Block 3 I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and I finished the book. This book was about two innocent kids and their friend learning the way of the world, with the help of their father, Calpurnia and other people they learn that not everything in the world is like they imagen. In this journal I will be evaluating.
I am evaluating the symbol of the mockingbird. I believe that one symbol that represent the mockingbird is Boo Radley. Everybody in Maycomb thought that Boo and his family were strange and scary. Nobody knew who they were because nobody talked to them or nobody invited them into their house. When Boo Radley saves Jem her life, Scout soon realises that Boo Radley is just a folk like her and there was no need to be afraid of him. Like Atticus tells

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” (Lee). Another symbol that I think symbolises the mockingbird is Tom Robinson. Tom robinson is in trial for his life for something that he did not do. He had to fight for his innocents and Atticus is by his side helping him. The white people though that he was guilty just because his skin color was not the same as them. They thought that because he was black he was not telling the truth. Tom Robinson was so tired of the white people calling him names and not believing him that he decided to run away and that is when his life ended. In summary, I believe that Boo and Tom are symbols that symbolizes the mockingbird. These two men are caring and nice. They are innocent and they both try to tell people that they are not guilty or bad. In the book Atticus tell Jem and Scout “Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit'em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee), soon they realised what his father meant by saying this when they
The mockingbird symbolizes Boo Radley. Boo gets judged by the stories around town, but he ignores the judgment. In chapter one, Jem says “Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that’s why his hands were bloodstained–if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off.
The symbol of the mockingbird, which is a harmless bird that sings beautiful songs, represents the innocent and vulnerable members of society who are targeted by those in positions of power. The mockingbird is used to represent characters such as Tom Robinson and Boo Radley, who are both victims of injustice and abuse of power. The symbol of the mockingbird highlights the power imbalance between those who have power and those who are powerless, and the devastating impact of that imbalance on the lives of those who are

“Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a Mockingbird.” This quote explains how Mockingbirds are the most important symbol in this novel because without them there would be no good in the world. Tom Robinson was one example out of many that symbolizes the “mockingbird.” He has shown innocence throughout the book, because he didn’t do anything wrong, but he was accused. Throughout the book,”TKAMB” , there has been many examples of the “mockingbird” through characters & actions. An example of innocence is when Scout asked, what rape was, to Atticus. His response being ,“rape was carnal knowledge of female by force and without consent.”
Tom Robinson is also attributed to a mockingbird, because of his innocence. In this story, Tom was accused and sent to trial for supposedly raping Mayella Ewell. Black people were already outcasts in this society. Because of this, Tom didn’t have any way out of the lies that were created against him by prejudiced people. In conclusion, the characters Boo Radley and Tom Robinson are both portrayed as the mockingbirds which symbolizes
Although some may believe Boo is a better choice for a mockingbird, there is a greater amount of evidence that supports Tom is a mockingbird. The first reason Tom is the best example for the mockingbird is he was prosecuted for a crime he did not commit. In the novel it states that, "The state has not produced one iota of medical evidence to the effect that the crime Tom Robinson is charged with ever took place. It has relied instead upon the testimony of two witnesses who evidence has not only been called into serious question on cross-examination, but has been flatly contradicted by the defendant.
Innocent Mockingbirds Wanted Thesis: Tom Robinson, Atticus Finch, and Boo Radley all symbolize mockingbirds because of their traits, qualities, and actions. I. Boo Radley who “was not seen again for fifteen years”, is the most misunderstood person in Maycomb. Similarly, in The
Rumors swept through the town, ruining a man’s reputation and giving him no reason to step outside of his own home. In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Arthur “Boo” Radley is the most complex of Maycomb’s residents. Many say Boo is a killer that should not be trusted near children. However, Scout thinks otherwise as she tries to understand Boo herself. She learns more than she figured, as Boo teaches her numerous lessons without even meeting her.

In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the mockingbird is a metaphor for Tom Robinson. While mockingbirds are discussed in the novel as literal birds that harmlessly sing and entertain, Lee clearly uses the mockingbird to symbolize Tom Robinson. One reason that supports this idea is a Robinson is a innocent man who tried to help someone but then was convicted of rape. Another reason that supports the metaphor is Tom, the innocent songbird, was put on trial for his life and was convicted guilty. This inhuman action of murdering an innocent and harmless man who wanted to help is like the killing of a harmless songbird.both are innocent, and both murders are wrong.
