12 March 2023 Tony Marston was one of the people on Soldier Island that felt little to no remorse so most people believe he should be killed instantly, But Emily Brent has no indirect involvement with the deaths and if they deserved the death they received on the island. As the others excused the murderers that they have committed Miss Brent states “There is no question of defense. I have always acted in accordance with the dictates of my conscience. I have nothing with which to reproach myself” (48 Christe ).As we can see, Emily Brent believes that she has only acted in a way to protect herself; she doesn't do her actions to harm others, she only does it to protect herself. She acted on her beliefs.Furthermore

Though, emotionally, he is just as bad as the other islanders, if not worse, he takes it upon himself to act like he is above them and can decide the outcome of their fate. His actions are driven by a twisted sense of justice and revenge, making him no better than the murderers he seeks to punish. After Mrs.rodgers death Wargrave declares to Brent “My dear lady, in my experience of ill-doing, Providence leaves the work of conviction and chastisement to us mortals—and the process is often fraught with difficulties. There are no shortcuts.” After Rodgers death Wargrave feels the need to proclaim to the islanders that some type of divine spirit has taken her life in order to repay for her sin. If we dive deeper we can see that Wargrave believes himself to be the bringer of justice and he has the right to murder the islanders of their past. Wargarve explains that he was the murder on the island and states “I wanted to kill… Yes, I wanted to kill… But–incongruous as it may seem to some–I was restrained and hampered by my innate sense of justice”(Christie 171).Wargrave is aware of the fact that he is out of his mind and has to feed the urge he's been fighting back and finally have the relief of killing another. But he also has a sense of justice that pulls him back to reality. Know we can understand war graves mindset clearly paves a path for him to commit the murders and believe he
She was invited my a old friend that she met on a cruise ship. What she did was kicked her daughter out of her house after being informed her daughter was pregnant. Her daughter, Beatrice Taylor soon after killed herself. Emily Brent was very angry when she kicked Beatrice out. She wasn’t thinking straight because of how angry she was.
The townspeople never say that miss Emily is crazy nor is she ever diagnosed with a mental illness, but she shows symptoms and behavior that imply that she is crazy and is mentally ill. Her father isolates her from the whole town, so her father’s actions are what drive her crazy and mentally ill. One reason why people may see Miss Emily as crazy is because she tried to hold on to her father’s body and tried to convince everyone in the town that he wasn’t dead. Faulkner says, “She did that or three days with the ministers calling on her and doctors trying to persuade her to let them dispose of the body.
In Agatha Christie's book And Then There Were None, Emily Brent is a character that is deceptive because, although appearing to be a fine person with strong morals and a commitment to the bible, Emily Brent is actually a self-righteous murderer who manipulates the bible. Emily Brent comes across as a pleasant yet wary individual. On the surface, she appears to be mature and polite. She gives the impression of being a religious woman because she frequently reads and quotes from her Bible. As indicated in Chapter 1 Section IV, “Enveloped in an aura of righteousness and unyielding principles, Miss Brent sat in her crowded third-class carriage and triumphed over its discomfort and its heat”(Christie).
Or, when another person would be killed, he did not think anything of it. He saw so many people being killed that this was just a regular thing. He didn’t even care too much when he father had died. His sick father was now gone, and he didn’t have another person to take care of. He also lost all sense of hope.
Since Emily is so off from the world, this makes the understanding of what she is dealing with even harder. If she was more outspoken with the people of the town, rumors would have not grown about her, and caused even more
Emily Brent. Mrs. Brent was a sophisticated, old fashioned woman, she kicked out Beatrice Taylor when she found out that she was troubled. All she did was deny her shelter. “It was some time before I found out that she was what they call ‘in trouble.’” She paused, her delicate nose wrinkling itself in distaste.
This character trapped ten people on an island and faked his own death just to serve, what he thought, was justice. Not me! One part of this book is very shocking. In this part, only two people are left alive on Soldier Island, Philip and Vera, either of which could have been the killer.
Did Justice Wargrave commit cold-blooded murder, or was he merely carrying out justice? In the book And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie, Justice Wargrave invites ten people to Soldier island. Everyone invited to Soldier Island had one thing in common: they were all killers, untouched by the law. Soldier Island is a remote Island off the Devon Coast that Justice Wargrave used as a setting to uphold the law.
Therefore, he could have gotten help for their dishonorable lust to kill and did not. Justice Wargrave murdered ten people because of his fascination with death and his terminal illness, and his reputation is no longer important, mentally tortured them, and planned their demise in advance; therefore, making him the vilest character.
This is because he should have told the truth instead of always running from it. If he had told the families from the beginning, many of the deaths could have been

This also creates suspense in the same way; it gives the reader the knowledge that something is wrong with Wargrave and that he isn’t a normal person with nothing to do with anything. The history of both of these characters make them strange
He feels that her assumed disloyalty is an injustice, and the vengeance he chooses is completely out of proportion with the supposed acts committed against him. The general’s search for vengeance creates the arc of his downfall, both beginning and entirely ending his storyline as the revenge he starts out searching for is eventually what causes his death. Many acts of violence in the world are committed out of jealousy, as it easily creates obsessive behavior. When people are in this frenzied state, overreaction easily occurs and sometimes results in cruelty towards others. Control over one’s emotions is an essential skill, as letting irrational feelings of jealousy overtake reason can often have negative consequences.
She is mentally disturbed, and driven to her act by insanity. Miss Emily kills her victim, Barron, to keep him around because she truly loves him and she does not want to let go. Both protagonists have a distorted perception of
