The book that I choose is Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian. It is the fifth and final novel of the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. The Last Olympian is a fantasy-adventure novel which was based on Greek mythology and is a direct sequel from The Battle of The Labyrinth. This book revolves around the demigod Percy Jackson as he leads his friends, Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood, Thalia Grace and Nico di Angelo in a last stand to protect Mount Olympus. The Last Olympian is a title refers to Hestia, the virgin goddess of the hearth. The reason I select this book is because I really love Rick’s writing works and I choose the best one out of all the five books although it is really quite hard to do so.
PLOT
This novel starts with Percy Jackson (the main character) who is on a drive with Rachel Dare (his new friend at his new school which is a peculiar mortal girl who can see through the Mist, the force that obscures gods and monsters from most mortal- in short,

His real name is Perseus Jackson the son of Poseidon and Sally Jackson. He is a demigod and suffered from ADHD and dyslexia, because he is hardwired to read Ancient Greek and has inborn battlefield reflexes. He was born on August 18 in America. I personally think that he is interesting because since he is a son of the “Big Three”, he is more powerful than most of the gods’ other children. He also has a degree of authority over his father’s subjects. Percy is also gifted with several semi-divine abilities such as the ability to manipulate water and currents, enhanced strength and senses while being near water, ability to breath underwater, mental communication with marine animals and horses(since horses were created by Poseidon) and creates small earthquakes and hurricanes. Although he seems like a character that can do almost everything, he still acts dumb sometimes and that has earned him a nickname-seaweed
Percy jackson and the olympians lightning thief is the modern version of the Danus,Perseus and the gorgons using theme concepts, hero types and archetypes, hero's journey and plot structure. Having good vs evil and the prodigy. First, percy needed to find pearls to help get him self to the underworld to save his mom,He had to find all 3 pearls to get back or it would be hard getting back, In perseus he would do anything to help his mom. Percy was searching for the pears he ran into enemies like medusa,Perseus had to go find her because he didn't have a present to give her.
Percy is also brave, smart, and courageous, but he is also strong and caring. Percy’s main objective in the story is to get out of the underworld and stop a Roman vs Greek battle. Some devices used by the author in this story are alliterations, similes, and personifications. Some similarities in these two books are that both main characters need to solve a problem, both need help from
Quests educate the protagonist Connection: In Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson goes on a quest in search of Zeus’s lightning bolt that was stolen. Throughout the book, Percy faces the challenges of his mom being kidnapped by Hades, fighting off Medusa, defeating Chimera, and fighting the Greek god Ares to restore order. Percy Jackson, The main character in the Lightning Thief is following the path of a hero in “The hero's Journey. Percy does not believe he is ordinary which scares him because he thinks other people don't either but he fights through it. He now goes to half blood camp with other non ordinary people he wants to be normal but he was born with a god being his father so he got half of his father's power and he is a son of one of the most powerful gods. That god is poseidon the god of water it self.
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief is about the offspring of poseidon and a mortal, going on a quest with his friends to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt. The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.
Poseidon is the father of Percy Jackson, the main character of Rick Riordan’s first series. Percy is a demigod, which means one of his parents is human and the other is a God. Because he is Poseidon’s son, Percy can heal himself and give himself strength by just being with water. Poseidon’s name in Roman Mythology is Neptune. Unsurprisingly, the seventh plant in our solar system
From the moment I started reading books, the novels written by Rick Riordan immediately caught my eye. I immensely enjoyed seeing how the characters fared in the situations presented by the author. To me, the main character Percy Jackson and his friend Leo Valdez fared best out of all the situations presented. As the main character of the saga, Percy Jackson always put his friends above him.
"The Sea of Monsters" by Rick Riordan is the second book in the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" arrangement. In this book, Percy Jackson goes up against a mission to spare his dearest Camp Half Blood. Percy Jackson is seen nearing the finish of his seventh grade year and even though amped up for being finished with the school, and going to Camp Half Blood for the late spring, Percy is worried about a nightmare dream he has had in regards to his companion Grover. Percy doesn't know what the fantasy has implied but rather at last chooses he needs to concentrate on school. At the point when Percy touches base at school he and his companion, Tyson, are tormented by a gathering of new young men that have arrived.
Percy is a selfless individual and leader making him the light in the darkness. Acceptance, and putting others feelings before his own lies in his leadership. For instance, when the bull attacked Camp Halfblood Percy went into the fight wanting to help save the camp emphasis of the word help. Percy wasn’t fighting to make a proclamation for himself but to work together to defeat the threat. Admission and approval was what Percy was in search of.
Perseus Vs. Percy Jackson Essay (Final Draft) “No man who had ever set out to kill Medusa had come back, and the king was sure that now he was forever rid of Perseus.” Throughout the movie of “Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief” and throughout the original mythology of “Perseus”, there are obviously huge differences between the two stories-- but there are also huge similarities as well. “Percy Jackson” draws on the legend of “Perseus” by having quite a similar story/a similar concept, while the story of “Percy Jackson” also transforms the original story by making the film more modern -- by adding more different quests, and by changing some of the characters/adding more new characters. Throughout the two stories, you can see very similar ideas -- such as hero archetypes, hero themes, and plot
However, he is blessed to have these conditions. His ADHD and ADD help him stay hyperactive in wherever he is. This book was based on Greek Mythology, and there were many wars at that time. Percy is falsely accused for stealing a lightning bolt, and wants to prove that he didn't. Percy Jackson is persevere in many ways.
Percy has learned his role throughout the story as he journeys to bring back what was taken from his uncle (Zeus) to keep peace in the world. Some challenges was getting to know that he was son of Poseidon, being attacked by the three furies, and being betrayed by the ones he called a true friend to a King Titan
Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld.
Harry always puts his friends first, and in this book one of the people who are put in danger is his close friend Hermione, and in the end his best friend’s sister is abducted. The book’s theme can be compared to many other books, for example The Hunger Games. Katniss, the main character in that book, volunteers to be a part of a dangerous game so that she can protect her little sister. But the book is also about character development and being a good person.
