The time spent at Western Governors University (WGU) has been a great opportunity to learn about myself, my goals, and understand the factors that influence my career choice and my success. When I began at WGU four years ago, I did not have any experience in human resource management beyond recruiting, hiring and training for the restaurant industry. In the beginning, I was uncomfortable with the limited knowledge. Yet, as time progressed, my confidence, knowledge and skills increased with each course. In working to develop my abilities to become a human resources manager, I have learned human resource management plays an integral role in increasing the effectiveness of employees to attain the goals and objectives of an organization.
Chris McCandless, a very questionable man with questionable motives, were they reasonable or just plain idiotic? Before we go into those questionable areas, let’s ask ourselves; what drives our determination, what fuels our motivation, and why are we going to accomplish our desires? All these answers are found in one simple question; one that man-kind seems to never realize the answer to, “what is the meaning of life?” We fail to see that, we are the very living definition of it, it’s within ourselves that we give life any meaning at all, and to understand why we give it such meaning. McCandless knew this, the life that he was living, was never his, so he decided to search for his meaning and live his own life as his.
As the new person among a long established team, I am learning so much right now. I have learned about Northrop Grumman’s standard of conduct: “Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.” I have learned about what is expected of me regarding service level agreements. I have learned how each agency operates in different ways. I believe I am developing this knowledge well.
Hi Deadre, I highly appreciate your post, and I have a deeper appreciation of RMU OTD program that promote professional development at the highest caliber and integrity. At this point in the program, I have to use the knowledge acquired to change our profession. I have also gained confidence in my practice secondary to using evidence based. I concur with you that the CIPD framework is a great tool that helps with organization skills that helps to produce evidence based finished products to promote the centennial vision. Furthermore, with RMU professors have equipped us with incredible knowledge that prompts us to be active leaders in occupational therapy profession, and eradicate passivity to make our profession powerful.
Antwan, the way you stuck to the story line with interweaving moments of internal reflection in your memoir was very effective. I could imagine the thoughts rushing through your head at each main part of the memoir: seeing the cops in the parking lot, seeing the blue lights in the rearview, waiting on him to come back to your car with your license, and sitting there on the curb reflecting back on everything that had just happened. Even with the back and forth between what was actually occurring and what was happening in your mind, your piece had a good flow without any large jumps in time. This definitely helped me as a reader understand exactly how the night really went. I felt myself wanting to know more about you as a person separate
I am Robel Tewelde, a student from the University of South Dakota. You helped me out with a project that I had earlier this year and I was wondering if during the summer is there any help that I can do as a volunteer for the Skyforce or Pentagon. I am from Sioux Falls, and I think this would be a great opportunity for me to use. I am willing to do anything to get a better feel of my major and this would be a great chance to hopefully get more networking experience to help me in the long run. I understand this is the off-season and things mike be limited or nothing to do, but I would look to work with the Skyforce as a home grown kid!
As a student who has attended Forsyth Tech previously, the combined number of classes that I have completed at this institution equals at least 40. Several of those classes included assignments which involved writing papers/essays; a few of those classes included written/oral communications classes. In all of my experience at Forsyth Tech, I have never been given an assignment that was “added” into the curriculum this late into the semester, much less an autobiography with a requirement of 10 pages; furthermore, none of the other required papers for this class come close to requiring that length or account for half of the final grade. Even if it was common practice to add a 10-page paper to the required assignments for a class at this late
BaFa BaFa Reflection I believe that everyone has felt like an outsider or felt like they didn’t belong at least once in their lives. During this simulation it brought back many memories where I’ve felt like an outsider. For example, with me I felt like an outsider when my family decided to celebrate Christmas with people from my church like three or four years ago. The reason that I felt like an outsider was because the way these people from church celebrated Christmas was way different from the way my family has always celebrated it. I felt a little uncomfortable and out of place.
Hi Nicole! I had the opportunity to watch Glen Weybright too, but with a different client, Mia. Glen is an outstanding clinician, as he is able to truly connect with his clients and make them feel very comfortable. He has become one of my favorite clinician’s to watch on MCN. It’s interesting that you bring up that the boy’s family was involved in the session because Mia had her mom participating in her session too.
Through student council this past winter, I was introduced to a new type of innovative charity called VING. This organization gives teenagers across the country the opportunity to give back to those in their community that have inspired them in an unique way. A woman who truly inspires me with her spirit of determination, strength, and love immediately came to my mind. My family mentors a woman, Janaee, who has been diagnosed with Leukemia, has two young children, one of whom is partially deaf, and she has been battling financial hardships, faced homelessness, and has fought to maintain custody of her children. The story touched the hearts of those at the VING project so much that they decided to allow me to give Janaee the boost she needed
As Christians, we forget that the most important part of our lives is our faith in Christ. CSP’s culture tries to remind us that Christ loves us and He only wants the best in our lives. After interviewing the director of HR, I have seen firsthand the ideas behind why CSP’s HR is contributing to the University’s overall strategy. Throughout my first couple of weeks of learning strategic HR management, I have learned that finding the right fit is part of HR contributing to an organization’s strategy. Mary Arnold was a big advocate for finding the right fit when it came to employees.
I am also interested in EVMS, because your Care Forward Curriculum mirrors objectives of my past degree programs: .preparation and compassion. As a DNIMAS scholar at Norfolk State, I was trained to learn at an advanced rate and seek resources, so that I could make the most informed decisions pertaining to my curriculum and career. Research, internships and weekly class conversations with graduate and professional schools were requirements of the program that prepared my class for the expectations of our career fields. EVMS continues to emphasize that concept and teaches in patterns that smoothly transition the student into the physician. The CFC also reinforces my personal objective of cost conscious care.

On Monday November 7th, Mary Ward’s Gay-Straight Alliance club kickstarted the school’s second annual GSA week with the celebration of their birthday. The week was a momentous occasion for the group and the students because it provided opportunity for discussion and education about the LGBTQ+ community. Our school was lucky enough to have a week run and created by the GSA, wherein the group’s goals of education, inclusiveness, and the celebration of differences, were carried out. During the week, numerous topics were covered. The club began on Monday by celebrating the fourth anniversary of their creation, reflecting on the group’s history, and looking back on its formation.
INTRODUCTION Human resource management is the strategic approach to the management of an organization 's most valued assets - the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the goals of the business (Armstrong, M., 2006). In other words, human resource management is a to work with employees, and for the employees, to help them solve their problems. Therefore, human resource is a complicate department, as they deal with people who already work there, they also deal with several issues which happen among new employees, such as recruitment, selection and so on. Nowadays, employee retention becomes one of the most significant issue in the organizations, and managers are aiming to find the best employees
I was a PAL recently during the Fall, 2016 semester. Being a PAL, gave me the opportunity, to have a leadership role, and meet more people on campus. I am an English major with an Adolescent Education minor; I am working towards completing the STEP program here at Adelphi. During my time as a PAL, I worked closely with Camille Pajor; She was the instructor paired up with me, to teach this 1-credit class. Being a PAL has helped me tremendously.
