuss, compare, and contrast three ideas pertaining to America before 1776 and after 1870, plus explain why America has improved since these changes.

Being an African American and part of an African American women discussion group I've been in the mist of many conversations where the following question has been asked: why do people uphold Thomas Jefferson so highly? when he did nothing to free the slaves. Unlike George Washington Thomas Jefferson,didn’t even have a dying declaration to free the over one hundred slaves he owned. It was rumored for centuries that Thomas Jefferson had six children five in which lived to adulthood with a woman he enslaved Sally Hemings. He freed Sally Hemings 5 living children from slavery, after Sally discovered slavery had been done away with in France.

Depending on where one falls on the political spectrum, Jefferson could either be at the top of all presidential polls, or he could be near the bottom. If a Jeffersonian was asked about Jefferson, he would sing his praises from the rooftops. Jefferson was the hero of the common man in that he ardently supported states' rights and an agrarian society. He also lowered the national debt by over twenty-five percent, doubled the size of the country with the Louisiana Purchase, and kept the nation out of a costly war with the old world. In the Jeffersonian's mind, there wasn't, and never would be, a greater president than Jefferson.

In this office, he advocated or publicly recommend or support, for each state to pay its own portion of the Revolutionary War debt and supported France in its war with Britain, though he believed the United States should maintain neutral in the conflict. In 1803 as President of the United States, Jefferson purchased more than 800,000 square miles of Louisiana Territory from France for about $15 million, effectively doubling the size of the United States this was an important contribution of Thomas Jefferson. Having just greatly increased the size of the United States, Jefferson wanted to explore both the new part of the country and the rest of the continent. He appointed as his secretary Meriwether Lewis, who then enlisted William Clark. They left on their journey in 1804 with the goals of learning more about the landscape and the Native American tribes, and to finding a water passage between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean.

When Americans hear the name, Thomas Jefferson, most refer to Jefferson as the third President of the United States. As true as that is, Jefferson meant much more to U.S. than just being the third President. He was an inventor, a leader, the author of the Declaration of Independence, an important part of the Louisiana Purchase, and much more. All of Jefferson’s actions were successful enough to help make America what is is today. Jefferson knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up.

President Thomas Jefferson commissioned the Corps of Discovery to have the Lewis and Clark expedition find a waterway that could connect the United States for transportation because he had aspirations to expand to the Pacific and Northwest making the expedition important to his agenda for the United States. (The Corp of Discovery, 2016). Another reason for the important expedition was to create a relationship with the American Indians, and the American fur trade, while learning the North American topography and geography of the land which was also important to the exploration (Corps of Discover, 2016). Thomas Jefferson was important to the Lewis and Clark expedition because he organized the journey, sought funding and made Lewis and Clark head

Thomas Jefferson’s Presidency Grade When Thomas Jefferson won the election and became president, the main party of the government changed to Democratic-Republican. During his presidency, he did a lot of things that were great, but some were very questionable. Thomas Jefferson’s grade for his presidency should be a B+.

The greatest president that has ever served the United States is George Washington. He was not only the first president of the United States but also the commander in chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was victorious over the British and quickly became a hero doing so. He helped draft the constitution and with his leadership and courage. As first president, he become a role model for every other present succeeding him and helped create our countries values that we cherish so much today.

Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington all had qualities/accomplishments that made them very strong, successful presidents. Abraham Lincoln was the strongest president of the three. He accomplished the most during his time in office. President Abraham Lincoln was the person to end slavery. He had been firmly against slavery and finally ended it with the Emancipation Proclimation.

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were both presidents that had a huge impact on the structure of our beautiful country. As they built and thought of knew theories and ideas the country expanded to what is now called the United States of America. With very different times and struggles though both presidencies it was always clear that as leaders of the United States they were going to finish anything they started or fought for to keep the country intact. Even though both these presidents were considered successful they were both motivated and raised in totally different ways. Washington was raised in a wealthy lifestyle as he grew up.

Over hundreds of years America has had many presidents, some able to complete the tasks at hand, but many were not worthy of leading this nation. President Abraham Lincoln was one of the few who led the United States of America with great strength and courage. Abraham Lincoln was the best U.S. president because he had a great impact on ending slavery and he was one of the greatest natural strategists and leaders of all time. Abraham Lincoln is considered to be America 's wisest president. Abraham Lincoln, "proved to be a shrewd military strategist and a savvy leader during what became the costliest conflict ever fought on American soil."
