The British making taxes on newspapers and pamphlets led colonists to anger. The King should not have made the Americans house troops in their homes. Great Britain imposing the intolerable act on America created outrage and anger among the colonists. The tight British control on the colonies led the American colonists to want independence.

Just one small action ignited one of the most largest turn of events in American history. In the month of October 1768, a group of red suited British officers were stationed in the town of Boston, Massachusetts due to the rioting after the vessel “Liberty” was seized from trade violations (Foner 185). The British Government had been trying to increase taxes and control over the American colony. On March 5th, 1770 the colonists couldn’t take it anymore, they wanted the troops out. The American Revolution was the start of the America’s history and one of the biggest turning points in that era. All the colonists remembered the daring fight against Britain for land and liberty. Yet, 29 years later another war broke out between Britain and America. The same arguments were in place as before, America was pushing for land and defending their liberties. In my opinion The War of 1812 is often called the “Forgotten War” because of the issues that we’re faced during it. Also in my opinion the United States government would have rather forgotten this war because it was a shameful time for the government as a whole. Another thing about the “Forgotten War” is that it was extremely costly for the United States Government because “the British burnt down the White House, the Capitol, and other government buildings” (Shultz 2010). Yet, the War of 1812 or the “Forgotten War” was not only a shameful or negative part of history it also had a few good things that came from the War.

The British people treated the Native American’s with cruelty and harshness. An example of this harshness can be seen in the life of Christopher Columbus. Columbus mistakenly discovered the Americas in 1492. Columbus and his crew exploited the Indian tribes by making them search for gold and putting them to death if they did not meet his quota. When the British finally made peace with the Native Americans, the Indian tribes tried to stay as friendly with the Americans/ british as possible.

The French Indian War proved to be the starting point of the American Revolution. During this war Britain neglected the colonies, leading to their growth in military and gained self confidence. Seeing America 's growth and independence, Britain called on the colonies for help, resulting in the backlash that started it all. When Britain imposed policies and taxes on unrepresented American colonists, the tension started to rise.

In the late 1770s the Thirteen Colonies of Britain wanted to separate and form their own nation. On July 4, 1776 they signed a declaration this was the Declaration of Independence declaring these colonies a new independent nation. When the shot was fired at Lexington it was heard around the world which started the American Revolution. Although some critics argue that the revolution had meager affects, the war actually revolutionized The United States of America which is evident by the greater equality for the social classes, the increase in equality for the minorities, and the creation of a republic.

During the mid 1700’s in colonial America, the English colonies fought a war against the French and natives, known as the French and Indian war. At the close of this war England was left victorious, adding new acquisitions to its colonial empire. However this war would also lead to cumbersome taxes on the colonies, and other issues between England and the colonies, resulting in the American Revolution. Additionally, during the Revolutionary War, the United States struggled with the length of time that they would have the Combatants to their disposal because of the extremely small enlistment contracts they issued and agreed upon. Assuming that WWI would take place over multiple years, the military knew that they had to correct that past mistake. They decided that if they were going to train someone in the profession of arms, they needed to at least get ample use out of that individual which led them to extend the enlistment contracts as they felt needed. After the Revolutionary War was over, the United States was presented with some debt that they owed, and to pay that debt off they decided to use a system of bonds to borrow money from the people promising to pay them back in the future.
