Week 3 Dissertation Paper

Hello, I am Ryan Judge, and I have developed (with a group) a 6-week program to train a client for a 5k. A 5k is 3.1 miles, so it is an endurance run, something that is not meant to be done fast. In this essay, I am going to tell you about the fashion of our training program, and why me made it the way it is. The client that we made our 6-week training program for is a 13 year-old girl with no medical history.

Technology is here, and here to stay, students everywhere are using it, and for even less than half of the schools in the United states to believe that it is causing their students to be in a “cave”, it would give those students an unfair disadvantage in life after high school because they would lack the skills necessary in the current work force.

When one thinks about the reasons for the use of technology we are hit with all of the negative side effects of it. Its increase has caused our society to feel the need to overuse it and share every aspect of our lives, it has caused us to lose some of our privacy. That is why it is imperative teachers must know the level of students’ achievement related to their current teaching methods (Hamilton, 2015). For example, NAEYC states preschoolers have varying levels of ability to control technology and media, but with teacher mediation they can demonstrate mastery of simple digital devices and are often seen using the tools as part of their pretend play. School-age children who are more proficient in using technology can harness these tools to communicate ideas and feelings, investigate the environment, and locate information. Teachers should look for ways to use computers to support the development and learning that occur in other parts of the classroom and the development and learning that happen with computers in complement with activities off the computer. According to Glatthorn (2016) “technology innovations are helping to enhance differentiated teaching and learning. Through a variety of new applications and programs, individual instruction can be more self-paced, and assessment tools can better gauge student progress” (p. 496). This is priceless for teachers who feel they are stretched to thin and are struggling to meet the diverse needs of all their students. Technology offers them much needed help in this area. Sometimes I feel resistance to integrating technology comes from a lack of knowledge on the subject and the extra work it involves.

Technology in the classroom allows children to learn quicker and more effectively. This paper will support the benefits of technology in the classroom, as well as show the downfalls of technology and why they are inconsequential. In the classroom, technology can encompass all kinds of tools from low-tech pencil, paper, and chalkboard, to the use of presentation software, or high-tech tablets, online collaboration and conferencing tools, and more. The newest technologies allow us to try things in physical and virtual classrooms that were not possible before. Today, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to teach without technology and how hard it is to learn without it. Technology plays a major part in our lives as students.

As technology continues to advance its presence greater in our daily lives, the questions of when and where do we prepare for these changes arise. Schools do not get a guarantee to incorporate technology into the classroom, which may result in a gap of the knowledge, usage, and the benefits for the students. The teachers attitude and philosophies on technology can influence the amount of classroom use it has and how the students view technology also. Technology can be of great benefit to both the teachers and students if the teacher has a positive outlook and competent knowledge regarding technology. With the data provided along with the ethnological research which covers the philosophy of the teacher and how that can determine outcomes inside the classroom, my vision of my future classroom will be followed.
