The event I am referring to happened last year in the football playoffs and is still causing controversy today. This event happened in the playoff game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, where the Patriots won with a score of 45 to 7. According to many people, controversy arose the night after the game over the footballs the Patriots used. Many people believe the footballs were slightly deflated during the first quarter of the game.

Walter changed the rules of rugby and soccer so they would be fit for football (Miller 4). Walter wanted to have 11 players from each team on the field at one time instead of 15 players (Madden 7). It takes a lot of work to have the smarts and throw a football knowing you could be knocked out by a 300-pound grown man coming full speed at you. Richard Sherman grew up on the streets of Compton, California riddled with crime, drugs and gangs. Bo Jackson was one of the greatest and mysterious athletes in all of sports. He was a multiple sport athlete playing professional baseball and football. Bo exceeded highly in both sports impressing millions of people all over the world. Bo Jackson shocked people starting at a young age by doing impossible things like dunking when he was in eighth grade and being able to do a backflip in knee high water. Due to his capability of deeds of great strength and courage, Bo being a great warrior and his humility Bo Jackson is an epic hero come to life.

I chose the book Next Man Up by John Feinstein, because it is a book about football. This book is a journey into the secret world of the NFL. The author, John Feinstein, spins a year chronically the Baltimore Ravens football team. Usually, NFL teams do not let anyone into their secret world. They seem to be paranoid that there plays, play calling, and strategies will be stolen.

Ray Lewis was leaving a Super Bowl party in 2000 when 2 men were stabbed to death. The murder charges against Ray were dropped. As a boy and the eventual older brother to four younger siblings ,Ray quickly became the man of the house. After his father left he helped his sisters with their hair, and made sure his younger brother arrived at daycare on time. Walter Payton lived by this quote his whole life not just on the football field playing for the Jackson State Tigers collegitaly or for the Chicago Bears professionally. He lived by that quote at a young age especially when his father died. Or when he was diagnosed with PSC a rare liver disease. He showed us how to live life before it's gone.

Although Butkus retired rather early, he is still very involved in the National Football League and the game he has loved so dearly. Although he left the game quickly, he has left an everlasting effect on the game of professional football.
