President Lincoln came about in the early years of the civil war, he was very cautious about role in helping slavery era. The First Confiscation Act authorized the confiscation of slaves as Confederate property. The act allowed the slaves to be used for the Union states. President Abraham Lincoln visualized taking the African Americans to the Union states where they could join the army to fight against the Confederate. There were a few phrases in the text that mentioned President Lincoln was not trying to abolish slavery. That was not the Union war aim because there was border states that practiced slavery for who he wanted to be still apart of the union.
