Macbeth Character Analysis Thesis: Macbeth commits evil deeds in the play because he is a greedy backstabber and feels no empathy for his fellow man. Macbeth’s greed is made very obvious in the story based upon the quote “On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, / For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires;,” (1.4.51-52).

As individuals, we have a certain degree of control over our own lives and the decisions we make. While external factors such as social pressure, cultural norms, and personal circumstances can influence us, ultimately, we have agency in choosing how we respond to those factors. This is portrayed through William Shakespeare's tragedy, Macbeth, the titular character Macbeth is the protagonist, a Scottish general who receives a prophecy from three witches that he will become king. Character Profile: Macbeth One of the main characters in the story” Macbeth” is Macbeth, who is a strong soldier who is suspicious of the witches, indecisive towards Lady Macbeth 's instructions, and ambition that changes from driven ambition for the crown to ambition to kill anyone in his way throughout the story. The setting takes place in Scotland, and England is mentioned when a few of the main characters flee there for protection and help to take down Macbeth. The conflict that Macbeth experiences is in a lot of ways a man vs. self situation, but he has a handful of physical fighting and man vs. man situations too. Macbeth has ambition, but his determination is not initially unveiled on his own. But is when shortly after when the witches appeared calling to him.

Power-hungry Macbeth Macbeth is a very compelling and twisted character to observe on a large-scale. His development as a main character can be a bit questionable as he went from relatively normal for his culture, to the point where he terrified and ruled Scotland with an iron fist. How did this one man go from waiting patiently for the crown, to going out and murdering everyone in his path to the crown? Through the progression of Macbeth’s motives, relationships, and emotions in this Shakespeare work, it can be determined that the want of power makes Macbeth into a disturbing, unreliable, psychopath.

Macbeth is the one of if not the most dynamic character in the play. In the beginning he was loved, respected, and considered the hero of Glamis. Macbeth's personality had two changing points for the worse. The first on was the meeting with the witches. It causes him to ponder how will he become king in terms of if he will he have to take it or will it come in due time.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a play about how greed can demoralize a person. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s minds were corrupted due to their lust for power after hearing the prophecies given to Macbeth by the witches. First or all, Macbeth’s lust for power was apparent when he ordered Banquo and his son’s death. He wanted to ensure his position as king would not be taken, and as the witches stated - Banquo’s sons would be king. The first evidence of Macbeth losing his mind was after he ordered Banquo’s death.

Macbeth started off as a valiant and courageous soldier, who would do anything for the king. By the end of the play, Macbeth was a tyrant and a horrible leader who killed those who trusted him to maintain the throne. It takes many factors to take a strong man and transform him into an evil monster. Macbeth’s downfall was caused by the deception and temptation of the witches and their prophecies, Lady Macbeth’s greed and aspirations for her husband to be king, and Macbeth’s own greed, jealousy and ambition.

The play, Macbeth, shows the among between sanity and insanity and the struggle between reason and delusion. Throughout this whole play, Macbeth slips into a state of lunacy slowing turning into a psychopath. The basis of understanding the play is through the first murder, King Duncan. Macbeth’s other two assassinations are just used as efforts to secure his throne. He begins accepting the evil inside him and succumbing to the temptation to murder and insanity.

Ambition creates a reason to move forward with your plans. Although human aspiration is eternal, its rewards are short-lived. This is shown in, The Prince, a novel by Niccolo Machiavelli, Macbeth, a play by Shakespeare and Why Read Shakespeare, an argument by Michael Mack through the use of diction, personification, and metaphors respectfully. These works show that people in power are expected to keep the population in order, through force and strength, this causes them to be feared, and look evil in terms of leadership. Which leads to their inevitable end of power despite their original aim.

William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the main character; Macbeth, is seen as an evil character. The play is based off of Macbeth’s decisions and his actions to become King. In the beginning Macbeth starts out as a hero in Scotland’s war with Ireland and towards the end he is transformed into a murderer. Macbeth is not wholly evil because of is heroism in the war, his love for Scotland, and because he didn’t want to kill King Duncan initially.
