Tragic Heroes in Julius Caesar There is a large amount of differences between the play interpretation of Julius Caesar and what really happened. For instance, Brutus in the play was extremely different than real life Brutus. In the play, he was best friends with Caesar-well, until he killed him. However, in real life, Brutus hated Caesar. He was never supportive of Caesar, and truthfully never loved him.(Musaj and Prezi Inc.) In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, he uses Brutus’s strong love of Rome, his honor, and his willing to do anything for the good of Rome to show that Brutus is the tragic hero. Everyone loves their homeland-some more than others. Brutus had an extremely strong love

In Act 3 Scene 2 Brutus said during his speech, “If that friend then demands to know why Brutus turned against Caesar, this is my answer: Not because I cared for Caesar less, but because I cared for Rome more”. Brutus had courage to kill Caesar, not because he wanted to, but for the good of Rome and its people. During the entirety of the story, Brutus

This is some of the traits of s tragic hero that Julius caesar possesses. Back in 44 BC, Caesar was murdered by politicians who feared that he was too obsessed with his own importance. I think that Julius’s fate was definitely not deserved, he only wanted to help out his kingdom he just made a few mistakes that could’ve been prevented. He used his power to carry out much-needed reform, relieving debt, enlarging the senate, building the Forum Iulium and revising the calendar. Dictatorship was always regarded a temporary position but in 44 BC, Caesar took it for life.
Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, details the story of Brutus and Cassius with other conspirators, as they plan and follow through with murdering Julius Caesar, the leader of Rome. Following Caesar’s death, the government of Rome begins to crumble. Marc Antony and Octavius take temporary control, leading their army against the conspirators who have been unmasked as the cold-blooded killers of Shakespeare’s title character. He, Shakespeare, was a poet and actor who spent 20 years as a playwright. He is widely regarded as the greatest english poet of all time.

Heroism is a very debatable topic in this day and age, I often find myself thinking, what truly does make a hero? I believe that in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Caesar himself displays the most hero-like qualities, above all the other characters. I understand that that seems like a very bold statement to make, so to prove it, I’ll have to answer the question I asked from before, what makes a hero? In my opinion, there are three distinct qualities that make up a true hero.
The story of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare has been a story passed down to generation to generation. The story is centered on betrayals and lies that affect every character. However, Brutus is neither a betrayer nor a cheater. In fact, he is patriot, because he put Rome above himself. However, this book has been out for a long time and some say killing Caesar in the name of Rome is a betrayal.
Could Caesar be categorized as the tragic hero? A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. Through Antony’s speech, Caesar is revealed to be a tragic hero because of his ambition that is outweighed by his care towards the Roman people. Brutus displays Caesar as a tragic hero because of his quest for power and the decisions he was liable to make for Rome. Caesar can be categorized as a tragic hero through his caring attitude, his power, and his ambition, which led to his downfall.
Scholars argue over whether Brutus or Caesar is the tragic hero of the play because both characters are men of prominence who have tragic flaws that cause them to fall. Although there is evidence to support that they could both be a tragic hero, there is more evidence to support that Marcus Brutus is the tragic hero of the play. Marcus Brutus is a leader and a citizen of Rome who leads in the death of Caesar. Brutus plays the role of the tragic hero through his noble standing, fatal flaw, and legacy. Some people could argue that Caesar is the tragic hero and could provide a counterclaim to support that he is.
According to the dictionary, “A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction.” In Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, there are multiple instances of tragic heroes within the storyline. Despite this, the character Brutus appears to be a significant character, and tragic hero in the play. Brutus’s actions had a vast part in the play’s actual storyline, and the choices he made greatly impacted the life of other characters. Although there are many potential tragic heroes in Julius Caesar, Brutus is the greatest tragic hero because he has proved himself to be incredibly honorable, he’s shown that he cares greatly for his country, but still consistently demonstrates a tragic flaw, which eventually leads to the deaths of many other characters.
In the The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus and Caesar both have major flaws that lead to their downfall. There can only be one tragic hero in a play since a tragedy revolves around a tragic hero. With all the characteristics of a tragic hero, Brutus is the one that would be shown as the tragic hero in the play since he shows all of the characteristics of one. Brutus in the Tragedy of Julius Caesar is shown as the tragic hero, and his downfall is begun by all of his major flaws.
