THE INTRODUCTION Good afternoon my name is Brooke Sauer, and it is my pleasure to represent the State of Maycomb and to serve as a prosecutor on this crucial day. On August 26, 1936, the defendant didn’t try the best he could to convince the judge that Tom Robinson was innocent. At the end of the conclusion of the case, and after you heard all the evidence, we are confident that you will return a verdict of guilty on the three charges of failing to give all he could to give Tom Robinson his freedom.
Court Case Essay 16-21 By: Taylar Stueven Atticus put up a fight during the Tom Robinson case. Giving great arguments and counter arguments to prove that Tom Robinson isn’t guilty, also Atticus had a really well thought out closing argument. If I were Atticus during the trial I would have changed up his closing statement, otherwise everything else I would have kept the same and if I were a juror I wouldn’t have decided that Tom was guilty. Atticus had a really well thought out closing argument. He puts Tom Robinson’s life in their hands and lets them know that you are the one making the decision.
THE THEME AND THEORY This case will be about Man's hatred towards another and how he abused his power to do wrong against Tom Robinson.
Mayella accused Tom of rape, which was proven false but the jury decided to choose the voice of a white girl over a black man, which was common during this period of time. The jury then found Tom Robinson guilty, then sentenced Tom to prison. Some may say that Tom Robinson was at fault for entering the Ewell household but Mayella asked tom to come inside, and help her with some tasks which then started the accusations of Tom Raping Maylla Ewell. Tom only helped Mayella because he was black and he wanted to stay on her good side which unfortunately did not happen. Mayella spoke against Tom which caused the jury to find him guilty.
Gentlemen, in the 30 years that I have been practising law in Maycomb, I have never seen a case so complicated, and so simple at the same time. Complicated because of the circumstances; a white woman’s word versus a black man’s word. Simple because of the facts; clearly no one in this courtroom is guilty besides the defendant himself, Tom Robinson. There is undoubtedly more evidence confirming the fact that Tom Robinson is guilty rather than innocent.
The case of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" has been a subject of debate. While some believe that Tom Robinson is guilty of the crime he was accused of, there is strong evidence to prove that he is not guilty. There is no evidence of Tom doing anything, the evidence from Mayella could not have been true and Tom did not have a fair trial. Firstly, the evidence against Tom Robinson is circumstantial and lacks any real proof of his guilt.
THE THEME AND THEORY People of the jury, this case is about a man who failed to do his job. This man didn’t to do his job properly because he had the belief that the alleged rapist wouldn’t have a fair trial regardless of the evidence he may or may not found. PARTIES
Members of the jury, this case is about a man that let his dereliction of duty get to him. This happened because Mr. Finch didn’t think he would win the case from the start so he didn’t put full effort into it and just did the case so his reputation would stay good. These events led to Tom Robinson losing his case
The Tom Robinson trial that occurred during the summer of this year was a result of an accusation of rape against Robinson by the Ewell family. According to Sheriff Heck Tate’s testimony, he was called to the Ewell residence on the night of November 21st. He found Miss Mayella Ewell beaten up and sprawled on the ground. “Found her lying on the floor in the middle of the front room, one on the right as you go in”(190). After questioning by Robinson’s lawyer, Atticus Finch, he stated that despite Miss Ewell’s injuries, a doctor had not been called.
Why, if we didn’t have prosecutors—well, we couldn’t have defense attorneys, I reckon,””(Lee 226). This reaction was a mirror of her reaction to the verdict, her brushing off the blatant power difference and mistreatment in court. In comparison to Jem’s reaction, “his face was streaked with angry tears as we made our way through the cheerful crows. “It ain’t right,” he muttered,””(Lee 243). Through Jem’s reaction we can witness that he understood the injustice that Tom Robinson experienced even though the trial had a clear-cut answer.
Dear Members of the Jury, I am writing you this letter to tell to you that Tom Robinson should be proven not guilty. This case would have never happened if the truth would have been told and it wasn’t a case between black and white. There are many ways that Robinson is not guilty. One of these reasons that Tom Robinson is not guilty is that if you listened to the Sheriff 's testimony he stumbled frequently and when he said something and then Atticus would say something different he would agree with Atticus. Tom Robinson is a very polite man with great manners, which you could take into consideration that he wouldn’t dare hurt this woman in this kind of manner.
Even though the jury found Tom Robinson guilty of raping Mayella Ewell, in that matter Atticus Finch, lawyer defending Tom Robinson, said that Tom Robinson was not guilty because he only has one arm and there is no way that Tom Robinson was able to hurt her while Bob Ewell is perfectly fine and
THE INTRODUCTION Good afternoon, my name is Lucas Kunstleben, and it is my honor to represent the State of Maycomb and to serve as a prosecutor on this crucial case. On August 26th, 1936, the defendant in this matter lied under oath and on the stand in the case of Mayella Ewell v. Tom Robinson. The defendant lied about the events that took place on the night of August 26, 1936, between her and Tom Robinson. At the end of this case, and after you have heard all the evidence, we are confident you will return a guilty verdict on all charges of lying under oath.
Robinson was left to suffer the wrath of injustice. The jurors decided that he was guilty despite of his innocence. It was stated in the constitution that “when it’s a white man’s word over the black man’s word, the
