While searching for a career pathway on mynextmove.org, I took a test to see suggestions to do with my life. The results of this test were very surprising to me, in my findings the computer generator suggested that a career option that would best fit me would be a job as an airplane pilot. I highly disagree with the suggestion considering I can’t walk in a straight line, let alone learn to operate an airplane. I believe I should stick with my original decision to be a welder, because I’ve enjoyed in the past two years and think it would be a promising career for myself. Even though being an airplane pilot would be interesting job, welding would be the better option for me. Ever since I first took classes at Swiss Hills Career Center, I knew I wanted to be a welder. After I graduate, I intend the join the local pipefitters union and become an apprentice welder’s helper. During this time I will learn all I need to know about being a pipe welder including preparation, welding process, and test preformed after the welds have been completed. To first get considered into the union I must first pass a drug test. After I have passed the drug test and background screening, I must have an interview. During the interview, I will be asked various amounts of questions regarding my strengths that would be best fit for the job and all of my qualifications. I would tell them everything I have completed during my past years of schooling and would also let them look over my resume containing all of my accomplishments and completions. If all goes well with the interview and I receive a call or message saying I have been hired to the position I applied for, I will fill out an application to get considered to be in the union.
