The United States just elected a new president recently. This is a major event, because this is a country that values the citizens right to vote above many other rights and privileges. The months and weeks leading up to the election were very divisive and showed how humans have a long way to go before reaching a peaceful resolution of
The succession follows the order of Vice President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, President pro tempore of the Senate, and then the heads of federal executive departments who form the Cabinet of the United States. The Cabinet currently has fifteen members, beginning with the Secretary of State, and followed by the rest in the order of their positions' creation. Those heads of department who are ineligible to act as President are also ineligible to succeed the President by succession, for example most commonly if they are not a natural-born U.S. citizen. In 1792, Congress passed the first presidential succession act. This act was fraught with political wrangling between the Federalists and Antifederalists, as much early U.S. policy
Prologue The book Ten Days That Unexpectedly Changed America, contains specific days and events that have not been actually considered a “big deal”, but has significantly contributed to the present situation in America. It explores themes such as; National Identity, American Democracy, American Creed, and Democratic Revolution. It also sheds light on the ideology of being born equal, or being made equal. It places emphasizes on the fact that history is often a result of a great impersonal forces and that change can be extremely slow.
Did you know that the U.S has the oldest constitution in the world? A constitution is a framework for a government and our government has many different parties of government. Some of them include the Republican and the Democrats. However, James Madison, who is the “father of the government,” stated that our government is a “Republican-Democratic” government. Why do we need a republican-democratic government?
The election I choose to write about was the election of 1800. The two main opponents were John Adams of the Federalist party, and Thomas Jefferson of the Democratic-Republican party (The Election of 1800). John Adams was running for re-election, and his vice president, Thomas Jefferson decided to run against him. The Federalist party had played a major role in our brief history as a country, as they helped ratify the Constitution (The Ratification Debate). The Federalists were pushing for more federal power, but the Democratic-Republican party was pushing for more power from the state government, which helped them gain a lot of support.
I believe that all members of the Texas legislature should be term-limited. I think that since the President of the United States has term-limited. It would only be fair that all branches within the government to practice term-limited as well. So far, there has only been fifteen states that practice term-limited (Maine, California, Colorado, Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, South Dakota, Montana, Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Louisiana, and Nevada). Term limits can be divided into two categories: consecutive and lifetime.
Congressional candidates needed to raise millions of dollars in order to guarantee their victories in the elections. Yet, the difficulty of this task, the absence of access to wealthy and political links, and limited information about congressional races were the catalysts behind the defeats of promising young leaders who sought to clinch such positions. However, one group has been established in order to combat these deficiencies and provide aspiring public servants to win their respective congressional races. Established by Brian Bordainick and Will Levitt, Square One Politics is set to provide aid towards candidates under the age of 40 who are running for the first time.
The 45th Presidential Election Throughout the past few months, the 45th presidential election has been in full swing as the news, social media, and various people of all ages and beliefs are speaking out about who they believe the next president, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, should be. Governor Mike Pence of Indiana, who is 57 years old and grew up on a cornfield in Southern Indiana, has recently accepted to be Donald Trump’s running mate. While speaking to the country at the Republican National Convention, Pence provides comparisons and statistics about Trump and himself, in order to persuade his audience to vote for the Republican candidate. In his Vice President Acceptance Address, Governor Mike Pence uses metaphors and ethos to verify
Throughout this time, our views on the Electoral College have went in all kinds of ways. The big reason for the Electoral College, was so that the whole country had a more equal say on choosing the national president. In each state the electors gather on the Monday following the second Tuesday of December. Each state has electoral votes according to the number of House members and Senators it has in Congress.
Politics in the United States have always been strange—the opposite but peaceful opinions can seem odd, especially during the time of the country’s founding. Back then, when there were radically different opinions, there was often bloodshed during the switching of power. However, in the US election of 1800, this was not the case. Thomas Jefferson, the Republican candidate who won the election, was the first president to experience this shift in power. Jefferson promised many things at the beginning or his presidency, but he didn’t necessarily follow through.
Term limits are the limits on a term an elected official can serve. Some officials, like the president, have two terms but some, like senators, don 't have any term limits. A pro of having term limits is allowing new people to be in congress. New people bring new ideas and it prevents old officials from making a career out of what they are doing. Being in congress is not suppose to be a career; its suppose to be more like a temporary job.
The Electoral College has been a confusing subject and is now rising up some serious questions. Does your vote really count? What is a faithless elector? How are they chosen? What is a direct democracy?
Throughout the years there have been many presidents that have been unfit to be president because they always said one thing that got them into office, then when they got into office they did and entirely different thing. The elections have always been for the people to vote who is the best fit for office now the 2016 election is just a joke to some people both candidates have their flaws like hillary clinton has emails that she deleted and donald trump was caught in his own lies on live t.v. The only sane person who was in the election was bernie sanders when he dropped out the election just became a joke. The election now is between two candidates who have it out for each other, going against your opponent is understandable the way they're
There is no better time that now to start realizing that we as citizens of this country start going back to the original intent of the constitution. Of course I do not mean bring back slavery and bigotry, unlike what the liberals, democrats and progressives, but instead of misrepresenting the truths and the lies. The true meaning of what I mean is what the founding fathers and those of whom fought for what is the absolute truths to be self-evidence that they had written in the constitution. When “We the people of the United States” really does include all races and all credence of what is the absolute truth and what is the absolute lie. Just over two centuries ago they drafted three well written documents that supposed to help the
The united states is described as a federal democratic republic because we aren't ruled by any kings or queens like countries such as the united kingdom, Netherlands or morocco etc. a president is elected to run the country by the people. A federal government is a type of government made that includes states or provinces and the central government has some power to individual areas. Other countries that are a federal republic are Mexico, Germany, Argentina, Ethiopia and Switzerland . A federal democratic republic gives states the opportunity to make some decisions and control over their activities.
When there is a new president we have to vote and there is a lot of that can do it. Then people from the states that can do vote and people he can 't they do not vote. Then the people who are running for it they been trying to convince people to vote for them on Super Tuesday. That is where they vote for them and try to win before November comes around. Ther is so not 2 democrats left to for running for president and there is 5 republican left to run for president.
