Why do we tend to root for the one that doesn’t stand a chance in a fight? Why is it that they become victorious when battling a giant foe? Do we all have a Goliath somewhere and we are like David waiting to defeat it? The underdog in a story is always the one that does not stand a chance and overcomes the impossible. Is it because human beings are inherently flawed; therefore, they tend to root for the imperfect underdog in movies or in stories. The story of the Dark Knight Rises goes through many fights between Batman and Bane. Through 3 of the fights, Bane is victorious and he has broken Batman’s spine. In the last fight, Batman wins by using more of his brain than brawns to overcome this powerful person. The question to ask is why when Batman doesn’t even stand a chance and we all know Bane has the upper hand do we still root for Batman to win? Is it because people can relate more to Batman in their life and does he represent justice and accomplishments. Many people can relate to it and see it has a guy being bullied by another guy. A person that uses his brains and he is being pushed around by a bigger guy that uses his muscles more than brains. Pathos is used throughout the story to appeal to more emotional problems and relate to people in another way. Batman is rooted for because somewhere deep down we feel badly to what he is going through and want justice for all the wrong actions done against …show more content…

Goliath then fell down on his back and died from the smooth stone. The underdog is victorious and the giant

As a child batman had it rough and the joker had it as rough as him. Both Batman and the Joker and lost their parents and they both play dress up and has traumatic events in their lives. The only difference between Batman and Joker is bad and good. Batman has more vanity over the joker which is completely insane. Batman is a dark and mysterious person but he knows the fine line between right and wrong
Coming from the opinion of a conservative, John Glenn is pro Grit. After reading Angela Duckorth’s book and ideas, Glenn was very interested in what she has to say. With the idea of passion and perseverance over a long period of time, he believes it is more important then talent. After reading Angela Duckworth’s idea of grit, Glenn then tried to understand grit, not for what it is, but what it is not. Glenn’s understanding of it is, “It’s not shallow practice, it’s not mindlessly sprinting up and down the hardwood, nor is it obsessing over impractical goals.”
Keanu Reeves can be compared to Batman because they both help others because they have experienced the same events. Batman fights crime for Gotham because his parents were killed by a criminal. While Keanu donates his money to cancer research because his sister has battled leukemia for over ten years. Bruce Wayne uses Batman to hide who he is and that he is actually the one who is saving Gotham. Similarly, Keanu never attaches his name to any donations he makes to the organizations to keep from being the attention seeker.

Things like religion and science are great examples of this. A villain is someone we do not understand. Therefor a hero would be naturally draw to
Robert Downey, Junior once said “ I think that we all do heroic things, but hero is not a noun , it’s a verb.” The word hero is based on only a person’s definition. A hero’s definition depends on how the world sees fit. Heros do everything in their power and fight for something they believe in and fight for something worthwhile, persevere, and do not rely on physical strength, but mental strength. Heroes fight for something they believe in.
It takes great courage for this to happen. Batman and Superman both want to be able to defeat evil for a greater purpose. Superhero comics also contain super villains. These villains try to come and take over the world. Some come to kill and destroy anything or anyone
Batman has a higher level intellect which makes him out think his enemies. He does not trust others

The hero of the movie is Batman while the villain is the Joker ( Chris Nolan, The Dark Knight). What is significant is how the characters have different moral views on killing. The Joker is depicted as insane, ruthless and has the desire to bring chaos to the city of Gotham (Batman Wikia The Joker). What makes the Joker important is that he acts amoral. Amoral means that a person does not believe in a system of morals (Stein and Urdang 49).
Overall I would say this is a good movie but I I don't necessarily like the plot but I do like the characterization. So batman, why doesn't he just kill the joker? He had so many times where he could and he just didn't.
