The title of the book is To Kill a Mockingbird. The reason it’s called To Kill a Mockingbird is because Atticus says “It’s a sin to kill a Mockingbird”. A Mockingbird is best described as a bird that doesn’t hurt anyone, does not attempt to hurt anyone, sings for enjoyment, tires to help, and has nothing but innocence.
There are many “Mockingbirds” in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. The two characters that really stood out to me as the Mockingbirds were Atticus Finch and Calpurnia. These two characters throughout the story taught Jem and Scout lessons that would help them later on in life. Atticus was a father figure, and a defense attorney, he was a trustworthy man and kept his word. Calpurnia a mother-like figure was Jem and Scout’s housemaid. She treated the children as if they were her own. She made sure they ate and had nice, and clean clothes to wear whenever school started.
Atticus was definitely a major role model for both his children because he was a well-mannered father. From the beginning of the novel until the end, his kids were trying to make him proud of them. “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand” is just one of the non-violent, influential lessons he told his children. One of the many ideas he tries to make clear

The “Mockingbird” can be named to a number of people throughout the entire novel. Many connections were made between other different characters with Scout and Jem. The two most noticeable were Atticus and Calpurnia. Atticus made impressions on his kids that would last them a lifetime. Without Atticus and Calpurnia, Jem and Scout would not be the same. Together, these two characters represented the way Scout and Jem were raised. Atticus was, in fact, the key role model in both Scout and Jem’s lives. Even by the author of the book, she admired her father’s ways of teaching childhood
The book To Kill a Mockingbird is narrated by a young girl named Jean Louise Finch, also known as Scout. Throughout the story, Scout faces many problems and confusions in the world she lives in. The world she knows is split in two. People who hate and fear, and others, such as Atticus Finch, who have sympathy and an understanding for those who are different and less fortunate than others. Atticus, father to Jem and Scout, defends Tom Robinson in court against the Ewell family.
What exactly is “power”? Power is the ability to control and have respect in a certain way. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, the small town of Maycomb have a trial in which a black man was accused of raping a white woman. But because of her class and gender, Mayella, the woman who claimed rape, lacks power, but her race makes her powerful.
In this story, Scout has an older brother named Jem, and her fathers name is Atticus. Unfortunately their mother passed away when Scout was very young, but their household helper Calpurnia helps fill the role, raising them when Atticus is not home.
Atticus is passionate about staying true to himself and the kids. Jem is passionate about equality. the scout is passionate about her family, specifically her dad and finally Boo Radley is passionate about observing. Each individual character has many of their own traits, but one that runs through all four of them is they are passionate about the things they believe in and
By having a parent like Atticus, Scout and Jem learn to grow above the small mindedness of their town and be the kind of person Atticus is -somebody who looks beyond physical appearances and preconceptions. Without Atticus guiding them through difficulties like this one, Jem and Scout couldve easily become like the majority of their town: bitter, racists and rigid. This is the last thing Atticus wants for his kids, so being a good example for them is one of his top priorities. Atticus does not want for his children to grow up inheriting Maycombs usual disease or becoming bitter with the world, so he spends his time making it clear what he expects from not only them, but himself. Atticus Prepares Jem and Scout for the harsh realities of this world by acting as an example for them and being the kind of person they can follow.
Throughout, "To Kill a Mockingbird." Atticus shows his great value and intentions towards the people around him and the society. Atticus reveals this trait from his influence on his children and equal views of race. Because of his positive influence on others, he aids his children to respect others and is highly respected by his movement to fight for equality.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a timeless novel by Harper Lee; in the book Harper Lee illustrates the heroism of Atticus Finch. The novel is set in the early 1930s in Maycomb County, Alabama. At the time of the book racism was a part of life and the divide between blacks and whites were unprecedented. To begin with, Atticus Finch is a magnificent father to his son and daughter, Jem and Scout.
Scout and Jem are very innocent and do not understand racism very well. Atticus has an unusual relationship with his kids. He cares very much for them and their moral upbringings, but he treats them like adults and is a very hands-off parent. Everybody wants power. People with no power want to obtain it, and people with a lot of power want to keep it. In Harper Lees book To Kill A Mockingbird power means to consider the amount of control a person has over his or hers own life as well as the lives of others. Role models are the epitome of what one strives to be, learn from, or simply to be. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee distinguishes Calpurnia, Miss Maudie, and Atticus as role models for Scout to help guide and portray her coming of age in order to further prove the overall themes of the novel such as coming of age and prejudice. Scout Finch’s knowledge of Maycomb County and the things surrounding her is minimal until she receives guidance from her family, friends, and neighbors. Also, along with these two main themes Scout’s character is changed because of her role models who assist her throughout the novel. The role models of Calpurnia, Miss Maudie, and Atticus teach her lessons on her education, racism, and respect.
